The only thing I know about Manu is that Lord Manu was considered to be the incarnation of what Hindu scripture called God. He wrote Mannu Simiritis which because of misinterpretation and misuse by the priests brought about the idea of being born into the caste system. He didn't intend for that to be the case. Where is the obituary? I've never heard about Linda's connection to Mannu. I would like to know more.Blessings IP: Logged |

Did some research for ya. Found the following. As per Hindu beliefs, Manu was the first man to exist. The primordial father of the human race and sovereign of the earth who first instituted religious ceremonies and devised a code of laws. I've also found traces of him being the hindu version of Noah. Sanskrit definition of man, in Indo-European roots. Maori word for a bird. List goes on and on but varries greatly it seems. Interstingly enough though the egyptians believed manu to be 1 of 2 mountains that held up the sky. And I know that manu is a rainforrest preserve in peru ( Been wanting to go there for so long now)but I could not find the english translation for the incan word. Funny how many different meanings a word has to different people. I'll research this more later see what other things I can find. I know this isn't specificly what you were looking for but I'm a nerd and find it interesting how the word varies from place to place on the earth. I'll share more later. -Peace ------------------ CupofJoe13 "We are the middle children of history, with no purpose or place. We have no great war, or great depression. I came across the following in a search:"Mannu: (?) a religion founded by well-known astrologer, Linda Goodman. The teachings were a mixture of the teachings of St.Francis of Assisi and Native Americans. However, I could find no current information on this group." http://www.denelder.com/astrology/astrol02.html#Goodman,%20Linda If you scroll further down that link it also says this under the heading of Goodman, Linda: "See Linda Goodman WebPage, for not only personal information and writings, but check out The Linda Goodman Academy, which begins August 6th, 1999." This is the link to the "Linda Goodman WebPage" that they have: http://www.lindagoodman.net/Dating-Online-Personals/dating-online-personals.php Odd. *Also, there was another thread here in the Linda's Life forum that addressed this same issue though I haven't looked through the whole thing. Here's the link: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000012.html

Found this link: http://www.akasha.de/~aton/Meja/MejaIsis.html It goes into LOTS of different things but refers to Mt. Manu in relation to Isis/Osiris. I looked that up: MANU. . The mythical mountain on which the sun set. The region of the western horizon. One of two mountains that held up the sky, the other being BAKHU. These peaks were guarded by the double lion god, Aker. ABTU. . The Greeks called this place Abydos. It was the seat of worship of Asar (Osiris). It was also called Busiris, "the house of Asar (Osiris)". Egyptian tradition says that the sun ended his daily journey at Abydos, and entered into the underworld here, through a gap in the mountains called "peq". In the 12th dynasty it was believed that the souls of the dead entered into the afterlife here. http://www.africawithin.com/kmt/glossary.html Here's a link to more info regarding Noah/Manu: http://theosophy.org/tlodocs/symbols/ArkThe-0375.htm Another interesting link: http://www.wisdomworld.org/additional/ListOfCollatedArticles/TheSacredFires.html
p. 168 p. 169 his Eye it becometh night. [I am] the Water-god Het when he giveth commands, whose name is unknown to the gods. I illumine the Two Lands, night betaketh itself to flight, and I shine by day and by night. 1 I am the Bull of Bakha 2, and the Lion of Manu 3. I am he who traverseth the heavens by day and by night without being repulsed. I have come by reason of the voice (or, cry) of the son of Isis. Verily the blind serpent Na hath bitten the Bull. O thou poison which floweth through every member of him that is under the knife, come forth, I charge thee, upon the ground. Behold, he that is under the knife shall not be bitten. http://www.sacred-texts.com/egy/leg/leg28.htm Yet another: http://crypt.eldritchs.com/texts/botd/ebod13.html ***
Much to ponder, considering that Linda tied this name to St. Francis and the American Indians, no? I'll have to think a bit more on this.
