I wish to change my surname, and also have a "stage" or "pen" name, which is just a shortened version of the name I wish to change to. I wish to continue on my path of work in the written and performing arts. Social issues and reform are also important to me, and much of my work deals with those issues.
I am so new to numerology, I may not understand. If anyone could shed light onto this, I'd be so grateful.
I do not yet understand how my month + birth day, which comes to 9, can mix harmoniously with the numbers I have come upon for the names I feel are my options for what I must use now and in my future. Also, should I compare the 9 with my year+month+ day birth number, which is 5?

I'm a Sun Pisces with Leo Rising, Taurus Moon, with a lot of Gemini in my chart. (if you would like more astro info, I'd gladly provide it; plus I'm often on LL's astro area of this site)

I would just like to have some feedback before I change it. I know I will make some change, however, I'm new to numerology and would appreciate any info anybody would care to offer.
