Is identity important to you?

How do you see yourself, how does this differ from how other people perceive you?

Do you have different social identities that you wear, versus a private identity?

Does identity even matter?

Does your career identify you, your relationships, your hobbies, your family?

My thoughts on this is that if you are touch with your spiritual side, you won't have to worry about identity because goodness will naturally flow from you.

What did various spiritualists have to say about identity?

My identity is always the same anywhere and everywhere I go, I don't have a problem with letting people see the real me.

With that said there has been a few times where I just opt to remain quiet instead of lying or creting a new identity to fit in just because some people are way out of touch.
But if those people would ever ask me the truth about something or an opinion I would give it to them same as anyone else, with nothing else but the truth, even if they would laugh or think I am crazy.

Without awareness our Identity or I is nothing. It causes us pain and suffering. When you realize the true I you will be bubbling with joy and happiness.

without identity, i wouldn't know who i truly am, whether i'm putting up front something fake around other people, or if i'm just alone by myself. i know myself better than anyone else. i definitely feel like i have to act a certain way around certain people, but i also have a private identity as well. of course identity matters because it defines who you are, your character, and your boundaries.

Does your identity identify you?

Or do you identify your identity?

I have 1 identity, however how much of it I reveal depends on the situation

When I'm alone with myself or with those closest to me, I have no need to hold back anything.

When at work, I don't let on re: the more sensitive side of myself. Whether I have an office job or I'm gigging, the soft, sensitive side of me that is a big mush and can take things personally doesn't serve me well.

In social situations, what I reveal is somewhere between alone w/ myself and @ work.

The only difference between the 3 is how much sensitivity and softness I show. But regardless of the environment, the fundamental identity is always the same. Just...me. I just try to spend as much time as possible in situations in which I can myself, without holding back.

As far as how others see me...I don't know and I try not to care honestly. I can't control other's perceptions of me, and I'm satisfied that while not perfect, I am fundamentally a good person...caring too much about other's perceptions just causes pain and frustration IMO. I do care how those close to me perceive me, which is overall positively or they wouldn't be close to me, but otherwise...meh.
