2. It takes approx 8 hours(or is it minues???) before the Venusflytrap would open itself once its closed to an approacing insect.

The number 8 is very interesting.

Also,

*The number 8= 1 Octave.

*8= 2 x 2 x 2
=A cube.

* behind the 8 ball which means to be in a sticky situation.

*The atomic number of oxygen

*In Hinduism and the like- the wheel of life has 8 spokes

*The Buddhist faith has 8 steps

*The symbol for infinity looks like a side-ways eight.

Heres another fact related to astrology..
1. 8th house ruler is Scorpio. The veil between the two worlds.
Scorpio reminds us that death of some form is necessary for the transformation that follows.
That hypnotic look from a scorpio makes one think "Am I ready???"
Mars placed in that house would mean sudden/accidental death.

(Scorpions guards hidden mysteries to life and death. Their light gets you out of the dark night of the Soul. When you least expect they would bring themselves to life from jaws of death. Its also probable that they would be the cause of death of their closed ones. The success of a wall street broker and a ER staff is determined by this house placements. They are simply energetic.)

I remembered the thing the Mayans knew - also I believe the egyptians revered Venus because it was visible for 8 months or something and hence had to do with the gestation period? Hey, here's something from google's cache:
