Ok...heres the thing. My full name is Christina Eavyn Warner, except Eavyn is not my legal middle name. Another is. ANd I dont wanna tell because with it, I get the vibration 17, and it also has some nasty lexigrams in it as well. I really really prefer Eavyn, I mean, after ajust a school year of using my new, nicely choosen middle name, it seemed as if it is mine. So, I was originally going to have my mom help me change it, but apparently you gotta get a lousy lawyer and all, and then have to go to court, and then have to give a creditial reason (not like I can go up and be like, Yeah, I wanna change because with it, I get the vibration 17, along with some nasty lexigrams) and then it'll also cause several thousand dollars. SO, I dont know what exactly I should do. Should I just continue using Eavyn, and ignore the other one, until report cards and my driver liscence pops out? Wait--for permits, and driver's licsence, are you allowed to put down a middle name that isn't on your birth certificate? Oh, and this legal middle name was chosen before too--it wasn't like I was born with is, so we're not altering my destiny or whatnot. Either way, so, how should I use my new middle name and have its vibration work, wihtout getting rid of the legalized one?

I mean...to go to college, you'll gonna need the legalized one, right? Can't you just do...like Christina Eavyn Warner even though Eavyn is not hte real one? Argh! Why must you pay so much to have your name changeD!!! And a lawyer even? I mean, my parents said that I could, when I turn eighteen...but still...help?

Does anyone know anyone who can change it without all the bother? Can that even work?

Hi,

I'm currently in the process of changing my name also. Maybe the process varies by state? Here, in California I was able to hire a paralegal to do the legal work. A good paralegal may save you a lot of money. If you're a student o low income, they may have a fee waiver on court filing fees. Some paralegal's also allow you to get on a payment plan. As for a reason, I just wrote down that a name is a central part of one's idenity. Therefore, its important to relate to one's name. I'm dropping my first name and adding another one because 1) I've never used it, always gone by my middle name 2) My grandma picked my name, my mother herself hates it

hmm...why do we need them anyway? Sigh...I think if I ever do have to go to court and all, and they want a reason, I'll just say I dislike it...though its a common enough middle name...sigh.

Cooll..I hope you get your name changed soon! Oh! I know. I should get married! DOn't you get your name changed anyway once you marry? lol...jk...

Hi Eavyn-

I changed mine too- similar reasons. I had to get a petition at probate court then take out an ad in the paper- apparently it is commonplace and serves as a public notice. then clip out ad take to court on your appt. day and tadah! new name. Actual result may vary (state to state). HTH
