Well, I am writing because I have had a few strange experiences with spiders in the last few years and I was wondering if anyone has any additional knowledge to share with me about them.
I used to get in my car and there would be a spider sitting on my dashboard. Or I would be out and notice spiders wherever I was.
Then three years ago, the first year I lived in my old house I woke up one day to see a gathering of spiders on my ceiling. There were maybe four of them. As the day progressed there were more and more. By evening there were about 15 of them on the ceiling in different rooms in the house. I went to sleep that night feeling a little uncomfortable but there weren't any in my bedroom so I fell asleep.
I actually like spiders, I should add here, but I guess I feel as though having them crawling everywhere was a little disconcerting.
The next day there were more. I decided to have a closer look at one so I got a stool and climbed up on it and looked at this one spider from about half a foot away and suddenly the spider jumped right at me! I sort of freaked out and after that I decided that the spiders were a little more than just disconcerting.
I usually just take spiders outside because I don't like to kill bugs of any kind. But that night I got freaked out and in a moment of paranoia I decided to vaccum up all the spiders because I felt like maybe I couldn't trust them. At this point there were well over two dozen spiders everywhere.
I felt so bad after I had done that. I almost cried b/c I'm not a bug killer, but I was really uncomfortable about them living over my head.

I woke up the next morning with a lump on my neck. In the night at some point a spider had bitten me! That bite got bigger and bigger and since the bite was right on a tendon in my neck, over the next few days it prevented me from moving my neck around. It lasted for about two weeks before it finally went away.

So then I felt even worse because I felt as though I had gotten my just desserts for killing the spiders and one of them had taken retribution.

I know this story sounds crazy. But to further explain: I moved away from that house last year and when I moved into my current place, over the course of the warmer seasons spiders began building webs around my front door. Not one other person on my street had any spiders around their house, but there was a world of spiders living all around the entrance to my house.

This time I decided (very wisely) to not touch one little leg. Plus I felt that there was some inherent message here that I was supposed to acknowledge. I learned that spiders are representative of creative energy so I am thinking that I vaccumed all that energy up before...kind of ironic for me, personally.

I still have spiders that come and sit next to me when I work at my computer at home. There is usually just one or two of them and they just hang with me.

Any comments? (except from those who are mad at me for vaccuming them up - I already feel bad about that )

Anyone know of any other spider theories that I might not be privy to?

Thanks,

Love

Love: I can't help you out too much on possible theories, but I do have my own story.

Up until a few years ago, I was having spider dreams solid for a year. I dreamt that a few "big" spiders (won't say how big.. don't want to give nightmares to knowflakes that have fears!) were spinning webs around my bed, attached to the wall above my headboard. When I mentioned this to a family friend who happens to be a seer, she told me that the spiders for me represent me protecting myself from some big fear. *shrug* Don't know what it was that I feared, but the dreams are gone...so I can't complain.

I love having spiders around the house! I think I've mentioned before on a thread here that my grandmother used to sprinkle water drops on her counter in front of her kitchen greenhouse window for the spiders in her plants everyday...and when she would be out of town, she would ask me to "water the spiders". Interesting that the spiders expected the water...and would come out and drink from the drops in front of me.

Love, vacuuming the spiders sounds like something I would do.

What do you think the message is for you?

Blue Topaz ~

I think it has to do with creativity for me...my Saturn is in Leo and I am in the middle of my Saturn Return (and boy does it blow) and from what I have read about Leo in Saturn during a Return is that alot of it has to do with creativity. I guess I am still figuring out what that means for me.

Hi Love

I was just posting about how Saturn is returning to me on the Numerology thread.

It's a time for new beginnings! I that.

Saturn doesn't seem to be kicking my @ss the way it seems to get after others.

Perhaps I've been in need of Saturn's little nudge in the right direction?

I don't know what to say about your spider situation... I would wig out, making my husband catch them and put them out of the house! EEK! I'm creeped out by spiders... anything with more arms and legs than I have MAY NOT live under the same roof as me! I don't kill 'em though... just make 'em relocate.

I've actually completely avoided my bedroom before because there was a big ol' spider on the ceiling in there. My husband works grave-yard, so I slept on the couch! Of course, by the time he came home there was no spider to be found.

I too, have had weird synchronicities with spiders, though honestly I am soooooo arachnophobic. If the forces of evil have an incarnation I would not be shocked at all if it were the spider. I don't like to kill anything though, so whenever one was in my room I would try to let it walk onto a piece of paper so I could let it outside, and tell it to inform its brethren not to invade my space, no matter how fast my heart was beating and how unbelievably CREEPED out they make me.

When I see one walk, I scream with a horror nothing else could give me. Truly they give me so much psychological damage, I do not know why. Part of it is because I have now allowed my self to become a murderer when it comes to them, since one jumped onto me while I tried to take it outside.

I try to make excuses as to why I am right to kill them, like

1. They're invading MY territory (but they don't know it's mine!)

2. Something that hideous can't possibly have feelings (but how to be sure)

3. They are the making of the devil (?)

4. Who would want to be a spider anyway...

5. Would the world really miss their kind?

But the truth of the matter is, I am paranoid of them getting anywhere on me, and I live between this dilemna of the pain I may be giving them as I cry and scream and shake and finally smack them down with my shoe and the intense psychotic state I go into knowing one is near me. Do you think I'm a murderer?

I believe spiders to be spirit helpers. Most of the time I see a spider when I am very down, and then I see the spider dancin around and making a web,and I suddenly dont feel so bad.I do not think them to be cursed, they are blessed,to be able to make such awesome webs and they eat other bad bugs.Once I held a tarantula,at first I was scared, but then it was just sittin and he let me pet him,oh so fuzzy! I like spiders.
Here is one site about how spiders are lucky, and if they are in the house, put them outside rather than kill them, for you could inherit bad luck: http://www.luckymojo.com/spider.html
and this is a look at how Shaman view spiders: http://www.earth-dancing.com/morespiders.htm

Hey!

Well thank you Eliza for that website.

"When a spider comes into your life, it is time to pay attention. Spider teaches you that what you weave now is what you will encounter in the future."

That quote from the website was a good reminder for me. I do believe that the spiders are a message but I have been struggling to make sense of what they represent specifically.

Obe, I don't know if you're any more of a murderer than anyone else who eats meat, or kills flies, or whatever. I guess it's all relative. I personally like spiders, even though I have had numerous spider bites over the years (the worst being the one in the above story - lol).

I have learned to like them more and not be as intimidated by them. I guess they are like anything else we do not understand...a lack of understanding creates fear and spiders are not exactly the cutest of cuddly creatures!

Anyhow, I like the whole weaving/future idea since I am in the middle of my Strun Return and anything that can make better sense of that is certainly good in my books!
(Gee willikers, I cannot wait for it to be over!)

Peace!

Love

Wow, I don't have anything meaningful to add - but that sure was interesting

(I'm a sometimes spider killer as well, but mostly black widows. We have many, many of those here. Spiders in general I can deal with. Spiders that can kill my child...not so much.)

Thanks for those tidbits. I will start trying to like spiders, for my good and theirs. Though I don't know about those poisonous ones

ScotScorp, that's amazing about feeding the spiders,

Love, I swear that they probably are higher {or lower} beings with messages, but far out they're creepy. I don't blame you. Since I was about 15 I had a system of catching spiders. Usually I'd place a container over them (try to watch the legs though} then slide some cardboard under and throw everything out a window. I'd retrieve them the next day.

Far out they're creepy. What I LOVE are green tree frogs. I swear, something very high powered about them!

I had to throw 3 out during the course of last week, all different kinds, and then I got 3 or 4 spider bites the night after I released the last one outside. I was extremely angry and decided that from now on if they are in the house they are squished. I also feel only the tiniest guilt about poisoning the ants that come inside and have recently begun to ponder the bb-gun method when it comes to the racoons. Don't worry, it's only in passing. I tried to reason with them but they are a little like the mafia.
The ants are just plain an army of invaders, and I'm not sure what to think of the spiders but I'll check out that link...

My stupid soft heart also fed a couple stray cats with my daughter on the porch this winter and now they are peeing all around on my porches and fighting with each other and knocking things down. Never again... they also make me ponder the beauty of the bb gun.
My neighbor kid just ran off and joined the army and he used to patrol the neighborhood with his bb gun. I used to think unkindly of his practices but now I see the aftermath of the inbalance in nature now that the "natural predator" has left. hehehe

Spiders freak me out... just the big brown ones that chase ya, jump around... stalk me. I know how crazy it sounds, I'll see one spider in one room... leave and come back and SURE ENOUGH there the little bugger is: in my room. I have done SO much to deter them from coming around me... I sleep with a fan, keep my door closed, and as of 4 nights ago, keep a vacuum close by. For a while, EVERYtime I would do a reading or a spell a spider would CHARGE at me. Just run right towards me, out of nowhere. And I hate killing them, but in the past year or so, I ask my dad to "take care" of them while I'm out of the room. It is one thing for spiders to be "changing woman" or another messenger, however when they seem to stalk and attack me... then I might have a problem. BTW... other people have seen this behavior toward me too, i'm not crazy lol. They run from my dad, but come running FOR me... I'm way too big to be eaten, but they don't seem to know that.
So... yeah... the message about creativity??? Maybe... Start honoring your creativity or we'll kill you??? hmmm...

Here's what the Medicine Cards say about Spider:

Spider #43 - Weaving

Spider wove the web that brought humans the first picture of the alphabet. The letters were part of the angles of her web.
Deer asked Spider what she was weaving and why all the lines looked like symbols. Spider replied, "Why Deer, it is time for Earth's children to learn to make records of their progress in their Earth Walk." Deer answered Spider, "But they already have pictures that show through symbols the stories of their experiences." "Yes," Spider said, "But Earth's children are growing more complex, and their future generations will need to know more. The ones to come won't remember how to read the petroglyphs."
So it was that Spider wove the first primordial alphabet, as she had woven the dream of the world that had become manifest. Spider's dream of the physical world had come to fruition millions of years before.
Spider's body is made like the number eight, consisting of two lobe-like parts connected at the waist, and eight legs. Spider is the symbol for the infinite possibilities of creation. Her eight legs represent the four winds of change and the four directions of the medicine wheel.
Spider weaves the webs of fate for those who get caught in her web and become her dinner. This is similar to humans who get caught in the web of illusion in the physical world, and never see beyond the horizon into the other dimensions.
The web of fate also represents a wheel of life, which does not include any alternatives or solutions. It is typically human to get caught in the polarity of good or bad fortune without realizing that we can change it at any time. If we are not decisive enough about changing our lots in life, we may end up being consumed by our fears and limitations.
Spider is the female energy of the creative force that weaves the beautiful deigns of life. Her web has hundreds of intricate patterns which catch the morning dew.
If Spider has dropped from her web into your cards today, she may be telling you to create, create, create! Look for new alternatives to your present impasse. She can also be warning you that you are coming too close to an entangling situation. Spider could be asking you to use a journal to write out and review your progress. If you do this, you will not forget how you are creating a new of different phase in your life.
Spider brings a message of a different kind when she sees you becoming a bit too involved in the weaving of your life plans to notice opportunity at the outskirts of your web. If this is the case, Spider gets your attention so that you notice that something you have woven has borne fruit. Congratulations! Spider caught you just in time, before you missed the opportunity on the edge of your web of reality.
The most important message from Spider is that you are an infinite being who will continue to weave the patterns of life and living throughout time. Do not fail to see the expansiveness of the eternal plan.

Contrary
The contrary aspect of Spider is akin to the negative side of woman. Spider will eat her mate if she gets too caught up in herself to see the validity of honoring male energy. The warrior at her side is a strong balancing force. If you have become disdainful of your mate (male or female) and have felt very superior recently, you are not honoring either your male or female side.
If you are not presently in a relationship, you may have chosen a member of your family or a workmate to harass. This type of negative criticism only breaks down relations, and is a reflection of something you hate about yourself. If you are trying to feed your ego in this manner, you have lost the game. You are entangled in the web of your own illusion about who you really are. It may be time to look at why you are being critical and why you are feeling so weak that you must attack others.
If this does not apply to your situation, take a look at another message that contrary Spider medicine brings: lack of creativity. If you fail to use your talents to get the web spinning, your lack of creativity can change into destructiveness. If you are feeling stagnant and unable to move in a positive direction, you may come to resent others who are doing well. This resentment will become a Black Widow Spider and eat you up, and the only one to mourn your demise will be you. Get moving, find joy and new ideas in the accomplishments of others, and use them to propel you into a new phase of creative spinning on your own web of delight. Observe Spider's web and find pleasure in the ideas you receive from her universal language.

Overview
Dance your dreams alive. Create from your heart’s bliss. Weave the web you want to live.

`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'

Very interesting stuff Hexxie. I love to read new interpreations about spiders.

It's funny because all the spiders who were hanging out with me in my room for months have migrated downstairs and now they all live in my kitchen. I guess I need to figure out what that might symbolize now...maybe nurturing/feeding/nourishment..?

Or maybe they just like the pretty yellow walls and pile of dirty dishes?
