Isn't it wonderful that we live in nice houses, with nice furniture, clear drinking water, comfortable beds, in organized communities where we can call emergency services with a quick 3-digit dial of the phone when/if needed? We have a buffet of diverse food to gorge ourselves with, and there is no end to it.

*HOWEVER* across the world, families are being ripped apart, driven from their homes, people are being murdered, women are being raped with no law enforcement to call for help. People are starving to death and dying of thirst. Here's some figures to make this more evident;
3.5 million people are starving
2.5 million people have been displaced from their homes
400,000 have been murdered

Imagine if this was your community?

Please click here Save Darfur to learn more about the terrible situation and to see how you can help. Please spread the word to your friends and families so they can be aware too! We can't rely on the media to cover this important issue enough!

Please also rent the movie, Hotel Rwanda which gives an excellent similar example of the genocide which is occurring.

THANK YOU

Thank you for posting the info, Nephthys. I sent a letter to Pres. Bush twice regarding what it is happening in Darfur.

It's just horrible. One of the worst atrocites in history. Our government and governments and peoples all over the world have a moral obligation to put pressure on those committing this atrocity and bring a stop to it now. Those in the government responsible should be tried for their crimes against humanity.

The following information comes from Mercy Corps.

Darfur's Crisis Continues

Gandhi reminds us to be the change we wish to see in the world. Visit our advocacy page to learn how to join with others demanding their governments help forge a lasting peace in Darfur. You can make a difference.

Violence. Displacement. Desperation. These words describe what I saw on my recent visit to Darfur, where a large-scale humanitarian crisis is on the verge of getting even worse.

Those responsible for the worst violence are moving into neighboring Chad, straining already-bad relations between the two countries. The instability is uprooting, once again, Darfurians who had been displaced into Chad. Meanwhile, deteriorating security in Darfur is forcing even more people from their homes into primitive camps.

People living in these camps want to go home - get back to farming or other livelihoods - but it's simply too dangerous. I urge you to get involved (see below) or donate now to help us continue our efforts for peace and security in Darfur.

Q: I've heard there's a way to help donate to charity by just clicking on a Web site. Is that true? Could it help Mercy Corps?

A: Sure. Our long-term partner The Hunger Site does just that. Thousands of visitors visit each day to help support programs that fight hunger. Visit now at www.thehungersite.com
