The light in the room should be dim when you try to read Auras for the first time. Very dim, try at night when you are winding down for bed. I also find being in conversation with someone helps, takes the focus off "am I seeing it? am I seeing it?". When you are conversing with that person you are activating them on specific levels and connecting with them energetically, so I think it helps the process. I always see them when I am not trying to see them. Focus on the person's head, and just notice the energy that outlines the individual as they move their head slightly. It's going to look just like an after image. They don't always look like this big "thing" around someone. I see my husband's and sons often. When my husband and I are fighting, he's always yellow When my son and I are doing the time-out dance, he is lime green. When emotions are high, they are stronger. I've even seen them under florescent lighting at my old job though, so it honestly just depends. I see them constantly.

If you have ever looked at a light for too long, or the tv, or something like this, it creates an "after image". Auras look very much like this, but when intense they are vibrant. However when my husband is emitting "lavender" it's not as easy to see. One of my old yoga teachers used to emit BRIGHT lavender when he taught, and the light in the studio was always dim so I could see it more easily.

I have even seen an energy sphere around a shaman man who used to practice yoga at my old studio. Now HE had a cool energy field.

I will never forget the first time I saw one, I was listening to a yoga teacher give a workshop and the most intense vibrant blue came off of her. I was really angry when, after class, I approached her and asked "uh what was that I just saw?!". It took me a hell of a lot of courage to even ask that question and she was kind of a major B about it. She said "ignore it, this is nothing, this is not the point of the practice". Man did that make me angry!!!

I rarely tell people this, because it always results in "read my aura" immediately and it doesn't work like that at all. So then I get this "ha yeah right everyone new age-y says they can do that!" - I also get put in a position where I am having to either "prove" myself or explain myself and I hate that. It's just something I just naturally do, but it's not all the time. I have had my aura interpretations compared to others and I have always been dead on.

For example, one of my old yoga instructors had an aura of amniotic fluid pink (weird but true) that glittered. It was like the energy around her just sparkled.

Another yoga instructor friend was light blue.

I stayed after class one day chatting with them, we got onto the topic of Auras, and I mustered the courage to tell them I saw them. Both immediately (like most people) said "what's mine what's mine!". Well in reality it changes, but because I constantly met them in a specific state (pre-yoga or post-yoga) I often saw their Aura reflecting that state.

I told friend 1 about pink/gold flakes, and friend 2 about light blue. They both flipped out.

Friend 1 received an aura reading several years ago, and the reader drew her aura on paper. I was flabbergasted when, the next yoga class, she brought this drawing. It was pink with gold "sparks", I was seeing exactly what the other woman was seeing. Friend 2 has a sister who is a mineral worker and psychic. Her sister has always told her, "you have a light blue aura", and she just laughed it off. Now she took it seriously!

Either way, I would say if you are trying to see them don't "try" so hard, because that can sometimes create a process of frustration (although I think these practices can totally help!). Just set an intention every day to try and see them, and don't beat yourself up if you can't. My ability to see this comes with really weird quirks, because my vision is always muddled with seeing all kinds of things. A wall does not just look like a wall to me. It looks like millions of moving energy bits. Looking at anything for that matter never looks like that one thing.
