Hi! Dont know if this is the right forum, but what colour should you paint your front door, according to feng shui? It faces north-northeastwards.

I've heard yellow is supposed to be good... but I dont really like it!! Any advice?

Red is the most auspicious color, according to feng shui.

Don't forget your Bagwa Mirror on or near the front door. To reflect negative energies!

Oh thanks for the links Tigerlily. They were very useful. Philbird what's a Bagwa mirror? I was thinking of hanging up three I-ching coins behind my door as I've heard its meant to be lucky. Do you know of this?

Hello Moonshine! I don't believe we've formally met. A Bagwa looks like this.
On one side is a yin yang sign. On the other is a mirror. Like I said, to deflect negative energies. Not every Bagwa looks the same though. Hubby and I really Feng Shui'ed our apt! The coins are good too. We use the money frog, the fish, the wind chimes, the fountain: all inside the front door. For prosperity. Every feng shui book is going to say to place things in different places. I guess it's what you believe.

Hi Philbird! Thanks for the advice! sorry for my late reply.

When you hang the Bagwa mirror do you face the mirror towards the door or towards the room? How do you know if its not deflecting positive energy?

Anyway, Ive been going a bit crazy with feng shui-ing my flat lately! I've decided to paint my door a rich, bright, purple as an alternative to red, and put up coins behind it for luck. I also have put up a wind chime by my door and am going to get some silk flowers to put near the top of my stairs to move the chi around a bit as my stairs are right in front of my door so any positve chi I might have goes zip straight out the door!

I have also bought two shoe cupboards and shoved all my shoes in it to keep my hallway clear. I've read that shoes bring the outside in and can attract negative chi. And I have a LOT of shoes!!!

I have also printed out the Double Happiness symbol from Google, framed it and put it on the south side of my bedroom wall in the hope of attracting love!! (Dunno if it'll work though!)

A while ago my sister bought two sweet little goldfish (called Pearl and Jam, lol!) for luck - one gold, one black - except the black one turned gold, so not sure if thats a good thing. Anyway, they are so cute I luv em!

I'm planning a trip to Chinatown soon to get all my goodies! I like the sound of the indoor fountain...!!

Yeah, wow, feng shuiing sounds not only spiritually beneficial, but cosmetically pleasing too!

Yeah, I so love Pearl Jam. Does anyone know when they're going to release a new albumn - of originals? I thought the best of was pointless as they are all my best, but then the albumn has really rare songs like Breathe on it, which can't be a best of!

Anyhow, they're too cool...

Dean.

Sounds like you are having as much fun as we did! Technically, it is said to place 8 goldfish and one black fish inside your front door, on the left. (we have a black molly) Funny you should mention one of your fish going gold, so did one of ours! If one of the fish die, you are to replace it immediatly. The mirror part of the Bagwa should face away from your front door outside to deflect negative energies, believing that to be true allows the positive in. There are many, many different views on feng shui. If you talk with some folks in Chinatown, you may get more ideas. See if you can get a "Money Frog." They are said to bring wealth into your home. Good luck and have fun!

P.S. If you get terripin turtles, try not to overheat them!

Hello Moonshine!
I have some information I thought you might find interesting.
I have a Feng Shui Do's&Taboos book by Angi Ma Wong, here are some tips about doors and mirrors. She didn't mention anything about colour on a door though.
Doors: Do make sure you have a clear view from the front entrance of your home, in order to facilitate a clear view of the world.

Do use a small round or octagonal mirror or a shiny, flat metal doorknocker to deflect "poison" arrows, such as tree trunks, lamp-posts, fire hydrants, corners of neighboring buildings, church steeples, or other objects projecting Sha energy toward your home or obstructing your view.

DON'T use an all-glass front door; choose a solid door instead. A small, beveled window onthe door is acceptable. Too much glass does not offer protection for the home and allows prosperity to leak out.

Mirrors: DO use a Bagua mirror to deflect Sha energy that originates from straight lines or unpleasant neighbors. The red wooden frame is shaped like an octagon with a round mirror at its center. It is bordered in green with gold symbols fromthe I Ching, a sacred Chinese text. Be careful how and where you use it!

Do use reflective aids primarily for protection and only as a last resort.

DON'T use a mirror to harm someone.

Most importantly, Do hang octagonal bagua mirrors on the outside of your home, but never on the inside.

Lastly, Do use a flat octagonal or flat mirror to deflect Sha energy from common sources, such as garbage cans, dumpsters, or barking dogs.

hope this helps?
any other questions I'd be happy to help!
Peace and Love

Now Gia, I was almost over my grief! I'm not dragging out sad memories. It was a beautiful tribute though!

I don't know any Feng Shui, but I have all these weird little superstitions about my house.

for instance, a two-dollar bill hangs over the door for good luck; A string of bells is attached to the door itself to announce whoever may be entering or exiting, A black, cement bat-man face is guarding the front door on the outside, sitting on the mail-box; I never have mirrors facing beds, and I have various masks on the walls--like one that faces the door and scares bad spirits away. Or the one in my bedroom that helps with dreams.

I think maybe we all feng-shui in our own little ways. I take that back, some people don't bother with decorating or fixing their living areas (I used to live with one)

Don't know much about Feng shui, but I've had goldfish for years, and its natural for them to lose their color as they age... mine I've had ten years and they started out all different colors and now they're almost completely white - so don't worry!!!

(did you know they can live to be 30 - 40 yrs old?!!!)
