-U.G. Krishnamurti.......He said that he didn't care if anyone took his words and claimed them as his own....whatever they wanted to do.....he didn't care

because, to use 26T's quote on another thread, I guess he realized that

quote:
The True Love is allied to awareness and not to the passing objects pleasing or displeasing of Awareness

When/ if we become popular or famous there is always a risk of falling into the vanity trap, of ego...even if we weren't trapped into it before.

Because

POWER is the most seductive thing in the world. Meanwhile....

quote:
the ageless melody, unheard, heals......the healing vision, unseen leads......the true leaders, unknown rescue....the rescuers, immortal, know....

I'm not sure exactly, SattvicMoon brought it up

I have also been thinking, that to abandon the ego (if that is the right way of putting it).....I'll re-phrase it.....To keep the ego balanced we need to keep a balanced view of things. If someOne pays a compliment to another, I feel it is important for the person who receives the compliment not to let it feather the deceptive nest of vanity (lol, right now I couldn't think of another way to put it!)

The important thing to remember is that we all have our strengths and weaknesses, our positive and negative.
We all have it in us to be selfish as we do self-less; if one was completely selfless, however, they would get burnt out and this would be self-defeating.

I am well aware of my own faults and I am TRYING to find a balance. For example, vanity is one extreme end of the spectrum of the ego. Self hatred is the other extreme.

THE QUESTION IS- HOW do we find a BALANCE?

It is important to remember each of us has within us. This is seeing the bigger picture.

And THIS I feel, folks, is the basis that forms all the drama we see here in LL. We are not seeing the bigger picture. It is an endless battle of the fight for energy....someone gives a compliment....someone takes a compliment...they feel energized by this....later on, someone gives criticism, someone reacts to it.....as a result people start to feel DRAINED of energy.....

It is like what The Celestine Prophecy is going on about...The struggle for energy....We all need to stop struggling and get back to the SOURCE....(It does take time to meditate on what that really means, however)

Well said.

I would only suggest that you are already in balance.

With the act of trying to balance
arises the feeling of imbalance.

It is an error to desire balance.
Already, it creates Duality, -
a pushing and pulling between balance and imbalance.
And this struggle for balance is not balancing.

There is no "stopping".
Only the mind stops and starts.
Stopping the mind has its place,
but, beyond the mind,
there is something that is steady, always.
This is Awareness.
You are Always Aware.
Identify with Awareness,
and you do not stop and start with the mind.

Oooooo, Fall in light, fall in light. Fall in light, fall in light
Feel no shame for what you are (x5)
As you now are in your blood
Fall in light

Feel no shame for what you are
Feel no shame for what you are
Feel it as a water fall
Fall in light, ooh
Fall in light, fall in light, Fall in light, ooh
Fall in light, fall in light, fall in light
Grow in light

Stand absolved behind your electric chair, dancing
Stand absolved behind your electric chair, dancing
Past the sound within the sound
Past the voice within the voice

Leave your office
Run past your funeral
Leave your home, car
Leave your pulpit
Join us in the streets where we
Join us in the streets where we
Don’t belong, don’t belong
You and the stars
Throwing light

Ooooooh
Fall, fall
Ooooooh
Fall in light, fall in light. fall in light
Oooooh
Fall in light, fall in light fall in light
Grow in light

For those of you who don't know what we, Gangaji, and others are talking about, the way I feel is that....

....we are talking about something, another realm, dimension, consciousness....

...which can be tuned into, tapped into.....in many ways, for example:

"To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And Heaven in a Wild Flower
Hold Eternity in the palm of your hand
And Infinity in an Hour"

Love and GRACE (as in U2)

WARTS & all!!!

Love, LTT

We must endure the illusion that we are separate until the end. Meanwhile, we slip in and out of love, of soul connections and disconnections, distortions, of fear.....and who, in LIFE, is truly invincible from these things? We all want to be loved. I try to see the beauty in everyOne, but it is difficult, when One tries not to take sides. Meanwhile, we're all 'Lost In Translation' and stuck in this labyrinth, this ego trap of who is right and who is wrong, of the need for love and concern over what everyone thinks and how we are seen, needing to be understood.

I had a horrible experience on this other website once, when people would strike out if you didn't agree with them or if you questioned the teachings, even though I questioned them in a respectful way.....they tried to make out that their sarcasm, etc was a way to help people let go of the seductive 'ego', when in fact all they were doing was bullying people's self-esteem! (You have to be careful because it takes all sorts in this world and so many, especially in this sort of thing, have real issues of their own).

So, I think there is some confusion on what the ego really means. I watched a video interview of the lady 'Gangaji'.....and I really feel about what she says about DESIRE is true.

She said that because the Buddhist teachings say that all suffering stems from desire, she then got caught up in the desire to let go of desire!

She struggled with this whole thing for some Time. It was during a moment when she desperately longed for a teacher that one appeared. And he told her that desire itself was not the problem. But if she desired freedom above all other things, all the other problems surrounding desire would take care of themselves.

That quote you speak of, I believe comes from Musaios.
