okay this is kinda weird---
I have experienced this before smelling someones cologne who isn't there in the room. Meaning someone who has passed away. My grandfather wore English Leather cologne it;s the only thing he ever wore..in fact to me no one else is "allowed" to wear it because to me it is my GrandPap's.
okay here's the weird thing. Today I have smelled my Crab's cologne several times.. he wears New Musk. I am not near any clothing that I may have worn around him so that is not the explaination I have no perfume of my own that smells like it so that is not it,either. Those that don't know the latest between me and my crab can reference the thread in Soul Unions if they need to to maybe explain this unusual phenomenon.
Any thoughts???

Nowhere near physical proximity, no one else around and I smell "him........"

hippichick...I know it is weird! I know wishful thinking perhaps or an olfactory memory cuz he is on my mind..but it is MORE than that it is the actual smell as if he was standing next to me. am glad I am not the only one

That happens to me with my boyfriend but only because the smell sticks to me since we cuddle a lot.

yes, I would have thought those things too except it was New's years since we cuddled and I saw him the night before at our company meeting and we didn't even to much as touch and its not like I have any of his clothes hanging around....so I am at a loss as to wher it comes from.

when my love and I first started dating I would suddenly smell his cologne out of the blue, like when when I was at work and there was no possible way his scent could be around. Maybe it is a female pyschic alert system, like our significant other is thinking of us...something like that.

not sure, interesing though!

I think mystery got as close as anyone will....

Female intuition works in strange ways...

Since intuition is part of the physical brain why would it not be able to activate the olfactory senses when someone near and dear is thinking of us???

Celtic, if I remember correctly, you are a RN?? Like myself??

This makes sense to me, both physically and metaphysically.

I can often remember a scent, not necessiarially smell it, but re-member...from my childhood, the smell of hay, horses, hogs, freshly drawn milk from cows.......

Seems to me that intuitively, if we are connecting with a soul mate, then all previously exposed senses are open for re-activation......

Have you ever heard your love calling you? Have you ever felt the feather whisper upon your cheek that made you think of his kiss? Have you ever tasted something that re-minded you of his sweat? You HAVE smelled his scent~~~~~~

My ramblings.........

Smells are very evocative arent they?

When I trained to become an aromatherapist and I got into tuning into fragrances, it stirred up a lot of emotion for me.

Lavender....aaahh that old furniture polish, my mother used to use. Patchouli....being in the middle of a smoke filled room with free and happy people.

My husband had a whiff of cigarette smoke in our house a few months ago. We dont smoke...

It was an old spirit man who came to visit.....he was on his way home and wanted to say hello.

I often smell my husband when he isnt here and often get a whiff of something like roses....it feels like a message of love...

We are never alone...the "old ones" come back now and then to say hello...

And leave their scent....

Lovely gentle thread......thanks!

Hi Sue!

Yes. I had figured about the ones who had gone before mae sense, but I was a bit un-nerved about someone who was still alive and no rational explanation for me to smell him as I had never had the experience with one who was alive. I had gone to take my dog to a Civil war battle site (Manassas or Bull Run for those who what to do a search) two very large important battles of the civil war fought there and pretty bloody. It was during the day with NO ONE around not even any cars (highly unusual for this area) and I smelled pipe tobacco for a good while and I looked for a source and found none!! I figured it was some handsome Civil war soldier come out to say hello. That was intense! I have smelled by granfather on occasion too. But having soemone who wsa still alive was way different---made me want to call him to make sure he was still with us so to speak.
