i was looking through an archive of some channeled material this morning and came across this bit. it strikes a chord within me. what do you guys think?

Ancient Beliefs and Today's Myths

Many of the beliefs that mankind has had in the past several thousand years are directly a result of some of the things that happened in these ancient days. For instance, why is Heaven considered to be in the sky? Heaven has always been thought to be the realm of the gods. If you start thinking about this you will see that it becomes logical to assume that humans began to believe in a Heaven in the sky because the sky was where the ETs came from. Most of you in your present state of development now embrace the idea that God is not a physical person. He is not an old man with a beard. But, yes, these ancient people believed that gods came from the sky and had bodies like theirs. The ETs came from the sky so therefore the sky must be the place of the gods. You all know now the realm of God is everywhere, including within you, but back then they believed that God existed outside of you. Even today, humans struggle with that belief. Humans still believe, even if it is just on the subconscious level, that somehow God is outside of you and can't be inside. Please recognize where that comes from. It is an old, old, ancient belief. And for most, it no longer serves you any more.

Now there is one other belief from ancient times that is quite interesting and that we would like to talk about. In ancient times in Sumeria there was something that happened on a regular basis. When the gods were preparing for a space flight they would often have humans help them. Now we said that the gods used a form of cryogenics. This meant that the gods had to go into a deep sleep, and they had to do so before they left the Earth. So what they did was to go into their ships and have humans come and assist them. These gods would go into their cryogenic tombs which look very similar to your current-day coffins, and they would then go into a deep sleep which simulates death.

Realize, first of all, that they needed their bodies to get into Heaven. They couldn't get into Heaven without that body. Now the humans would also be there to assist the ships that landed with the gods in suspended animation inside. When the ships would land the humans would help these gods to awaken from their deep sleep. What they began to see then was that you had to go to Heaven in your body but you could also come from Heaven in a body as well. So, in a sense, they believed the gods were immortal; somehow this magical realm of Heaven preserved them perfectly.

If you look at the civilization of Egypt you see that they took a lot of care in mummifying and preserving their bodies so they could get to Heaven. Now where would they have gotten that belief from other than from seeing the gods go to Heaven in their bodies? So this created thousands of years of mummification ritual, extending even until today. Some peoples take great care in preparing bodies before they are put into a coffin and buried. Some people on a very subconscious level fear the idea of cremation because without a body they have no place to go. Now this isn't conscious but it still is very much a part of your inner, deep belief systems, and these belief systems come from those very ancient days.

Hey XB, cool post! I'm glad you started this since it reminded me of something I was going to bring up

Have you / anyone read 'Chariots of The Gods' by Erich von Daniken? He questions our past and where our beliefs stem from in the Universe as a whole.

He questions 'Was God an Astronaut?' amoungst other things, here's a copy of book with the introductory pages;
http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0425166805/ref=sib_rdr_fm/103 -8868848-5535050?%5Fencoding=UTF8&p=S002#reader-page

It may appear a bit of a brainful, but it questions so much, an adds another aspect to the 'history' of our cosmos.

Stumbled accross an actual website for it now;
http://www.chariotsofthegods.com/

I read this book years ago, interest seems to have grown! I think I need to read it again since a few things were definitly controversial, like questioning the origins of Christ.

XB, in answer the channeling definitly struck a chord with me so good one! I find philosophy in any form facinating and I do agree that beliefs systems must come from ancient ones and what "Germane" / Lyssa says is interesting.

I'd want to compare 'Chariots of the Gods'with it and see if the belief system matches!

Special.

I'd love you to read this book. It is quite staggering in it's information. It has truths in it you will find quite easily.

It's called "THE MISSION" By Patrick Tilley.
I wrote him a bunch of letters and tried to get him on the phone a couple of times. He's very elusive about his sources. All I could get out of him is that he'd had a very profound 'experience' which propelled him to write the book. He lives on a sheep farm in Wales. Remember we were talking about Wales?

Ahh Wales.. there it is again! Gia, did I mention to you that I needed to get away for a bit on my own and was contemplating a Welsh cottage holiday mini-break? So beautiful, and clean air! My skin's playing up since moving to the city! I'm a country girl at heart

So this book; I may go and check it out at lunchtime. There's a Waterstone's round the corner. If you recommend it Gia, it must be good!

Knowing me, I'll buy the book. Book a mini-break to Wales. Go there. Climb to the top of the highest hill, once there, accidentally roll down the hill, into a field of sheep owned by a Mr Tilley himself.

Then of course I'll mention you!

Will let you know if I find it, or it finds me I hope the Universe slots into place for your research. How's that going?

i'm a-jumpin on the wales bandwagon! i did a semester in london, and next to salisbury that was my favorite weekend trip. a friend and i took a train out and just hiked around in the hills for two days. the first and only time i've ever been woken up by a sheep alarm!

thanks to both of you for your book posts - so much amazing information out there to ponder... have you guys read The Twelfth Planet?

it's so interesting to reread old myths and look at certain cultural practices from the galactic point of view. sometimes i wonder what we're really fighting over/for in iraq. and i have a feeling the gobi desert may be another goldmine of archaeological treasures.

fishkitten - if you're still out there - what's the academic theory for the advent of mummification? i guess if early egyptians did get this idea from the stars, then someone forgot to fill them in on the whole brain thing!

Hey, thanks for the info on The Twelfth Planet Xelena.. have heard of it, must look into it! That'd be interesting to look into the gobi actually; can imagine future digs would be very revealing!

Glad you enjoyed Wales!
