In Ayn Rand's book The Fountainhead in one chapter there is a speech by Ellsworth Monkton Toohey wherein he said something to this effect-- "A great philosopher sometime back said that in every civilization there is a style--and the philosopher used the word 'style' for the lack of a better word... now... That civilization.. Whatever it does... It is always true to that one style, that one central idea, that one principle, just like that I think... Every soul has it's own style... Its own central idea... And everything that a person does... All his actions... Bear the stamp of that one central idea... Now... Years of studying a particular person might not reveal to you what your one glance at his face will reveal... The face is the style of the soul... That central idea, that central principle of the soul -- just like it is reflected in every act that the person performs -- is also reflected in his face."
Well I find that profound. Anything you would wanna add to that? IP: Logged |

everything a person thinks or does, has been through, every smile and frown and tear and sound and movement and word and vision, everything that has gone through them is all there like a book whose cover if we chose to lift would be there for us to read, an infinite story. The eternal ancestry and the eternal future of those everchanging memories and intentions becoming or become part of the DNA book...IP: Logged |
