This thread can't die. Maybe I'm just selfish. Basically it's the only one that appeals to me. I'm doing fine, Aphrodite. I quit my weekend job! I am taking a break from working the extra days/hours for a while. I enjoyed the people I met there (patrons)... but I never could really get use to or feel good about helping certain ones along in their self destruction. No walking away at the end of the day with a sense of pride. I'm friends with the owner... he understood and told me that I was welcome back whenever I was ready. I've been missing the outdoors pretty bad for a while. It's time to get back out there. __________________________________________ Scorpio sun, venus, mars, mercury and uranus Libra moon, pluto and asc. IP: Logged |

I almost forgot. I'm self aware enough to realize that I can't sit around and do nothing with all that extra free weekend time. I'm back to volunteering at the National Park. _________________________________________ Scorpio sun, venus, mars, mercury and uranus Libra moon, pluto and asc. IP: Logged |

you all are always so very interesting! cool beans...I like this thread cause it takes the place of my free write journal-lets see, men seem to act aggresively towards meunnecessarily-someties it gives me a bit of a panic attack like last nite my landlord showed up way late (to me) again and too soon in the month again banging on my glass sliding door again-after last months fiasco and many incidents he is a problem but I like my condo i like the price and i like my view of the Gulf of Mexico and its close proximity to the mail place, groceries, doctor. I also like where my unit is placed in the building as I have more privacy than most and it is usually very quiet plus my killer kitten can romp in the atrium once a day for his exercise without any problems. What i do not like is my landlords unnecessary bullying and sexual innuendos and not doing repairs in a timely fashion. i am sexually "straight" but hold men at an arms length anyway-very hard for them to get too close to me which might be what turns on their aggressiveness-well of to shower and back to work to my boss I asked for help with on another thread. i am actually quick to temper but quick to forgive-my boss's son said i am too good to my boss especially after the last incident. Well, i guess so. Ever since I did the baby forgiveness trick with my once-wicked-now-forgiven mother it comes easier...also bought my killer kitten (Tuxedo Meow Jr. or Tuxie too) a white mouse to chase around. yes what a cruel psycho i am. When he did get the little mousie i got it away from him. I had gotten it at the flea market and it was already in not so good shape. i put it out on my balconey- I saw the little thing yesterday looking healthy and happy hauling bird seed and making a nest in a cocanut shell bird feeder carved to look like a smiling cat! Its fur was gleaming and it was already nice and fat. Tuxedo meow jr. screamed and bit my toes about it all. Ha ha! well bye. Whacko spedacko tuxedo meow ..also got my night blooming jasmine! really promotes my femininity! thanks for this spaceIP: Logged |

Hello Hello Fayte.mI lurv this thread. It's so wholesome. Well, I have been away (from where I usually am). I am still away and I have been spending time with my mother in the last few days, who I hardly see since leaving home a few years back. I speak to her everyday regardless, but just being around her is so lovely. I'm the youngest so I am unlikely to let go of the apron-strings anytime soon. I am so inspired(creatively) lately. I am especially proud of the poem I wrote since I suck at poetry. I made a conscious decision, a while back, to write poetry until I can. Here's the poem. "Returning Home to You Falling asleep in your warm embrace Fears and worries left without a trace There is someone to hold while I’m sleeping A sweet lullaby of your gentle breathing A long-awaited welcome of surrender As all walls and barriers are broken asunder Because wonder and adventure now fills my days And all doubts and pains belong in yesterdays Imagination left when reality proved better When intense desires turned thought into matter Gratitude replacing all wanton incompletion As longing dwells only in silhouetted retrospection Choosing to wake up for the day; not just letting it be For at the end of the day I know you await me With heart and arms opened in reverence For one of many returns in your deliverance" I was writing lyrics when it came up. I usually write rhymes for 'rap' (hip-hop) not poetry in a traditional sense. I also wrote a song, but I do that often so it's nothing to speak of... it's just that this song is so different. I feel like I am growing as a writer in general, or I am in a different mind-space, like my mind is opened, as if I am connected, together... hmmmm... I am just enjoying sleeping in the room I grew up in, and having my mother cook me my favourite meals (home cooked food is a god-send!) and maybe being fed and acting like a baby is helping my creative juices to flow... Or... it's that thing I hinted about above (hearts getting fonder) that is making me so creative. I seem to write when I am feeling intense emotions so... Yeah, that's me. TM- The cat song was funny. IP: Logged |

Hi Fayte!I really like this forum. Its cute, and I like the responces its getting. (I only read the first page... <3 ) I just turned 18 about a few weeks ago. I feel like I've aged a hundred years. Right now, I just feel like I'm changing everyday, and that who I was before, who I was last week, or last month, is not who I am now. I feel like I'm in the process of becoming someone. In a way, I feel like I dont know who I am anymore. Am I the wild kid who doesn't give a crap? Am I the studious hard working girl? Am I caged? Am I holding myself back? I feel like...right now, I'm learning to tone myself down a bit, learning to hold myself back when necessary, and picking my battles. Its all very confusing, not knowing who you are anymore. But its fun too, watching yourself unravel. Huh. On a lighter note-- College applications. Teacher Recs School. Lol. Basically. Oh! And My soon to be boyfriend bought me a huge soft cuddly teddy bear. <3 IP: Logged |

Fayte hope u will feel good. This is such a difficult country to survive in. Someone was complaining about paying 70k / yr for being put in a nursing home. Do people really save all that money when they grow old? I thought that was really a lot of money.

So is dying also commercialized here ..hehehe.. I know i must be serious after hearing that and start saving.
But honestly I don't fear death. I am more like going to the icy Greenland on a serene beautiful evening. And asking mother nature to carry me away in to the night. Do I have faith thats gonna happen? I do. But the evil doubth always hangs around...heheh... Anyhow - October as in Octa = 8. Transformation. How did we get it wrong.

History of the calendar see links for hyper links for more information. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_calendar The original Roman calendar is believed to have been a lunar calendar, which may have been based on one of the Greek lunar calendars. Roman traditions claimed that it was invented by Romulus, the founder of Rome about 753 BC. The earliest known version contained ten months, and started at the vernal equinox; however, the months by this time were no longer 'lunar':
* Martius (31 days) * Aprilis (30 days) * Maius (31 days) * Junius (30 days) * Quintilis (31 days) * Sextilis (30 days) * September (30 days) * October (31 days) * November (30 days) and * December (30 days) http://www.crowl.org/Lawrence/time/months.html#October A History of the Months and the Meanings of their Names A History of the Months January -- Janus's month February -- month of Februa Intercalaris -- inter-calendar month March -- Mars' month April -- Aphrodite's month May -- Maia's month June -- Juno's month July -- Julius Caesar's month August -- Augustus Caesar's month September -- the seventh month October -- the eighth month November -- the nineth month December -- the tenth month Sources See Also A History of the Months The original Roman year had 10 named months Martius "March", Aprilis "April", Maius "May", Junius "June", Quintilis "July", Sextilis "August", September "September", October "October", November "November", December "December", and probably two unnamed months in the dead of winter when not much happened in agriculture. The year began with Martius "March". Numa Pompilius, the second king of Rome circa 700 BC, added the two months Januarius "January" and Februarius "February". He also moved the beginning of the year from Marius to Januarius and changed the number of days in several months to be odd, a lucky number. After Februarius there was occasionally an additional month of Intercalaris "intercalendar". This is the origin of the leap-year day being in February. In 46 BC, Julius Caesar reformed the Roman calendar (hence the Julian calendar) changing the number of days in many months and removing Intercalaris. January -- Janus's month Middle English Januarie Latin Januarius "of Janus" Latin Janu(s) "Janus" + -arius "ary (pertaining to)" Latin Januarius mensis "month of Janus" Janus is the Roman god of gates and doorways, depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions. His festival month is January. Januarius had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long. February -- month of Februa Middle English Februarius Latin Februarius "of Februa" Latin Februa(s) "Februa" + -arius "ary (pertaining to)" Latin Februarius mensis "month of Februa" Latin dies februatus "day of purification" Februarius had 28 days, until circa 450 BC when it had 23 or 24 days on some of every second year, until Julius when it had 29 days on every fourth year and 28 days otherwise. Februa is the Roman festival of purification, held on February fifteenth. It is possibly of Sabine origin. Intercalaris -- inter-calendar month Latin Intercalaris "inter-calendar" Latin Mercedonius (popular name) "?" Intercalaris had 27 days until the month was abolished by Julius. March -- Mars' month Middle English March(e) Anglo-French March(e) Old English Martius Latin Martius "of Mars" Latin Marti(s) "Mars" + -us (adj. suffix) Latin Martius mensis "month of Mars" Martius has always had 31 days. March was the original beginning of the year, and the time for the resumption of war. Mars is the Roman god of war. He is identified with the Greek god Ares. April -- Aphrodite's month Old English April(is) Latin Aprilis Etruscan Apru Greek Aphro, short for Aphrodite. Aprilis had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 30 days long. Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love and beauty. She is identified with the Roman goddess Venus. May -- Maia's month Old French Mai Old English Maius Latin Maius "of Maia" Latin Maius mensis "month of Maia" Maius has always had 31 days. Maia (meaning "the great one") is the Italic goddess of spring, the daughter of Faunus, and wife of Vulcan. June -- Juno's month Middle English jun(e) Old French juin Old English junius Latin Junius "of Juno" Latin Junius mensis "month of Juno" Junius had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 30 days long. Juno is the principle goddess of the Roman Pantheon. She is the goddess of marriage and the well-being of women. She is the wife and sister of Jupiter. She is identified with the Greek goddess Hera. July -- Julius Caesar's month Middle English Julie Latin Julius "Julius" Latin Julius mensis "month of Julius" Latin quintilis mensis "fifth month" Quintilis (and later Julius) has always had 31 days. Julius Caesar reformed the Roman calendar (hence the Julian calendar) in 46 BC. In the process, he renamed this month after himself. August -- Augustus Caesar's month Latin Augustus "Augustus" Latin Augustus mensis "month of Augustus" Latin sextilis mensis "sixth month" Sextilis had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long. Augustus Caesar clarified and completed the calendar reform of Julius Caesar. In the process, he also renamed this month after himself. September -- the seventh month Middle English septembre Latin September Latin septem "seven" + -ber (adj. suffix) Latin september mensis "seventh month" September had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 30 days long. October -- the eighth month Middle English octobre Latin October Latin octo "eight" + -ber (adj. suffix) Latin october mensis "eighth month" October has always had 31 days. November -- the nineth month Middle English Novembre Latin November Latin Novembris mensis "nineth month" Novembris had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 30 days long. December -- the tenth month Middle English decembre Old French decembre Latin december "tenth month" Latin decem "ten" + -ber (adj. suffix) December had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long. Sources These sources are somewhat inconsistent. I have chosen interpretations that are predominate among sources or that seem most reasonable. The sun is shining and I am going swimming today. The exercise routine is sticking thus far. I fell off the cart briefly when PMS mood swings struck and I had a hard time with it last month staying focused and productive.Ive been diligently taking cranberry extract tablets twice daily since February, and havent had a UTI since. Going 8 months without one is a record! I was getting UTI about once every 2 months before. Im still trying to find a good place to get the news. Something published that is short, sweet and to the point. Something that I can quickly whiz through to stay current with morsels of food for thought. I think with the advent of the internet, long written, drawn out articles are starting to fade out. People can get the information they need quicker these days. I just gotta find where my place is. So, I am heading out to a local coffee shop now to brunch. It was fun going through all the new posts. I agree with the person that said this is a wholesome thread. Here is a photo of the place I go to time to time for weekend brunch . . . I recommend it for anyone who visits San Francisco. Aphrodite IP: Logged |

quote: DesiderataGo placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
