Every day when I turn on the news, go online, read the newspaper, it's always:terrorism, wars, suicide bombers, tsunamis, hurricanes, fires, bird flu, murders, scandals, break-ups, divorces. I can barely stand it anymore. What the hell is going on???? I had a conversation with my mother this morning. I told her that I feel like everyone is going crazy and the world is going to sh!t. She said that it's always been this way, things have always been messed up, and it's just because I'm getting older/more aware that I'm finally realizing it. Maybe she's right, but it sure seems to me that in the last few years the intensity has been turned up several notches. Maybe it's because I'm young and spent my childhood in the (seemingly to me) more "carefree" nineties. I don't know. I'm not trying to be melodramatic. I'm just so bummed out and feel kind of hopeless about the future of this crazy planet. I feel like nothing is going right. Please tell me I'm wrong? There must be some progress I'm ignoring? Big Job! You know what, though, there are so many of US working in it already, can't you feel it? Love and Light to ALL IP: Logged |

Another cause for the news being more dramatic is that their time slots for stories are much shorter than they used to be and the competition of so many other stations to get the best ratings. Although horrible stories don't lift our spirits, they do get our attention and thats what they want..for us to stick around and keep watching. In the previews of news stories notice how they squeeze the most dramatic scenes into like a 1 minute clip. Thats all to sustain your attention. The news stations didn't used to have this degree of pressure (until last decade). But yea I think bad things have always happened, your just getting more exposure from the news and being older probably. I don't know about the divorce rate though. I wouldn't be surprised it that has actually risen because of how much emphasis is placed on sex now. I'm even rethinking ever getting married in an environment like this. Who knows? IP: Logged |

I'm with LeoSweetHeart - it's all sensationalism. The world is as it has ever been, but now we have TV! IP: Logged |

Yeah, I think it's a mixture. Sensationalism begets more sensationalism. It also creates scenarios where people become desensitized and think certain things are OK - like swearing for one. Becoming extremely popular and snuck in everywhere. New brand names feature these words and bumper stickers etc. Whose going to police the degeneration of our language? Granted it might not seem that big a deal compared to terrorism, but it's how we communicate. I just think the bottom line is that we are undergoing a massive transformation that could take a hundred of more years from the age of Pisces into Aquarian. Everyone's beliefs have turned upside down. Now it's more personal and divided where it used to be major religions competing. I wonder if terrorism is a way of rebelling against our tendency towards spirituality by invoking fear in our everyday world. This in turn makes people question God which might make them start going to a religion. I dunno, sounds a bit backwards. I think terrorism could be more about money. One problem is that it was always restrained to the Middle East, but in the last decade has spread to everywhere. I think things will settle sometime this century, but I have no idea how. I think awareness will increase which will force people to understand their actions and not the delusioned hipnotism they are being brainwashed. While there's life, there's hope.Dean. IP: Logged |

It's not clear whether you are anxious about the state of the world, or whether you, personally want to feel better. If you want to feel good, you can feel good no matter what state the world is in. Go for a run, drink a martini, whatever. Or maybe you are just enjoying being miserable. I've been there.------------------ And I will give thee the treasures of darkness Isiah 45:3 IP: Logged |
