Ok you guys are way off except for the emotional antique feel. Should I reveal or give more clues?

You placed the container in a trunk, which looks quite like a treasure chest, in the roof attic. The chest holds clothes.

Can reveal some more? You mean we didn't get the physical appearance of the container right?

OK all - here it is.
The box is a lithographed tin can commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Lipton Tea. It was created in 1990 but looks very antiquey. It measures 4.5" wide by 5"high by 4.5" deep (sorry no metric conversion) Overall the colors are cocoa brown reds, yellow, teal, and black with touches of gold showing through. The square lid depicts a compass with a map and victorian flowers at the corner. The words "limited Edition" are printed in gold on black around the lid sides. The main part of the box has maps of ceylon and India faded back into the cocoa brown color. One side has a picture of a Tea Clipper and a description of has fast this ship was delivering teas from distant ports in China. Below are the words "Ceylon, Indonesia, China, and India. Another side in large lettering states "LIPTON" and on a red scroll the words "100 Years" are in gold. A lithographed line drawing of a sea Captain holds a cup of tea. A sticker in pinkish purple has the words "Since 1890 Lipton Tea" A third side has an image of a tea factory with the words "Tea Plantation" above it and a description of Sir Thomas centrally locating his factories...The fourth side has a blurb about "America's favorite tea and has this tin commemorates 100 years. The corners of the box has gold with black 1890's textile patterning.

Inside the box is a spool of salmon colored thread and a rubber band that sits on top of a bunch of white fluffy Kleenexes or facial tissues. below are three plastic packets of soy sauce.

I placed it on the top of my bookshelf in my bedroom.

I know this was a tough one, so I'll try making them easier in the future. I think the one thing everyone did get was that it was antiquey in look and feel and it is a beautiful box.
