Yesterday, Dec. 1 was a New Moon.

Does anyone have good ideas for productive rituals during the New Moon?

Here's one from Silver Ravenwolf:

Silver RavenWolf’s Universal Candle Spell

For this spell you will need a white candle, a small glass of empowered water and five small objects you can toss on a white cloth – such as seeds, dried beans, shells, coins, gems, etc. If you do the spell now, we are in a first quarter moon (Capricorn on the 3rd) – so you might want to keep that in mind in matching your desire. For simplicity sake, let’s assume you are using coins.

The following spell was designed for use in almost any category of need. First, read the spell carefully. Visualize each line. For example, the first line creates a magick circle, the second line is telling you to “shift” into a calm state of mind. The third is about raising energy, the fourth speaks of touching and opening your third eye. Loop and circle in the third stanza refers to the infinity sign. Throughout the poem, think what the words mean to you, personally. Now, read the spell aloud to get the rhyming down where you feel a comfortable flow. The skin on your arms may tingle or your hands may grow warm. Physical manifestations of energy circulating throughout the body are common during magickal work. Before you actually use this incantation, think carefully on your desire and either have a clear picture in your

mind, or a physical representation to help you focus better, such as a petition with your specific request.

Now cast the five spell coins provided onto a white cloth or clean, white plate while speaking your desire out loud. This pattern is particularly helpful if what you desire is not a physical object such as a car or a watch. During the spell you can place your candle by the physical pattern, or if you desire, you can draw the pattern on your petition should you wish to use the coins in the meantime for a different spell. Place a small bowl of clear water by the pattern. Hold the bowl of water in both hands and “see” your desire manifesting in the manner in which you wish in the water.

When you are ready to perform the spell, hold a white candle in your hands at your heart chakra (right over your heart). As you breathe in and out slowly, visualize your desire. You can dress the candle with your favorite magickal oil or a bit of perfume. Light the candle. State your desire out loud. Hold the candle in both hands directly in front of you and speak the incantation aloud -- slowly, and with great feeling. Rushing through this procedure may hurt the outcome. Place the candle in a safe holder. You can add items around the candle, such as pictures, gems, offerings to Spirit or a specific deity. Leave all items untouched until the candle has finished burning. When you have received what you desire, remember to thank Spirit for your gifts. Should you have chosen a large candle and can’t stick around to monitor it – don’t fret. Turn the spell into a seven day affair, and light the candle each night after the initial working for a specific number of minutes – the same each evening (or day, should you work the night shift or perhaps during the day is the only time you have the peace and quiet to do a decent working). If you choose the seven day variety, then I would suggest holding the candle in your hands each time and repeat the given invocation the same way you uttered it the first time. You can even use a very large pillar candle and perform the working from now until Yule. Your choice. The power lies in you!

Universal Candle Spell Incantation by Silver RavenWolf

Spirit circle thrice around

Shift to stillpoint find.

Power up and power down

East to touch the mind.

Breathing in and breathing out

Balance of the rhyme

Light becomes and power flows

Southern fiery chime!

Sight and sound activate

the portal West of time

Loop and circle undulates

vibration of the sign.

Northern eyes create the thing

a portal key of kind.

Bring desire to gravity

the pattern I design.

As above and so below

this working now is sealed

O spell be secret, safe and sound

Fruition in its field!

I didn't try it this time, but am thinking about it for the New Year.
