Have you set aside one day for God,
Or six for the devil?

well, personally, god is always present in my life. even when I think I am alone, he is here. I forget to thank my higher power sometimes, but as humans who have strong desires and wants, I am sure that God foresaw these thing. I do not 'set aside' one day for him, and the rest for the devil. I know that he is always present in my life.., always here with me, and I acknowledge him in this way, always.

Just curious, what prompted you to post this message?

I guess because Sunday is a day of God and of rest ... you know, when you visit church and stuff ...

Just like Tuesday and Thursday are days of fasting in India in some parts, and stuff like that ...

Different strokes and all you know ...

I've been giving priority to my spiritual routine each morning and I am finding that it is greatly improving things.

"Whenever, in the course of the daily hunt, the hunter comes upon a scene that is strikingly beautiful, or sublime -- a black thundercloud with the rainbow's glowing arch above the mountain, a white waterfall in the heart of a green gorge, a vast prairie tinged with the blood-red of the sunset -- he pauses for an instant in the attitude of worship.
He sees no need for setting apart one day in seven as a holy day, because to him all days are God's days."

No blasphemy or disruptions intended ... just some errant random impulsive thoughts ...

The Pope died today ....

I guess he went straight to Heaven ...

I desperately hope he did.

He lived his life by the book ... better than any of us ...

Im sure he took the elevator straight to heaven or at least the place that was heaven in the temple of his soul.

Because if it didnt happen that way ... if there was even the slightest, minutest hitch in that ride; then there is no hope for any of us. None at all.

I think the time is right for me to bow out of this beautiful reality I have created for myself ... this illusionary circle of friends and miracle workers in this dream world called LL ... named after the biggest saint of our times.

I was hit by a very profound thought today. I realised, how I am desperately trying to cling to this reality; trying to make it my own when it never can belong to anyone ... How I am trying to mold it to a comfortable pattern, where it is the right fit for the security blanket I need to escape when the 'real' world is too much for me.

When all this time, the true happiness, the true source of strength and peace that I seek was hidden deep within me ... its amazing how I forget that fact again and again and how life humbles me and reminds me of who I am. And its so glorious, the feeling of returning to my roots, to my own identity and realizing how great it is ...

So this is a formal goodbye, to all who care to read ... it was an amazing journey through Lindaland ... I learned a lot and reaped the harvest of your wisdom and compassion and I only hope I am able to return even half of what I got - when the time is right.

I love all you guys, because of the amazingly open and giving people you are; because of this undying spirit of optimism you have to keep this place as a beautiful haven for lost souls and the shelter you offer to those who have lost their way.

I will not say I have all the answers; but yes, I think I got closer to them because of thsi place.

Thank you all you wonderful knowflakes and I wish all the happiness and peace to each one of you.

Maya, I dont know what to say.

I'm glad if you have learned to stand on your own two feet. But, I think its strange that you feel you would have to retreat from social engagements in order to do so. Maybe you should think about this.

As for the worship thing, this is but one day. One moment. I don't realy think it's possible to worship for a set day, and yet I see the importance of setting aside time to align yourself with the one again. 'tis a quandary. As for the devil, there is so much in society that seems evil, and like people worship that, but I think that is just the nature of evolution. Lets see how we are in 50 years without petrol

Dean,

But, aren't you really just saying that you recognize the importance of setting aside MOST of your time to align yourself with everything that you feel is not 'the one'?

I agree, about evolution, by which I take you to mean that evil, from a historical standpoint, is necessary...

However that may be, living in the present moment, we find ourselves involved 'up to our necks' in a process of conscious evolution, whereby we are confronted, point-blank, with a choice between what we take to be good, and what we take to be evil.

In that sense, the devil is very real indeed.

Our bodies are the temples if we allow them to be...and then there is no seperation. (And the heck with the other guy.)

"saying that you recognize the importance of setting aside MOST of your time to align yourself with everything that you feel is not 'the one'?"

I don't understand what you're asking here, but, like wildflwrs said, there is no seperation. I don't believe in the devil, and yet, I do believe in evil. I don't know where it comes from, but I suspect society as a whole forms a bell curve, where the middle is the average nice person, and the ends represent evil and love. The middle can shift according to society's attractions. When I said it's necessary for evolution, I think I meant this shift. Eventually, as a child understands how to be nice, so will humanity learn to be humane. And yet, some children are punished for being nice. I think ultimately communication is everything, which I think is increasing rapidly on Earth, so maybe peace will arise. Have you heard of the bubble fish? I haven't installed one, but theoretically, you could read any language around the world, and hence the internet will transcend all boundaries. Then will we have another tower of Babel?

Dean.

Well said Dean.
I believe we are in agreement. The point I was making is that, if there is a separation, we create it. When we set aside a given time to commune with The All, we are still reserving the rest of our time for ourselves.

No God is God.
- The Upanishads

To a woman who prayed with her butt in the air,
I remarked in passing, 'God is also behind you.'
- Diogenes the Cynic

Altars And Pulpits

Our backs are turned to God;
No wonder we don't see 'Him'. -
That's the trouble with having a back.

Some say God is also a man;
His back is always turned on someone.

Everywhere, men go to men to find God.
Pulpits are built where altars grew;
Stages for men; theaters for God. -
The actor is easy to distinguish
(He's always the one
Not facing the cross).

These narrow theater walls -
Someone must always stand outside them.

They say that God is in the church,
But every week they look there.
I think they will go on looking.

God is known by His absence.
Don't we all feel this presence?

Who said 'there are no contradictions'?
He only spoke half-truths.

Don't you think God depends on us? I'd like for Him/Her to be able to depend on me. Just the other day I just happened to be somewhere to provide a ride for someone who I am acquainted with because she was ill. We can make ourselves available. It feels good to be guided to help others.

Q:

Don't you think God depends on us?

A:

God has given us the generosity to provide for all Her needs.

God will never ask anything of us that we would not more readily give.

Slightly off topic, but this from Sesame

quote:
a bell curve, where the middle is the average nice person, and the ends represent evil and love.

got me asking.

In my opinion/belief the opposite of love is indifference. Evil is a particularly nasty & persistent form of fear.

Is this a lonely point of view? Do you see love & evil somehow paired or tied together?

I don't know if this helps- but I noticed something within the words LOVE & EVIL.
If you put LOVE near a mirror it woud read: EVOL.
If you replace the letter 'O' (circle of eternity) with an 'I' (a linear line) then you get the word: EVIL.
