I had my front door open, with the screen door shut. I heard someone at the door. I thought it was my sister, and went to unlock the door to let her in. WELL, it wasn't my sister. It was a groundhog. At my door. He was up on his hind legs, with his front paws up on my door - looking in! We looked at each other for a solid thirty seconds. Then I screamed and ran away. (I was really freaked out!) It was weird. Then, I laughed. This would happen to me (Aqua Sun). At first, I thought it was a rat, but then I realized it was a groundhog.

I always feel that things like this are a sign, which is a big part of the reason I screamed...

Now, he is barricading himself on my porch. I think he's a afraid. Or dying.

He's actually really cute.

If it is a sign, what do you think it could mean?

Here is a link to a description of a groundhog.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groundhog

Here's a pic of one.

Cute, isn't he?

Oh, this day is full of surprises...this morning when I woke-up, my sink was stopped-up, and my dishwasher leaked water onto my kitchen floor. The water in the sink is backing up, but it's clean water from the dishwaher. It's white and soapy, with bubbles...what the heck is going on?

I hope Fayte sees this
On the lighter side, I'd say the asteroid Plumbing is conjunct your Pluto..... j/k

I hate plumbing!!! Once when I lived in a basement apartment, the people upstairs opened the drain of their bathtub to let bathwater drain, and my toilet did a Mount Vesuvius number!!!

Do you have a special rapport with animals??
Perhaps the groundhog is one of your totem spirits and he sent you one of his own.....

I'm going to have to look and see if there's such an asteroid now!

Yeah, the plumbing is a pain in the ass. Luckily, the plumber can come tomorrow morning.

I don't know anything about totem animals. I'll have to check it out.

I do feel animals showing up in unexpected ways is indicative of something. That's why I freaked out. I wish you could've seen him looking in my door. He was like, "Hi, I'm home!" lol...

I should tell you about the possum incident I had in December. That was unnerving.

I feel bad for him, because I know he's afraid. He's barricaded himself on my porch and won't leave. I wish I could do something to help him get free. He's right by the air conditioning unit, and it turned on, I felt so bad, because it's loud. I turned it off, so he wouldn't be scared. I think he's waiting for nighttime to leave.

Who's Fayte? Is she really knowledgeable about this stuff?

Oh, another person with plumbing problems. I swear it's all the planets in cancer right now.

I've actually had water issues before. It's a common theme in my life.

I posted this in the astrology forum, and some of you may find it interesting.
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/014254.html

I actually have certain animals that could be considered totem animals. I have an owl that whoos at night. I've grown very attached to it. I call him "My owl." He seems to be (this will sound corny) in tune with certain themes. Like he Whoo's when I'm thinking about certain things.

I am afraid of crows. They make me uneasy, so they're probably significant.

I like rabbits a lot, and I had a wild baby rabbit. He died though. I was very upset. When I see rabbits I get very happy, though, because I remember my baby rabbit, and how cute he was.

I really like Elephants lately.

Zala.. that was funny (Plumbing conjunct Pluto)

um, "MUSTANG" here are bits n peices of what I found while researching this for you:
[I hope something here helps...]

A groundhog symbolizes that you already know the right answer to the question that's been on your mind. Follow your instincts.
***
Seeing a GROUNDHOG: your real life grounded world forcing an issue upon you.
***
This symbolizes a time of transitions, initiations, new beginnings, of planting seeds that will sprout later.
***
The animals that you are most often drawn to , or fear the most also have something to teach you. Many times animals enter your life to help you overcome difficult transitions. Animals can help you learn what qualities you are most lacking. You need to listen and pay attention to the message of each animal.

If you have a difficult time with self-knowledge , animals can tell you a great deal about yourself. The animals represent the sub-conscious mind. The animals strength and character also reflects human characteristics. First, learn the nature of the animal and then look at what part of your nature is most like that of the animal. The animals that you are attracted to, see in dreams, have encounters with, or collect as stuffed toys , pictures, and figurines can all give you very important information about yourself. Do you like to visit the Zoo, or wear animal tee shirts?

When a particular animal appears in your life you can determine what the underlying message is. Become aware of the repeated appearance of some animals. Synchronistic occurrences teach you to pay attention to the hidden messages in everyday experiences. Become aware of repeated patterns or themes. Each animal has certain medicine powers to teach and knowledge to share. Each animal has its own method of over- coming the many challenges it has met in order to survive. We have always had an alliance with the animal clan. If your connection is weak or has been ignored in the past, it is time to renew your ancient connection with your oldest teacher, the animals .

Earth wisdom comes through many sources, in the Book of Job, we read (12:7-8): " Ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you".

There are many methods of connecting and communicating with Spirit. If you listen and are receptive to its voice, Spirit will reveal its messages through the animals and nature. Connecting with a power animal establishes a psychic link which helps you communicate in non-verbal terms. You can receive additional information by observing the animals natural characteristics and their environment. Pay attention and you will receive practical, healing and helpful messages.

As A Power Animal:
The Groundhog's Message and Medicine is
Understanding the power of cycles / Knowing when to hibernate / Building / Ability to go underground

If groundhog is your power animal it is time to explore alternative states of consciousness. Pay attention to your dreams and try meditation. Study a specific subject or area of interest. Take up a Yoga class and learn to relax. Dig beyond the surface to get to the truth of important issues. Perhaps it is time to add an addition to your home or build the home of your dreams. Offer your home to someone in need but make sure that it is only temporary. Is it time to withdraw from busy activities and hibernate for a while? Don’t paint yourself into a corner and always have several ways to exit from a negative situations. Add more vegetables to your diet. Study the seasons and apply the wisdom of the changing cycles in your daily life. You are a good person and a blessing to many people

Umm, tonight a young cat came to my door. It was a tiger-striped one, and it wasn't a stray. He had a collar and looked well cared for. I'd say he was eight months to a year old.

Prior to him coming to the door, I saw him trying to go under the fence in my backyard. This particular part of the fence is brand new - before it was replaced, the old fence had openings - now it doesn't. So, I guess the change confused him.

I wouldn't have mentioned it, but in light of the recent "visitor" I had, I thought it was funny.

What's next, I wonder?

I decided to look into cat symoblism for the hell of it, and interestingly enough, I found that this animal, like the groundhog, has connections with Scottish Witches and history. My deceased grandmom is Scottish and I always think of her when anything Scottish is mentioned. I wonder if it means she is watching over me...

OK...this is really starting to creep me out. Today, I was looking out my screen door and I felt "someone" looking at me. It was a squirrel. It was staring me down. I looked at it and it held my gaze for awhile. It was looking right into my eyes intently...just like the groundhog had. It wasn't there when I first opened the door (I'm positive).

Is something bad going to happen to me? That's what I feel...you should see how they look at me...it's unnerving.

Does anyone know what (if anything) animals staring you down would portend?

PS - The cat I had written about was waiting for me again one night. It was just sitting there in the middle of the sidewalk. I stopped and looked at it, and it stared at me, but then it ran away. I know all of this sounds like I'm being an alarmist, but it's happened a lot and now I'm creeped out.

I do not as some folks see, or consider the crow/raven or vulture as evil.
I have been warned and avoided terrible things, injury, accident and assaults, by taking the omens of the Ravens and Crows. Buzzards too, and snakes etcetera. Yet many would consider these creatures evil. Yet they, like the pretty creatures of Earth, are also God's creatures.
Without the fly, which most consider nasty, and other scavengers of decay, this planet would become quite a place of stench and rot unchecked, except by microbial action, erosion or dessication. The dance of life is like a wonderful symphony with each doing its part. Some have distasteful jobs in a human's point of view.
But just like the human undertaker or forensic investigator doing autopsies on dead
and decayed or severely mutilated bodies, all have their place in this dance of life and death, these Earth Rhythms.

As far as the groundhog.
Well I would not put too much into his appearing to you as any omens.
I'd be more worried he is diseased like rabies or something.
And after the #%$!groundhogs %^&*! chewed my trees killing many and dug into my basement wrecking havoc, I no longer find groundhogs cute. Same goes for the squirrels who get in the walls and ceilings and defecate and chew electrical wires. Not nice nor cute at all.
Your animal visitors including the cat could just be what animals do.
We live next to a large nature preserve so being regularly invaded by critters is normal and not linked to omens usually. We have had bats too and many other creatures including bears.
What I find interesting however with you is that you seem to be sensing their coming or being in your environment.

Thanks for answering my plea for help! It DID help me. I was a bit freaked out yesterday. It's just that this keeps happening and it doesn't normally, so it's unnerving.

I agree with you about all animals being necessary. They all serve a major purpose in the balance of our ecosystem. (What about the bees dying off! That is very very frightening, but I digress.)I am not afraid of, nor do I dislike crows. It's just that they appeared at a time in my life that heralded a nasty time in my life. Bats appeared at the same time. They freaked me out, because I knew they were an omen. And they were right. That is why this whole situation is scaring me, because I am unsure what it means. It isn't as clear to me this time and I don't like that. I even saw a fox recently (or what looked very much like a fox). It's just too many happenstances for me, especially knowing that I've been given warnings before that have proved to be correct. At least then I knew what the warnings meant, and I guess that is the crux of my discomfort now - I don't know what this all means. I DO know it is a warning.

I wouldn't like groundhogs either if I were you! I had no idea squirrels got into walls. My God, that would suck! I really like bears a lot. I know they are dangerous, but I think they're cute. Then again, I only see them on tv.

See, I live in the city...at the edge of the city, but it's still the city.

You hit the nail on the head about it being interesting that I'm sensing them. That is the problem, but how could I not sense them when they come right up to me and stare me down? That says to me that I'm meant to sense them, because I have no choice but to sense them. It's as if (and this sounds crazy) they are making sure I sense them.

I hope I can figure out definitively what they're trying to tell me.

Nothing (negative) is going to happen to you!!!

You are IN THE FLOW!!! You are connecting with creatures of Divinity!

Be Blessed! And send each and every one of these creatures that come your way a silent blessing....

How many people place bird feeders, squrille feeders, hummingbird feeders, etc... to draw the little ones into their lives???

And you have accomplished this quite naturally...

You are blessed!!!!

I tend to agree with hippichick on this one MUSTANG.
Is this affinity with animals new or have you always been one to draw them to you?
Also as forest habitats are depleted, animals are starting to enter cities more than ever before.
I have noticed what appears to be more than twice the animal contacts this summer than ever before. Especially the last 4 months.
I had not seen a bluebird in over 3 decades or so but they are back. Increases in cranes, hurons, eagles, kingfishers, bears, lizards, snakes, bats, salamanders, chipmunks, geese, beavers, groundhogs, deer, coyote, fox, rabbits, frogs, toads, turtles, turkeys, hawks, doves, buzzards, crows, other rare birds, etcetera. More lightning bugs and butterflies also.
Decrease in bees though, and rats.

Terri,

I hope you're right, but I'm unsure.

It's funny; you're right, most people would love for this to happen to them! I've actually had animals follow me around before and walk right up to me and it was adorable. It made me happy. But this is different. The animals look right into my eyes for a long time. At first I think, "aww..." but then the look in their eyes scares me - it is a creepy look. Then, I get scared. Then, the animal runs away (after I become scared).

Another thing - cicadas have been around a lot lately. The last time they were around was two years ago. That was a bad time. It is probably just their life cycle, but they remind me of the time two years ago. More importantly, they remind me of my deceased grandmom, which is actually a good thing. I felt that two years ago she was around me and the locusts just made me think that even more. Now, the locusts are laying on their backs, writhing on my sidewalk. It's disturbing.

I'm sure all of this sounds so whacked.

This is really nothing new. Animals always come up to me. My reaction to it is new, because the way they're looking at me is freaking me out. It's like their eyes are boring into my soul, trying to tell me something, and they don't break the gaze until it scares me. That part is different - the look they give me.

That's a good point about the depletion of the forest habitat. I hadn't thought of that...

It must be cool for you to see all of those animals, assuming they don't look at you weirdly.

Your mentioning bluebirds reminds me of something. I was telling my sister how I loved cardinals and blujays, but haven't seen them for so long. Then, they starting coming around right after that. I was so excited! That was also recent, but it doesn't bother me, because they don't look at me weird, so it's a positive thing.

I heard that the bees are becoming extinct and that that's really bad.

I hadn't heard about rats dwindling. Are they?

Mustang, I do understand your hesitation...

Once I had a coyote walk out in the middle of the road, right in front of my vehicle and just stop and look at me, dead in the eyes....creepy to make eye contact with a coyote....in broad daylight!

It is said that the souls of dead indians are within coyotes, I still can re-member the gaze of that animal and his yellow eyes and this has been 18 years ago.

Have you tried asking them why they are following you? Or asking for a dream? Maybe they want your help of sorts....Or, just asking them to not scare you.

Have you evoked spiritual guidance and protection? Have you considered shielding techniques?

I still feel they are not here to hurt you, but obviously offer to you a huge message and this is something you must discover for yourself.

Good luck and keep us posted!

That coyote incident sounds a lot like my "fox" incident. It crossed the road in front of my car, too. I didn't think we had foxes in Pennsylvania...maybe it just looked like a fox. I'm unsure.

I can imagine how unnerved you were, because that's how I feel now.

That's a really good idea! I'll do that tonight.

Oddly, no. I used to do stuff like that, too. I'm so out of touch with all of that lately. I'll have to do that. Although, I don't fear the animals. I just fear what message they're sending me.

I know...that's what's scaring me, because I can't figure out what that message is. I don't think they'll hurt me. I'm very unafraid of animals. I just feel they're trying to send me a message and that it's a bad one.

I haven't discovered my totem animal. I would think it discovers you...right?

Hello Pennsylvania!
Born there but live in Ohio now.

I get weird looks from animals and people.
But usually in a strange cool way.
I ask for animals to help and protect and warn me. Been doing it all my life to date.

Do you like Ohio better than PA?

PA puts me on my saturn ascendant-line(just found that out, but it makes perfect sense!) and I don't like it very much.

It is a beautiful state, though.

Animals look at you oddly too? At least I'm not alone. They seem to warn me of things too. It took me awhile to realize that, though.

The thought just occured to me of my daughter, now 15...when she was a baby I took her to a local animal refuge that has all kinds of wild animals taken in that dumb people tried to make pets out of and failed, lions, tigers, monkeys, cheetas, etc.

ALL of the anilams FREAKED when this little baby rode by in a stroller, the cats paced infront of her in their cages, the monkeys jupmed, screamed and ran all over their cages, etc. I thought perhaps I had given birth to a Damian in female form!!!

Throughout her childhood, though, all animals are attrached to Samantha. Once in her grandparents field with the horses a very otherwise wild baby colt came up to her and let her touch him...only her. All of our cats love her and my dogs as well.

I can take her to Sea World or the State Aquarium and FISH, jellyfish, octpusses will swim up to her...

It is really strange....I have often told her she should become a vet or do something with animals, but she says she "feels" too deeply for them and it hurts her to see them hurt.

She is a special kid anyway, born with a severe heart defect and a stunningly beautiful girl I had wondered if the animals have been able to sense her "specialness."

I have told her a time or two she must be an alien....Aqua sun would qualify her for that by itself, but she has also an Aqua moon, Jup in the 8th and Venus, Mars and another planet or two (escapes me now) in Cap in the 7th....Cancer asc...

I wonder, again, if animals can sense not ordianry individuals and react to them???

o, and recently she caught after much trying and patience a seagull on the Gulf Coast of Texas who had a fishing wire wrapped around it's beak and we cut off the wire and set it free...the bird could fly easily, but somehow she caught a wild bird!!! There is a pic of her and the bird on Gaia's Garden.

aww...that's cute. I remember that scene from "Damian." Animals don't react like that to me...they are always happy around me. Do you think they could've sensed she was ill and were trying to warn you? Dogs can smell cancer, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if they could smell other ailments.

It's odd,(my situation) because I rarely go out lately...maybe that's why they're coming to my door...extreme measures...?

Actually, it's quite the opposite...
