Topic: what happened to my spirit guide?

I'd like to know if any of you have had any experiences with spirit guides, and what your thoughts are on these.I used to do things like meditation and uncomplicated rituals with some friends of mine, and one time we decided to try and get in touch with our spirit guides. I can't remember exactly what we did, probably just made a protective circle and tried to feel the energies of our spirit guides. I did it by myself a few times too.
Anyway, I got the feel of this one spirit guide... she even let me know her name. She came to me as a beautiful woman with long, platinum hair (maybe she assumed that form because she knew I'm into Marilyn Monroe? Also, a quick question: do you believe that spirit guides have a certain shape or that they assume a shape that suits us best?). I just felt this warm, loving energy and a slight pressure on my forehead as if she was kissing it.
A few times when I did this whole thing with the circle and everything, sometimes I felt scared. Like one time, I had called on my spirit guide, and then I called to see if I had any other spirit guides. I felt this 'thing' behind my back, outside the circle (I had mentioned that they may not enter the circle if they intended harm), and it really scared me, but then I felt as if my real spirit guide put her arms around me to comfort me and let me know that there was no reason to be scared of the other thing, it couldnt hurt me. Anyway, all of these things were very subtle, except for the warm, loving feeling I got in the beginning. And now, a few years later, I've almost stopped believing. I don't know why, but it feels as if I just made up all of it. I really want to believe that she was/is real, but when I try to feel her presence these days, I no longer can. maybe it's because I no longer try whole-heartedly?
I would appreciate all your insights about spirit guides, whether you believe in them, or not, and whether you have any experiences. I would also appreciate comments on the 'technique' that I used for trying to talk to my spirit guides... How did you get in touch with yours?

Yes you definitely did not dream up your spirit guide. They are very real. He or She is with you from the moment you are born.
They can hear you, the only thing is is that it's very difficult for them to communicate through our atmosphere, meaning that to our spirit guide our atmosphere is like pea soup so imagine trying to speak to someone through this veil. You'll know when they're trying to communicate to you. It sounds like radio static. When you least expect it you'll hear them call out your name or maybe even move something from one place to another or come to you in your dreams or like you, when your meditating. That's the ideal way to try and commmunicate with your spirit guide. You know what linda goodman said: "When the student is ready, they will come." They come to you if your having an especially difficult time in your life.
I have spirit guide and his name is David.
I haven't seen him in my dreams in a while. That's how he came to me. I remember the dream so clearly. I'll never forget it. He was this big strapping man not chubby but just larger than life! He had long dark hair, he wore a cloak that reminded me of the kind of garb that was worn during the roman/greek era.He was a handsome benevolent looking man with dark eyes and he communicated with me without speaking but I could hear his voice and he said Hello, my name is David and I thought I may have smiled back at him because when I awoke I was smiling from ear to ear. I felt sooooo good! you know? there's really no other way to describe the feeling. The reason why I know this is because at the time I recently picked up a book about spirit guides by Sylvia Browne and within a few weeks or so he came to me. It happened when I least expected it. So Cassio, you're not alone! Not only do you have your angels looking over you but a spirit guide as well. Some people have more than one spirit guide but I know I only have one.

Hi Cassieopia,Ive been communicating with my spirit guides since I was a very little girl, and I know how you feel. Sometimes I stop and think and I wonder if I am crazy and if its all in my head. Well I found out I wasnt crazy when I was in highschool and took psychology courses one and two. I learned that mental illnesses that have symptoms of hearing voices in ones head, the voices usually speak of granduer or paranoia, my spirit guides voices didnt speak of any of those. Also when I took in account how many times they have helped me and comforted me, theres no way they could be made up! From what I have learned a guide will take whatever form they feel is comforting to you. The first 2 guides that ever came to me, they both presented themselves to me as my sisters, one was my "twin sister" and the other was my older sister. At the time I had really wanted an older sister and a twin sister. To this day those 2 are the ones I come in contact with the most, on a daily basis. Ive heard that a lot of people rename their guides alsoso their name doesnt really matter either. Anyways, my spirit guide Samantha (the older sister) once told me that it doesnt really matter where I believe the messages are coming from. Whether they are from my guides or from my own mind and higher self, the message is still as important. So because of that I think a lot of people speak to their "guides" and dont even know it, because they just think the messages are from themselves. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the replies!What is the difference between a spirit guide and an angel? I've always assumed that it's the same thing... I've decided I'll make an effort to get in touch with her again... At the time, she never really 'spoke' to me in the way that my friends spirit guides spoke to them, not with words that is, just that wonderful feeling of being loved, of not being alone, the feeling of being completely comforted and protected. That feeling was so real, it's the only thing that makes me think that I was not imagining the whole thing. That, and the fact that I learnt the name she had given herself for me (Cerenea). The difference between a spirit guide and an angel is that spirit guides have once lived on earth and angels have never been incarnated into any earthly form. IP: Logged |

Spirit guides? Wow, I've never heard about this stuff! I've never really meditated, but, humm, can anyone give me more information on this/how to reach a spirit guide?------------------

Hey Everlong,
Meditation is the key.
Find a nice quiet spot preferably when you are just about to go to sleep.
You can sit in a chair or lie on a bed and think of a place like the beach or a meadow, anyplace that you find peaceful and start to imagine that your spirit guide is coming towards you. Whatever happens just go with it! If praying for your spirit guide to come to you helps then you can do that or make up your own prayer.Peace and Love IP: Logged |

... And it might be helpful to make some kind of protective circle or space beforehand, and state that only positive energies may enter... I don't know if it's only me but sometimes I got scared that some other entity that didn't mean well would try and pose as my spirit guide. As I mentioned in my first post (I think), one time I felt something outside of the circle that made me a bit scared until my true spirit guide (or angel, haven't figured out what she is) 'comforted' me.IP: Logged |

the spirit guide is always with you and always answer. if you are not getting an answer it could be because you are going to receive new and higher spirit guide, and you are in a waiting period for the new. might be few weeks.IP: Logged |

You do have spirit guides from the time you are born and you also have ones that come and go all throughout your lifetime. Theres one spirit guide that everyone has from the time they are born, Ive heard other people refer to this spirit guide as the gatekeeper. Basically this spirit guide kind of supervises the others and also allows other guides to enter and exit your little spirit guide realm. IP: Logged |

Well, I guess this gets pretty complicated. The main spirit guide, I thought, is Linda's Higher Self (not hers, just hte notion). And then if you consider her theories about the soul peices in different bodies, then maybe each peice has it's own higher self or pupeteer and they all communicate, hence the other spirit guides. Not to mention other people and ghosts etc. The world sure is a busy place. I wonder if a lot of the background noise we pick up is due to ethereal "matter"? Anyhow, not to get sidetracked, If you liked someone, then your higher self might petition for you to their spirit guide, hence they feel you thinking about them or something, so I think the astral realm could get quite crowded...Dean. Well Dean I guess it depends on how you view it. The way I view it personally, my higher self is just that, my higher self, my true self. My spirit guides and guardian angels work with me to help me get closer to my higher or true self. However many believe that since we are created by God or Goddess, or whatever, that we are all in essence one. So that would mean that our true self and any other being created by the one are all one. So in that case, yes, your true self and your spirit guide(s) are also one. I know I mentioned earlier that my "main" spirit guide Samantha told me that it doesnt matter if I believe the messages are coming from her or my higher self. The reason why she said it doesnt matter is because the spirit guide and the higher self contain the same knowledge, because they are in fact one because they were created by one. i, too, have been out of touch with my guide lately.. seeing this thread reminds me of the loving guidance i've been closed off from. at one time a couple of years ago, we'd just talk. most of the occasions i can recall were outside.. me walking, asking questions pondering my life.. my guide has quite the personality.. somewhat of a smart ass, (not to offend.. i mean that as a term of endearment) a little bit rough at times.. i've been "bonked" by my guide on a few occasions.. always full of love, always pointing the way.. i've communicated with the winds as well. though i'm very unclear as to the how's of that.. do messages come from the wind? or was it just wrapped in wind's hands?

Laglady, your spirit guide and my spirit guides should go bowling. Many of my spirit guides are smartarses too. Probably because I am quite a smart arse myself and they know thats how they can speak my language...lol. But I assure you, youre spirit guides have not left you. MD- lol! I know this one lady (a family friend) who is a clairvoyant, and a while ago, I was practicing the Silva Method with her. Anyway, I went down to 'level zero' (basically a kind of trance state) and suddenly, this woman just popped into my head! I couldn't see how tall she was- actually I mostly just saw her face, but she was wearing a pretty sleeveless lavender dress. She has greyish eyes, beautiful wavy blonde hair, and the kindest smile I've ever seen- I think she looks a bit like Renee Zellweger. I had no clue who she was when I first saw her. Anyway, after I came out of it, I was like, Liz, I saw this woman... And before I could say anything else, she was like, yep, probably your guide cause she's right by you right now. I was like, yeah right so what dies she look like, huh? My fried described her as tall, slender, with wavy blonde hair, light eyes, and wearing a flowing purple dress. A weird similarity, huh?
