When I was around 8 years old I was blessed with a gift( so my mom says). I was able to hear messages from my deceased relatives, (i.e. my mom's father, mother, brother, etc).
As far as I can remember I could even ask them questions and get answers.
I could actually see their figures and distinguish with whom I was speaking to. At the time it never scared me...it seemed almost natural. After a couple of years..other adult family members would ask me to find out about their future, that's when it became troubling. I felt so much pressure to give them accurate information that I just couldn't handle it anymore.
I asked my mother to please make it stop, she didn't understand at first, she told me that GOD gave me this gift for a reason..but after much dismay she prayed and soon I was unable to hear anything.
Long story short, now I'm 31, and I have a void as far as my purpose in life is concerned, I wondered for years about the gift and if I still have it. My mother says that GOD never takes a gift back.
My problem is I want it back. I have never spoken to anyone outside my immediate family about this, probably because noone would believe it. Can anyone relate to my situation?

I can't say for sure, but my guess would be that if you once had these gifts, then they are still available to you. As far as their disappearance so long ago, it possible that the pressure you were under was strong enough for you yourself to block these communications? Perhaps now that you're older, you are better prepared to deal with your gifts.

Personally I don't think these abilities could disappear. It sounds like your family members were asking you to use these gifts in ways that you felt were inappropriate, and maybe you felt exploited. Taks some time, get in touch with yourself again, and you may find your way back to your abilities.

Thank you for your time and advice, I will try the exercise with my third eye,(I have heard the term before but I didn't know I had one).
Forgive me, I have very little knowledge of the content of my abilities and where they stem from, but I am so grateful to have found this website and to receive such informative feedback.

I just Googled Reiki and I will read up on it after I finish this post.(thanks for the suggestion
I only wish that I could share this with the man that I love, how fortunate you are to have someone in your life that can share that with you. My boyfriend believes that the little bit that I have shared with him is either grossly exaggerated or demonic,(and he doesn't even know about the witches and other psyshic women in my family).
I would have asked one of them about my gift, but I have a feeling that I can't trust them, which brings me here.
I would love to get some of my experiences off my chest, and get some feedback. I will post again soon.
