well, here's the thing about my hair...i love getting the clippers and cutting all the hair off my head.

and i love the way it looks as well. i always feel confident and attractive with my hair like this.

but i realized today that it goes much deeper than appearances. it goes way back to previous life times, of wearing my hair sheared off for spiritual reasons.

a synchronicity occurred. i'm trying to enhance my personal space energy with some feng shui...so all my furniture and stuff is in transit in my little apartment. as i was moving stuff about, my babe found a picture of me and himself from 2005, recently after i had sheared off most of my hair. and i was so struck by it...there was an intensity in my eyes and appearance that captured me so much for a moment.

then, a few moments later i randomly picked up a book about ancient religions, essenes, discussing some esoteric stuff about women shaving their heads for spiritual purposes, and fending off demons. at this moment i remembered that orthodox jewish women continue this practice to this day, and keep their heads covered with head coverings or wigs.

but it never occurred to me that such a practice had such esoteric origins, til i considered that monks also shave their heads....perhaps for the same purpose?

and then i was struck again, that the reason that i identify so much with my hair shorn off, is that it is related to previous incarnations, when i wore my hair like this for spiritual and esoteric purposes. this was a very strong knowing.

quite a surprise. this very real reason for my doing this. i have shorn my head numerous times (this lifetime), last time was in April this year. my hair is growing now....quite long for me, lol, and i feel the urge to get the clippers again.....

i love my hair this short, and now i know the reason! it's a clue to previous lives. when i was a little girl, my mother kept my hair short, and i would get her slips and put them on my head, and pretend that i had long hair. but i now believe that wearing the slips on my head felt familiar, as a head covering, from other, distant lives.

this is rather exciting....i feel very connected to my other incarnations through this hair shearing thing.

oh, here's a thread from long ago...similar thoughts.

http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001293.html

i've read also that long hair, or thick hair, indicates a kind of full spirituality as well. wonder...what the different spiritual implications would be.

naiad, Now I know "I love you!"

I have always known I had previous life connections with the Essenes. So much so that I've jokingly responded to the questions of others "Where are you from?" with the response The Essenes, LOL!

Anyways, at the fine young age of 13 years old.
[with hair as long as to just above my knees]
I too shaved my hair! Let me tell you it completely freaked people out!
I however, quite liked it.

I did not know until this very moment, [reading your post] that this was a practice of the Essenes. Totally makes sense now!

WOW!!!!
What book is this?
I must learn more, LOL!

By cutting their hairs they want to curb their wishes to look good as it might be a obstcale in penance

how do men react?

Funny you ask because that's why I chose to do it in the first place!

This guy I was dating.."My First Love" kept going on and on about how beautiful my hair was. After several months of this, I began to wonder if he only saw me as this physical being and was only attracted to my looks. Mind you, girls at this age are already naturally insecure.

I really wanted him to like me rather "LOVE ME" for my inside self.
The "me of me" or spirit if you will.

So I asked him: What would you do if I cut it all off? He replied: I'll break up with you. I was piXsed! So I tested the theory to see how he truely felt about us and myself. I shaved it off, all but my bangs.

Wow! Anyways, he did not break it off with me at all. He fell more deep into my spell, LOL! The relationship lasted for several years! Now it's been 20+ years and we are still awesome friends. This was the utimate spiritual test for me! I found many people very shallow during this time and discovered others who did see, love, and appreciate the "Me of Me".

ps I think my father is still bent over it though, LOL!

*Naiad, I really am interested in learning more about this book

i'll have to find the book for you spiritfriend. back later to reply more fully.

and about my hair, or lack thereof...well, when i shear my hair very close to my head, i always wear more cosmetics. it puts my facial features much more "on show" to speak, and i heighten this effect with makeup.

now that my hair is longer though, i don't wear any makeup, except a bit of earthtone lipgloss at times, and sometimes a little tinted moisturizer. that's all...never anything else.

i love the look, and the feeling of freedom, i get from shearing my hair off super short. everything about me seems more enhanced as well...face, clothing....it's like reducing everything to its essence. very "bauhaus."

I'm intrigued by the Essenes but I've always kept my hair long so perhaps I was a Native Indian in one or more of my previous lives? I've always felt I should have darker skin and beautiful black hair. Who knows?

A 'friend' gave me a rather daring undercut when I was 17 or 18.....that felt rather liberating at the time......perhaps this counts for one incarnation as an Essene?

Love you, my fellow pilgrims of soul searching!

------------------
It would be nice to evolve some sort of telethapy of the heart; empathy. A feeling, knowing inside how we are all interconnected. Empathy/ love would be a a law unto itself.

I have been wondering- perhaps we are only 'Free' or have 'Free Will' in as much as we are spiritually awakened. We are like Gods in amnesia. This amnesia is the source of our soul-sickness.

i think she is, or was, involved in a kabbala group. the day she made a public display of shaving her head, she wore a large star of david pendant that was very prominent in almost all the pictures taken of her.

it would seem, to me, that if she were trying to avoid drug issues, that she would not have made the process into such a public event.

but i could be wrong.

i saw an interview with Sinead O'Connor saying that she heard that Britney had been listening to her music, and was inspired to shave her head from that. if Britney could get some musical inspiration from Sinead, that would be awesome.

i haven't shaved my head, only sheared it very short...the first time in early 2005. might do it again in a few months. i will post pics when i do.

There was this author who wrote a comprehensive book about the Kabbala, she and Madonna were/are fans....I think it has something to do with this wrist band silly Britney wears.....I don't really care much for her; she does nothing I admire. She needs to find her inner strength to pull herself together. And if she is going to wear fur she could at least make sure it is faux. I'm sure she wouldn't enjoy the conditions and pain those animals are subjected to in fur farms. Much of the fur is from animals who have been tortured abroad.

She has a pretty face and she can't sing very well.
WHO CARES??!!!

Sorry!

In the Christian tradition, a shaven head normally signifies penance. Thereby you feel better because you are "clean" again

the name of the book is Mary Called Magdalene. just a few minutes after my boy found the photo i mentioned, i picked up this book -- it's a novel -- and opened it directly to a page on which Mary and Jesus are having a conversation. the narrative describes Mary as walking about with her shaven head uncovered, but unconcerned about doing so, as it reminds her of the power of her recent victory in fending off demons, having shorn her hair for this purpose.

yes that's the book. i have not read it yet. it was turning directly to that page, and that particular section, of Mary thinking about her shorn head, and the spiritual implications, that struck me so intensely. the conslusions about essenes, as i believe Mary M was an essene, were my own. i thought the book was about essenes when i bought it...but still...should read it all the way through.

interesting that Madonna is a kabbalah convert, and her mystical kabbalah name is Esther. Esther is a biblical queen who saved large numbers of Jewish people from slaughter.

Britney spears was wearing the star of david when she shaved her head at a salon called Esther's.

well...can't say why Britney Spears shaved her head, and in such a public fashion. i do wish she would have kept the cool look though.

i've cut my hair very short mostly because i love the way it looks, not for spiritual reasons. it's also very easy to change my hair color that way too.

i'm not a kabbalah mystic in any way, lol. i had a druggie, dealer boyfriend for a few years, over a decade ago, who enticed me to smoke pot with him and always had it available for me. when he and his friends tried to make me do more serious drugs, though, i refused. their ire followed me around for quite awhile, still does, i'm sad to say. but since then, i've used no marijuana (or alcohol) whatsoever. never used cocaine, heroin, extasy, or any related or other such drugs, in my life either, so no hair issues there. i did try lsd once (with same druggie boyfriend) over 20 yrs ago, but i never thought it would adversely affect my hair follicles, lol.

and i'm not a christian so i'm not doing penance for anything either. in fact, in the bible, i think Paul says something about women shaving their heads as a sign of subservience to their husbands, lol.

it's amazing how much people have invested in women's hair issues. i read an article recently about how Britney Spears' head occupied the entire front page of major newspapers when she shaved it, but that gwbush's budget, on the same day, only made the inner pages of the papers. of course the budget slashed services to poor people and hugely increased corporate welfare and tax breaks for the wealthy, so perhaps there was a reason for Britney's hair escapades. apparently, most people care more about her hair than issues of national importance and concern. government can slide under with all sorts of objectional stuff, as long as troubled young celebreties have personal lives readily available for public shredding.

bread and circuses ya'll.
