Do you have any tips? What should we bring? What type of camera/film do you recommend? Any advice is much appreciated!!! Thanks all! IP: Logged |

Awwww...thanks for your concern ILWL! No doubt we will be scared!! Haha!!! But I'm sooooo excited! It's the thrill that I'm after. I grew up watching horror flicks. I love getting chills and having the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. My friend and I are both 8th house moons, so this should be a TRIP! Strangely enough, the night we decided to go turns out to be the full moon in Capricorn. 100% full...but it's in detriment...so it will be interesting. We're bringing our digital cameras, flashlights, compasses, thermometers, and I'm bringing a tape recorder. We'll look like total dorks, but I'm sooooo excited!!!IP: Logged |

Let us know how it went. I would just take a regular camera or digital. There is special equipment to record voices/sounds, but if this is just a hobby or one-time thing, I doubt you would want to invest that heavily into it. I was on a few sites in the last year, sorry can't think of the exact titles, one had the most haunted places by state, another was a ghost hunter who had his "EVP" recordings and tales of his outings. There is another that is a message board. Try doing a search and see what you come up with if noone else replies with better suggestions. Have fun MelanieIP: Logged |

Those are really good... EVP's, they are easier to get than photos for some people...------------------ Sun in Libra Moon in Cancer Jupiter in Cancer Venus in Virgo Mars in Cancer Ascendant in Cancer I "FEEL" therefor I am IP: Logged |

LC & Melanie, thanks for the tips. Me and my friend were surfing the net today trying to get info on what we'll need. Yeah, since I'm no paranormal expert, I think I'll just be sticking to the digital, compass, and thermometer. The other equipment is too expensive! Here's a picture of the place: Brief History: The Ohio State Reformatory (OSR), (also known as the Mansfield Reformatory), is a historic prison located in Mansfield, Ohio, USA. The facility was built between 1886 and 1910. The original architect for the design was Levi T Scofield from Cleveland, although much of the work was entrusted to the supervising architect, F F Schnitzer, whose name appears on the cornerstone as Architect. F.F. Schnitzer was presented with a silver double inkwell by the governor of the state in a lavish ceremony to thank him for his services.[citation needed] Although the architecture is often described as Germanic castle architecture, it is actually mostly Romanesque Revival. The Reformatory and remained in full operation until 1972 once the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility was opened. The facility was completely closed down in 1990. Part of the grounds and support buildings however, including the outer wall have been demolished since the closing. In 1995, the "Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society" was formed. They have turned the prison into a museum and conduct tours to help fund grounds rehabilitation projects and currently work to stabilize the buildings against further deterioration. The facility still holds the largest free standing cell block in the world at six tiers high. From 1935 until 1959 Arthur Lewis Glattke was the Superintendent. Initially a political appointment following Glattke's work on the Martin Davey campaign, by all accounts Glattke was respected by professionals and inmates alike. He implemented many reforms such as piped in radio music in the cell blocks. Glattke's wife, Helen Bauer Glattke, died of pneumonia three days following an accident in November 1950 where a handgun discharged when she was reaching into a jewelry box in the family's quarters. Glattke died following a heart attack suffered in his office on February 10, 1959. OSR is supposedly haunted with several paranormal "hotspots" such as the two chapels, the area around the warden's office, the infirmary and solitary confinement. Over 200 people died at the OSR, including a few guards who were killed during escape attempts. Fun Fact:
The facility gained fame when it served as Shawshank State Prison in the 1994 movie The Shawshank Redemption starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. Can't WAIT!!! IP: Logged |

It is cleared. Been cleared a long time. All checked out, bye bye, left the premises. But have a good time with your imaginations anyhow. If you are "lucky" you might re-activate any left resonances. Those can be fun. Unless you bring any back home.------------------ ~Judgement Must Be Balanced With Compassion~ ~Do Not Seek Wealth From The Suffering, Or The Dire Needs Of Others~ ~Assumption Is The Bane Of Understanding~ }><}}}(*> <*){{{><{ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~ ~~~ ~~ ~~~~~ ~~~ ~~~~ ~~~ IP: Logged |
