http://www.rawfood.com/jasmuheen.html This woman claims to be able to sustain herself physically on "prana" WITHOUT eating...needless to say the scientist in me is highly skeptical. It is obvious that most of us eat far more than we could ever need....but in her book she suggests not eating for 21 days!!!! That could kill certian people, seems kind of dangerous. Anyone heard of this lady?

That is crazy! I cannot picture myself not eating for 21 days. I certaily do not think it is healthy, however, I am not informed on this topic; I am open to discussion on information...------------------ ~*Silverstone~* IP: Logged |

Yes, also do a search on HRM, (Hira Ratan Manek). This guy is truly amazing! quote:
"He's been examined by an International team of 21 medical doctors and scientists during his now-famous 411-day water-sunlight fast...""He underwent intense studies at the Thomas Jefferson University and University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where he underwent a 130-day observation period... " Hira Ratan Manek (HRM) has proven that a person can live just on solar energy for very long periods without eating any food. This has come to be known as the HRM phenomenon. One can get rid of any kind of psychological problems, and develop confidence to face any problem in life and can overcome any kind of fear including that of death within 3-months after starting to practice this method. As a result, one will be free from mental disturbances and fear, which will result in a perfect balance of mind. If one continues to apply the proper sungazing practice for 6 months, they will be free from physical illnesses. Furthermore, after 9-months, one can eventually win a victory over hunger, which disappears by itself thereafter. HRM QUOTE: "We have a super computer in our bodies given to us by the nature, which is our brain. HRM (Hira Ratan Manek) calls it the "brainutor". The brain is more powerful than the most advanced super computer. Each and every human being is gifted with innumerable talents, and infinite inherent powers by nature. Individuals should never underestimate themselves. Everyone is gifted. If we make use of these powers we can take ourselves to great levels. Unfortunately, these infinite inherent powers are programmed in that part of the brain that is largely dormant and goes unused. Even medical science agrees we hardly make use of the brain but about 5-7% - the most brilliant of humans like Albert Einstein is reported to have used only about 32% of their brains."
www.thebestdayever.com IMO, fasting can be dangerous but it also can be very healing if done correctly. I think a long-term fast could be carried out if the body is pure and the mind is ready. I don't know if we could live without food indefinately, but I still have an open mind in that regard. I know of people, especially one guy known as the 'Master Faster', he goes 40+ days at a time. He healed himself of a knee injury and other serious health problems. But he had been on raw foods for years, and had already done a massive amount of internal cleansing.
I also believe in sungazing. I think it's possible to get the nutrients we need from the sun, it's an alchemical process but it's something we don't really understand yet, but it will be understood by more people one day. IP: Logged |

Very interesting info! I recently read something about the benefits of staring at the center of the sun while it's touching the horizon. Supposed to help with absorption of minerals along with energetic/spiritual benefits. Had never heard about that before, but I believed it!.....I'll have to look for that and post it..... I agree with SunChild. Fasting has many benefits but longer fasts can be dangerous unsupervised. I know someone who recently went to Costa Rica and did a supervised 20 day fast. Felt terrible during it. She went through lots of detoxing. Personally, I think that's a little extreme, but fast for a day or two occasionally. Our bodies need the break once in awhile. IP: Logged |

The longest fast I was ever on was 62 days. Followed by juice and fruit and rice for another 30 days. Water everyday and a vitamin/mineral every 3. 3 to 10 day fasts are not too hard but still one must be careful of euphoria. Dangerous to drive then. But I always precede them with a check up and get a chem24 done to make sure all blood counts are fine. It is also wise to go into a fast fully hydrated. Do not overexert or get over heated. But excercise is needed or your body will try to consume muscle, mistaking it for imobile fat if you just lay around. Also be careful if you have gallbladder troubles because the consumption of your own body fat can cause it to act up or worse. Even non diabetics might want to watch and check blood sugar levels a few times a week. Often your breath can get funky and your body after the first 3 days. The internal cleansing is going on. Bathe. Keep your teeth clean. If you have never used a neti pot this might be a nice time to try it. Just do not swallow the salty water. Carefully coming out of a fast is also important. Take at least 1/2 the time you fasted for the coming out process. ------------------ ~I intend to continue learning forever~"Fayte" ~I am still learning~ Michangelo The Door to Gnosis is never permanently locked...one only needs the correct keys and passwords. My best friend who is a Muslim would fast. But I don't think her Taurean Sun could really help it. She one day said screw that crap (Actually she said a curse way nastier then that)
then she grabbed a big burger and started chomping down.
She also ate pork chops once at my house when my sister cooked.
(I'm a Vegan by the way and just the word pork makes me wanna barf. I picture the poor pig with its throat slit). So anyways, she doesn't fast anymore.

The books emphasize that the process is first going vegetarian, then vegan, fruitarian and whatever, plus combining that with learning command of the body over the five whatever years that the lightening of the diet might take. Once you know such things first, then try what she writes about in the books. Even then, it's a process of not doing anything much physically and having someone near in case something seems to go wrong when you first go for the 21 day thing. IP: Logged |

I was NOT endorsing this when I bumped this thread up. Seems no one here actually did research to look into what actually was real or not about these so called light eaters. Amazing how gullible folks can be when it sounds too good to be true. As to staring at the sun; that is not safe for any eyes. That is as ridiculous as saying a human can spin their heads completely around. Please read this page before accepting the dangerous and unsound advice these people have written about and rooked folks out of $$$$$$ and even caused their deaths. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inedia IP: Logged |

Wow, this is one of the pseudoscience things that are actually too dangerous. :/ This is one of the things that I have to side with the skeptics - they should be regulated and even controlled and challenged, if they don't provide any scientific proofs.IP: Logged |
