I just finished watching Bram Stoker’s Dracula by Francis Ford Coppola. This is the second time that I watch it and it has stroked a cord in me… Even stronger that it did the first time… I recently read the book but it’s not as moving as the film. After watching the film I thought I’d love the book… But I actually thought that the original strory was in fact too cold, detatched, even misogynous. But the film is so different… As soon as the motives for darkness and cruelty are true love everything changes… It drags me to tears, deep inside me something cries for a tortured soul who loved so much that it was driven to obsession. To endure the curse of the forsaken. Something powerfully visceral moves in my subconscious for a long lost love in the distant past. A soul that I would give my life for… That film makes me understand the monster, makes a soul like mine forgive him, which is quite rare (and scary) in me with my rigid high standards… Because he loved. He truly loved. No matter the price. He wanted revenge for her. Her innocent bride. Because he chose the wrong path for the right reasons. I wonder if you have the same reaction when you watch the film or it is just me… Because it’s so weird. It resonates within me. Like a dark secret long forgotten. Is that why I always feel so dragged towards Scorpios? As if I once was a Mina Harker, an Elizabetta...

I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!!!!!! Another good one is the one with Frank Langela!(Dracula). And of course the old series.... "Forever Knight". I bought the first two seasons but I do not know if they will release the 3rd. season to Video! I hope they do! The St. Germain Vampire novels are lucious! Then there was one about a vampire from ancient Rome..."Blood Games"....not sure of the author. The book "The Hunger" I did not care for...but the movie with David Bowie was great! Interview With A Vampire...another movie! Starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise! Oh my....now I have to watch them again! IP: Logged |

Thank you guys, for your replies! WOA, Fayte...You appear to like the vampire theme, don’t you? I have watched others but they never caught me in such a way… This scpecific film drags me to another level… That sweet and trembling adoration the beast feels for the pure maiden… His love, his light, the reason of his sacrifice… I always get fascinated with Scorpio kind of characters in films… Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars, Aquiles in Troy, general Maximus in Gladiator and of course, the magnificent Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Those films made me cry, clutch a nerve within me leaving me breathless and keep me altered for days… Heros or monsters, it doesn’t matter, the same to me… Same kind of soul… Their eyes, even when their fixed gazes are only part of their interpretation, appear to be awakening a memory… and my heart trembles… “I’ve seen those eyes before…” Ice and steel burning of pasion… Broken and tortured soul… It’s kind of “Someone has looked at me that way before”. With that passion and devotion. Sue… You may be right… Part of my learning… I have had two Scorps in my life. They tore me to pieces. There was little soaring, it was mostly hell… Neglect… Or suffocation. I wonder if I mistook them for the one I’m looking for… Why am I so pulled to that kind of energy? Pluto energy… (Curiously, my North Node is only 1º apart from my natal Pluto… ) I’m looking for those eyes I remember. Those eyes burnt with fire in my soul. I see them in my dreams, at least I used to… I recognise them in the movies…

Thank you Lotus! I truly appreciate your words. They give me hope. Because I know you feel energy flows in Nature, you sense things that others can’t… The same as my beloved Fayte and Sue… You are magical, ladies…I stopped praying a long time ago. When I realised that I had been abandoned here and it was all my own job to do. I had to fight. To fight my life across. I had to learn and grow stronger on my own. He must be somewhere. He can’t be that far… The darkest hour comes before dawn… but it keeps getting darker and I can’t find those eyes…

Well, guys, I’m not sure that I actually liked the novel... Probably I was expecting something more similar to the film… But the love factor was missing, so Dracula remained as a soul-less demon, a cruel and ruthless creature, purposeless thief of blood and life… Just out of avarice and pride. It’s a cold story, with no space for mercy or redemption… Women are pictured as weak souls, modern Eves, tools for demonic powers to slave humanity, the good and straight men of Earth. And those demonic powers are nothing more than Nature as opposed to the Christian God… Aren’t those men killers as well, fanatic murderers of nature, disguised into paladines of the Light? The destruction of the beast is nothing else than the destruction of the eternal femenine by the the holy patriarchs… The novel is dark but not for the obvious reasons… In context, it shows the scary reality of past centuries in the civilised world…I think F.F. Coppola did a great job adapting it to modern times… The message of the movie is completely different… IAT, I haven’t seen the Broadway Phantom of the Opera… Is it similar to the 2005 movie with Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum? All that singing made the story lose intensity… But I bet the character was a Scorpio too!!! Hexxie… That sentence made me quiver… It’s so powerful… While watching the film, all the intensity building up just collapses and I burst into tears.. My favourite in the film, no doubt…

Hi Steelrose, Yes the movie was made from the broadway. I haven't seen the movie and afraid to see it because I already saw the broadway show. I am not sure if he is a Scorpion. May be.

Well, if I had been that lady, I couldn't have resisted the Phantom...I supposed accepting his deformed face would have been a test, but I know I'd had melted down... I'm predictable prey for Scorpio men, I suppose... I don't know if that's good or very bad, actually... IP: Logged |

I love Gary Oldman. He's awesome. The movie's fine, but not one I'd rush out to own.I like the harsh, artful films that contain at least the possibility of being true. A Clockwork Orange, Fargo, Fight Club, etc. Maybe my earthiness keeps me from fully embracing fantasy, and even science fiction. I'll watch those, but they seldom capture my imagination in a meaningful way. IP: Logged |

Hi Acoustic I also like Gary Oldman… I think he’s perfect for the part… That dark, mysterious and deep essence he transmits so well… It’s funny because what I like of other those films such as Dracula, much more fantastic if you like, is the wild possibility of them being actually true… What is not obvoius, what is beyond previsible reality catches my imagination and my deepest emotions… Because they make you feel that another reality is possible, far from the cruel, tedious and predictable day-to-day events… I’m also an Earth sign… But I bet Neptune is far too powerful in my chart to be unnoticed It’s conjunct with my Moon ans Ascendant in the 12th house… I am a realist with the soul of a dreamer…
