I was going to write something beautiful, something so inspiring, something so utterly poignant, that just glancing at it would make people want to get up and do something. But I can't. So instead, I'm going to just state it simply, without any flowery dressing.

There must be something we can do! About everything! About the oceans, the poor, the hungry, the forests, the priaries, the lies! And I want to, and I can, do it now. I know I can. Not just me, I'll need help, and I'll need guidance, but I know I can make a difference.

A friend of mine was saying how there was nothing good about anything, how nothing was going to get better, how itd be just better if the humans just kill themselves, so the world can start over again without us messing it up. She said that people will be corrupted, no matter what I do. She said that there's nothing we can do, and we should just go with the flow.

But if we do that, then we let too many things get out of our grasps. We let too many things happen, horrible things. Seals are being killed in Canada, forests are being burned and cut, rivers are having poop dumped in them. None of these are new, but just because their old issues doesn't mean they don't matter.

I mean, there must be something we can do, something! We should not give up so quickly! There must be something we can do. Something I can do.

There's always something to do to make the world better.

But what?

I don't know. But what?

For every person that has hope and is willing to do what they feel they need to better everything, is doing something! It doesn't have to be big, and never do it out of guilt!
I make a point to do little things like...
Not step on bugs, or intentionally kill anything.
Pick up litter. Leave dog poop, it's good fertilizer!
After a good talking to by a true friend, I stopped contributing to the negetive thinking about the world! I concentrate on what I can do that is positive and not take responsibility for other people's decisions! (governments, your friend...) The more you vibrate to the negetivity, the more you attract it. The universe hears your intent, really! It's from your heart! Be proud of that! There are many others that feel the same way, things will get better!

Christina and Philbird... Flowery words and elegant pages of prose could not surpass the emotions and altruism you both have expressed towards this planet and all the life upon it!!!! Those are truely the first steps all of us can choose to take, towards the healing and renewal. your attitudes and desires to help, to do something, will have more effect than you may realize!!!!!

I don't know, isn't there more we can do? I've already gone without lunch for a bunch of times, giving my money instead to my babystiter (she baby sits my little sister) I gave her nine dollars, for each of the nine children in her family. I wrote words on it (in spanish too!) and gave her all of my stuff animals, for the littler ones. I mean, that's not much, but it was something, right? It made them happy, didn't it? I love getting gifts, and they must too, especially since gifts for them are so rare. But aren't there more to do? More to help the oceans? Or the forests? The people? Giving all my stuff animals away won't affect how the air is polluted, or how...how horrid everything is. I know there are things I can do, and others can do, if only they were to know that they have the power. I never used to think I have the power, and now I know. Maybe that's all the grown ups and children need--to know they are not just one in a million, but something special, a god and goddess in themselves.

how can our attitudes and desires help? God, I wish I had so much physic power, so much energy and love and whatever it is you need, and just give Everyone a hug, give the animals a little cuddle, the starving children a tight squeeze, the earth...bagh! I can't write!

But...there are more that we can do, aren't there? More then just picking up litter, leaving dog poop (which we can get fined for) and wishing the Earth love whenever we can...there should be something more solid...I already have a friend, maybe two, who will do something to help, something solid, something physical.

Something big, and beautiful.

Christina...
lejionera in a post in Labors Of Love, said:
QUOTE:
"do not seek wealth out of suffering.."

He is so right! Jesus/Yeshua and Buddha said such words. Live your goodness, set an example. To paraphrase Jesus/Yeshua, there will always be people needlessly suffering, look at the good things you have! That is the first step, to take from the world only what you need, and share the excess. But you must first take care of yourself and your needs. Charity begins at home, and so does love. It does no good to serve up your life like some martyr to causes if it destroys your life in the process. You are young, and you have much potential. You cannot be given the keys, the answers, you must experience what comes in your life, then you will begin to know what you are to do and able to do. I bid you to not let the woes of the world draw you into apathy. This happens to far too many when they reach adulthood, but not spiritual maturity. Do not burn your flame so hot, so bright and fast so that it burns up your enthusiasm before you reach adulthood! Slow down, it will be fine, especially as more are growing up with your attitude towards our world!

I agree with Fayte, don't burn up all your energy and then quit out of exhaustion! Slow but sure wins the race!

I second Fayte for what she has written. Start out with little things and you will soon be doing greater stuff without even realizing it. BTW did you know how much a poor will value your kindness? It will be the greatest thing for him to have some kindness from a strnger. Go out and do what little you can for whoever you can without bothering how big it is for you, but think how much it will mean to the person you are doing for!!

Thank you Ruman and Philbird! Christina.....I have slept in cardboard boxes, in churches whose doors were left open at night, and Good Will donation bins. I have foraged in dumpsters and grocery store vegetable trimmings bins.
My life has since for many years gone beyond that, and while I am far from materialistically wealthy, I try to help those I can. I saw a lady digging for food from a dumpster, so being that I was buying myself some lunch, I bought two and gave her one and a couple dollars. I was in a restaurant another time and a girl I did not know well, only that she was an insulin dependant diabetic; was acting strange. I knew she was poor and often couldn't afford more than a cup of coffee. She was hungry and so I bought her breakfast, even though I then had no money for my own breakfast! When she was done eating, she begain to cry. It seems she had not been eating well, was also pregnant and had been to the emergency room twice that week for hypoglycemia(dangerous blood sugar drop, from not eating). Well there was not much I could do but feed her and listen to her; which I did on and off for about a month, whenever I found her there. That was a few years ago, and her life has improved. She is married and has two healthy lovely children. Then there was a young man, 17 years old. No one wanted to help him or talk to him, because he scared them. I saw through his multiple body piercings, his numerous scary looking tatoos, his makeup and bravado. Around me he was calm, and sweet, and I found out, intellegent and wanting to improve his life both spiritually and materialistically. I fed him many times also, and was there as often as I could be, to give him a shoulder, to literally cry on. I listened to him without judgement, only giving him caring advice and hugs. As for animals, I do not have any pets at the moment, but I always had them fixed so they would not add to the over population of unwanted pets. I also use to catch domestic cats that had gone feral, and then tame them, and take them to the vet to be fixed. It was not inexpensive, but I figured that once I fed them, it was my responsibility to help them. To cut costs, I'd order rabies and feline distemper/leukemia vaccinations by the 10 animal dose vials, and give the injections to them myself. That is sort of dangerous, so please be careful around wild animals! I wore heavy leather long gloves and other appropriate attire to keep from being scratched or bitten. It is the little things that can help, and continue to do do, even after we have done our part. A kind word, a cup of soup, a rescued kitten, it all starts with the little things that make a real difference to those in need!!!!!

Yes indeed Fayte!
I'd love to have a great "know" (instead of talk) with you. But I honestly wouldn't have any words. I am humbled by your existance. I'm glad you are "out there" to help take care of the world.

I live in a pretty good neighborhood, and there aren't a lot of people who...needs help. Most people here are rather snappish, I mean, like, people who don't need help, and don't want help, you know? But once in awhile I'll be going downtown via train, and I'll be sure I bring a few dollars. The only thing is, right now, all I know to help that I can help, is giving away money, and giving things away. I've already given all my things and belongings away (the ones that don't mean anything, and that I do not need) and now I've nothing else left. And money--I really don't have that much money, my folks don't want to "spoil me" (which means cloth shopping once a year, and food...psh! who needs food...lol) and I can't get a job (mummy said no) ::sigh::

Faye...thank you for doing all of those things, for all those people. And I'll follow suit in ur footsteps, whenever I get a chance and schedule allow.

I think the best thing we can do for another is to give love and hope. Frequently we want to fix someone else's situation when we really don't know if they are on this spiritual path for a reason beyond our understanding. If we extend however we can without totally taking on their issue, I think that's best. Sometimes people need to find their way on their own. It's the difference of "give them fish or teaching them to fish." In the case of nature, animal, etc. I think we need to be even more proactive because they do not have a voice. Yet, it's still important to see all the sides of the issue since there may be a science/social issues behind the situation that needs more looking into.
