Would anyone like to venture what/who my 18-month-old daughter's talking with?

When we're out of the room (or out of eyeshot) she has complete conversations with a person or people (or...whatever) unknown - she talks and gestures, waits, and will repond, perhaps laughing, to what's been said.
She'll even say, "Right back!" if she's going to leave the room.
I've peeked in, and she's not doing this with her stuffed animals or dolls - just "empty space".

I'm not at all disturbed by it (so no reassurances needed ), just curious.

I believe she's simply talking to an imaginary friend. That's my first intuition at least.

I can't remember her chart excatly, although I know you've posted it before. Wasn't she the one with a Gem moon or something? I vaguely remembering saying she'd be very social, eager to interact, and precocious?

Anyhow, it's probably just "cognitive rehearsel": she's just rehearsing her newly learned social skills with an imaginary friend and "trying out" social behavior she's observed. She's the right age, more or less (a tad young, but I did say she'd be precocious). Have you ever been around a pet parrot, especially young macaws? These are highly social, intelligent animals, and will spend large amounts of their time rehearsing vocalizations or other social behavior they learn form other animals ot their owners. That's why if you leave a macaw alone ina room for a while, he/she usually starts chatting away. Human children aren't that much different (in fact most parrots have an intellect very similar to a small human child).

Anyhow I don't get the vibe it's anything "otherworldly."

thirteen - I find people are too eager to put sensational spins on what is in fact simple and mundane. there's actually nothing extraordinarily psychological about this type of behavior in a small children, so I see no reason to conclude it must be "spirits."

As for children "not being blocked" - perhaps, but not all children have playtime with spirits. I would hesistant to assume that unless teh child indicated in some why they were speaking to spirits. Otherwise, I see nothing wrong to allowing a child to have a very full, colorful and active imagination on her or his own.

It could very well be that, GN - she is quite social.
(I kinda just wanted to make sure - I'm about a psychic as a rock, except about silly things..."Who's calling?" "Dad..."; "I should turn...here," and wouldn't be able to tell if it were anything but.)
She's started yelling, "Hello!" to anyone who passes by our yard (and I've already told you about some of her other tendencies; and then she kept trying to walk off with groups of kids during Halloween.)

Quick! EVERYONE! BE MY FRIEND!

(Heh, I hope she doesn't get too aggressive with that )

She sounds so much more mature when talking with her "people"; it has all the cadence of a normal, adult conversation...she's just speaking Ewok-pigen-English or something.
___
Her chart, just for reference (for GN or anyone else who's interested):

proxi -
have you asked your daughter who she was speaking to? if not, try one day start off by asking with pleased/passing interest, you understand - "whose your friend?" or "what's that they're wearing?" or "what's their name?" it doesn't hurt to ask, right? let me know how it works out, okay?

It's hard to say, isn't it?

It must be pretty interesting for you, in any case, to eavesdrop on her "conversations."

I believe it is possible that children are more "open" than adults. That is, if these types of things truly exist.

Gemini Nymph... I'm curious-- do you believe in spirits at all, or are you simply opposed to people who are too quick to assume that the supernatural is the answer?

*BTW, Prox, I am not lumping you into this category. The way the question is phrased could possibly sound accusatory, and this is not my intention.

As amisha said, definitely ask your daughter.

I wouldn't dismiss spirits, Prox. We love to discount spirits in favor of modern psychology, but I'm not sure that's always for the best. "Imaginary friends" may have always been spirits we 'un-learned' to see.

After all, Hobbes was only invisible to cynical grown-ups. But we could see him.

Why don't you write to FK and see what she has to say? She's probably the most psychic person I've ever known. And she's probably enjoy hearing from you, too.

Prox... My daughter is a Taurus/Gem moon..
She is older (8) but i remember when she was between 2 and 3... she would have all kinds of imaginary stuff going on... and i was invited because i asked to be.... i was a little worried(virgo).. okay a lot worried at first... but as it turned out it was much like GN described.... she would role play stuff she was exposed to... wether it be Dora the explorer or a conversation she tuned in on... She would have fabulous tea parties too.. sometimes all by herself.... i did however, notice this starting right after a change in her day to day... I had to work away from home for a while and she started staying with a friend a couple hours each day... new exposures.. new schedule... and being only somewhat fixed she started this.. i believe as a way to cope with change.
She just stopped doing it one day... about 6 months from the start. I just let it play out but... with my ever watchful Virgo eyes...lol

It is quite possible that children are in touch with the other side. There has been overwhelming incidences where kids are seen to be in company with spirits/ghosts - nothing to be worried int he first place.

I also remember Linda herself mentioning in Star Signs that children before the age of 7 are more in tune with spiritual realms because their Pineal glad is active. Pineal glad or Thrid Eye is the key that holds the answers!

I've heard of kids that have spoken to guardian angels and they sometimes come down and visit them.

Might even be a family member who has passed on.
