Start with a doctor, rule out a possible physical cause first.
On that note, have you physically over exerted yourself of late or taken on any new responsibilities?

if there is no physical origin-
perhaps it could have something to do with the heart or solar plexus chakras? So, issues with emotions/love or energy/vitality
Or- a kind of past-life flashback, which came suddenly- perhaps you have been attacked there in another time..something along those lines.
I imagine a lot of illness is emotional in origin, especially those weird complains we all get, pains and aches we can't explain to doctors.

Are you speaking of the Sternum?
That is the area your ribs join just below the collar bone and above your diaphragm. Did you lift anything heavy or do any exercises like swimming or raking that you are not used to?
Does it feel weird only, but no pain, even when you rub it?
Could it be pre-cog? Do you live or work any place you are in danger?
Have you had a cold?
Are you breathing ok?
Any heart fluttery feelings or butterflies in the stomach?
Any dental work prior within the previous week?
Do you remember exactly when it started and what you were doing for like the entire 12 to 24 hours before?
Any jaw discomfort or headaches?

I agree, it could be a past life memory surfacing. When you felt it while lying in your bed was it right after waking up or another time? Has it continued and does it happen when you are not in bed?
