Greetings...Well Alchemy is not chemistry, nor is it the mere turning of "rock into gold". That is simply a metaphor for the spiritual evolution and growth of the Alchemist himself. However, if the student gains the appropriate understanding of the studies in Alchemy, he could, as easilty transform lead into gold, as calm the storm or walk upon water. Of course, Criss Angel has recently shown that he can also perform that little bit of magic. As a Scorpio Rising individual, you will find many transforming events in your life. Perhaps you have some issues that need to be dealt with or changes that you desire to make, and perhaps that is why you are seeing the word everywhere? Usually, when we are surrounded by a particular type of person, or books fall into our laps, or we overhear snatches of conversation, or in your case, the confrontation by a particular word; may be a message from the Angel of your Higher Self, providing a clue that you should look into. Hope that helps... Alchemically yours... A ------------------ "The ALL is MIND; the Universe is Mental." *** The Kybalion IP: Logged |

Astrology is alchemical.Astrology is closer to alchemy than it is to astronomy, and alchemy is closer to psychology than it is to chemistry. I would recommend C.G. Jung's writings on Alchemy, and Thomas Moore's "Care of the Soul". Also, the study of psychological astrology might interest you. happy hunting! ------------------ 'Would you know your Lord's meaning in this thing? Know it well, love was his meaning. Well I just recently bought myself a gift of 'Magical Signs and Symbols' rubber stmps (I do a lot of hand-written letters, yes, random I know). The booklet inside it has little summaries in reagard to each stamp and there just so happens to be an 'Alchemical Symbols' summary: quote: The great and mysterious science of alchemy reaches far back into the caverns of time; some scholars believe that its foundations rest in ancient Egypt, in the courts of the pharaohs. One thing is certain: nearly every western civilization of the past three thousand years has devoted some portion of its energies to the pursuit of alchemy, the strange science of transforming base metals - such as lead - into gold. Human rapaciousness being what it is, the enthusiasm for alchemy is not surprising; what is surprising is the number of people who, in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, claimed to have achieved the golden goal, which the called 'The Great Work.' The recipie for success was a secret jealously guarded, and the annals of alchemy are filled with tales of alchemists abducted by impovrished noblemen and tortured to reveal their gold-manufacturing technique. As a result, wise alchemists rarely bragged about their success, and furthermore recorded their procedures in nearly impenetrable code. Not only were obsucre symbols used in place of words, but there was not one recognized set of symbols within the discipline, with the result that there are over a dozen signs for gold alone (completion of the Work seems to require about 50 elements). Alchemists also covered their tracks by writing the steps of their processes out of order, so that even if later readers managed to break the code of symbols, they would still be confounded by the impossibility of following the instructions. Alchemy would b of very littel interest today if it were simply a mechanical means of getting some gold. It is - and always was - much more than that. Alchemy is a spiritual as well as a physical science, with the object being the transformation of the soul from the crassly material stuff of animal nature to the purified and receptive essence that partakes of the divine spirit. The circumstances under which this transformation takes place are prefigured by the mysterious order of the transformation of lead to gold, and the means are symbolized by the Red STone, aka the Philosopher's Stone, the Elixir, and the Tincture. Indeed, the very symbols of alchemy are a lesson in accepting the limitations of human knowledge and humbling the self before the divine, and in these mysteries we find the enduring lesson of alchemy.
