ooh ooh. i am curious how many of you have experience with lucid dreaming. i have had a couple of experiences. once, when a friend told me to pinch myself as often as i could rmember, and ask myself, 'am i dreaming?', then eventually i would ask myself in my dream and be lucid. i did it (pinched myself) ONCE, and had a lucid dream that night.

another time i flew around and hung out with my cats. or wait, this is astral projection, that one. cuz it was all real, my house, everything, was exactly as it was..

well, now my boyfriend is hooked on lucid dreaming, and he has been doing it lots. and having really neat things happen.. like really amazing. we have been agreeing to meet at my old elamentary school, but haven't yet. mostly cuz my dreams are seriously interrupted constantly (16 month old restless sleeper and teether sleeping beside me), but i have been conscious of dreaming in my dreams, and even remember vaguely *going* to my school, but he never dreamed that night, or doesn't remember them..

so what are some tricks? and i would LOVE to hear of any experiences!! thanks!!

I mostly have lucidity when I am in a bad dream - like when something scarey is happening I am saying to myself 'I'm dreaming, wake up cat, wake up' and I do. Phew!
I used to do it alot in a positive sense when I was a small druid, especially, not flying but running really, really fast like Robin Williams in 'What Dreams May Come', oh and when I was about seven and sleeping in my parents car I dreamt I woke up and drove the car home and I knew I was dreaming and I remember it so vividly! Am I completely off the track, or is this kinda what you mean?

Hello WWPS,

Strange things have been happening in my dreams. I'm practising all kinds of spiritual things, like astral travelling and being able to change the outcome (lucid dreaming). It's almost as though subconsciously, I'm using that time to further my spirituality. Very good time organisation on my part, hey?

Here's what happened in a dream I had about four weeks ago. It reminded me of that movie "The Butterfly Effect".

Essentially, in the dream, I got the chance to relive a situation, over and over again, changing things along the way, which in turn changed the outcome.

The basis of the dream was me visiting a bar (pub) with the intention of working there. On arrival, I met with a blonde woman to discuss my employment. She was interviewing me, on the recommendation of one of my friends who is in the hospitality industry.

What followed was essentially a tour of the premises, and then interaction with a variety of people (customers, other staff etc).

The tour weaved in and out of several rooms, all connected to a central hallway. The pub itself had lots of wood (floors, walls, bars and counters). The hall also had a wooden floor.

At the end of the tour, I was returned back to the pub, the point where I first met the blonde woman. Then she told me, if I wanted the job, I had to re-do the tour on my own, and reproduce every single event that happened. Everything had to be exactly the same, including body movements and dialogue - the interaction I had with others. Only, there would be a small change. I needed to do everything in a mirrored way. So for example, in the tour, a man entered the room from the left, followed by the woman from the right. And then I had a conversation with them both. This time on the tour, the man would enter from the right, and the woman from the left. I had to make those adjustments to complete the tour.

So off I started. At first, I found it hard to adjust and I looked to my left instead of my right to see the man enter. Like a computer game, each time I erred, I was taken back to the start of the tour to try again. And I'd try over and over, progressing a little further each time, only to be taken back to the start. I quickly learnt that I could change the outcome and I started to deliberately change the circumstance to see what would happen.

The dream was interrupted when my son woke me up. He wanted a drink.

I think there's a fine line between normal dreaming and premonition dreaming too. Last night I dreamt of a man and I saw him today, at the supermarket. I've never seen him before.

I was wondering exactly what is a lucid dream? Is it the awareness that your actually dreaming? or is it one of those dreams where everything is exactly as if it were real?
I've had plenty of both. I recall one where I woke up got out of bed brushed my teeth, got dressed, the whole routine in actual time only to then realize that I still needed to do those things because I was still sleeping.
I've also had horrible nightmares, or night terrors (years ago when I was suffering from clinical depression.) Horrible things happened to me the entire night and it looked as if it really happened in my bedroom.
Not too long ago I was feeling creatively blocked and noticed how my co-workers were getting alot of design work done and I was dragging. I had a dream that I was in some type of barn-like studio and was in a group situation where I needed to create work - almost like art school. Everyone was done with this sculptural installation except me. One by one the groups had critques and I was unprepared.I was totally in awe at their masterpieces. Then I realized "wait a second, I'm dreaming!" I created the building/architecture, all these people, all that artwork, all the conversations, everything!! How incredibly creative. I thought if it were only so easy when I am awake. I think we are all like that. Our minds are incredibly creative and powerful.

Wow, purple scorp--your dream would make an excellent movie, or a story!

Kat
I've had those dreams where you wake up and get ready (I'm usually late to something in mine) then I wake up and i really am late.

Kat,

Lucid dreaming is consciously knowing that you are dreaming and being able to control your actions or change the dream.

Here's a website that might answer some of your questions.

zoso, I enjoy writing as a hobby and I do get a lot of my stories from my dreams .

I have lucid dreams frequently. They usually involved deceased persons, angelic beings or people I have a psychic connection with. I'm quite conscious it's a dream during them and usually remember the dream in detail for some time afterwards.

I sometimes have "regular" dreams that segway into lucid dreams and the back into a regular dream, and when I wake up and the only part I remember vividly is the lucid part.

this is SUCH a fascinating subject!!

puple scorp, your dream is amazing! that is really, really interesting. i wonder if you could apply that technique (replaying and readjusting) more consciously in the future to work throo things.. (tired- not sure if this sentence makes the same kind of sense as my mental impression of what i'm trying to say! )

my boyfriend is getting pretty good at it and is having really cool, significant experiences.. it seems we are able to gradually bring the techniques to real life too.. after all, isn't this all a dream?

i've been having interesting waking visions since i met him, which i never really had in my life before. just a moment or three in which i SEE something SO clearly in my mind when i shut my eyes.. it is otherly; not a product of my imagination.. all of them have been comforting... but one was kind of weird- i shut my eyes and saw all these entities hovering.. people.. all hovering, and sort of floating, looking at me intently.. the only one i remember distinctly was a blonde woman at the front. it was soooooo surreal and amazing. i was sorta freaked by it tho, as i sensed they were dead, and they were trying to give me a message. i wonder if i'd kept in it if they would've said something..

i love these stories and musings!!

Hey wwps,

sometimes, I can return to a dream to continue, if I am woken in-between. This is particularly helpful if you are interrupted in the middle of a really interesting bit.

I tried to do this last night in fact . I ended up dreaming about something else.

I had another interesting "spiritual" dream, the night before last. I spoke to ghosts. I was staying in a particular motel room because I knew that it was inhabited by ghosts (who were married when they were alive). What stuck in my mind was that on the wall, it had their picture with their birthdates. They were both born on 22 June (same day as my son) which makes them 22 Master Numbers (same as me too).

Later that night, they appeared in an animated cartoon on the wall. They were wishing me Merry Christmas and then they asked me to go and tell management that they wanted to move on (and didn't want to "work" there anymore).

So now, I'm a ghost broker, lol.

cheers
