Spiritfriend ~ may i have the privilege of your expertise?

i am seeking to remedy a feng shui issue -- that of my front door directly facing my kitchen...most specifically, my stove.

i've read that this instigates quite harmful shar energy...and that a good remedy is to hang wind chimes in front of the stove. from the ceiling, i suppose.

so this i did....i was in a hurry to achieve this, so i bought a pretty wind chime arrangement post haste.

the chimes are several strings of capiz shells - alternating circle and square shapes in light pastel oranges, yellows and whites. they are delicate and elegant, and softly melodious.

however, i recently happened upon a feng shui directive saying that any wind chimes used indoors should always be the hollow tube kind.

can you provide some insight on my conundrum, please? i'm not in a position to purchase more wind chimes at the moment, but i don't wish to compromise this already difficult feng shui problem any more than it is.

also, i also just discovered that capiz shell is actually oyster shell...and my kitchen/stove lies directly in the fame gua of my apartment. this apparently is not a good place for a water element (i don't know, i'm guessing that oyster shell is a water element).

i'm quite the feng shui novice.....i've collected several books over the years, but the one that finally made sense is called Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life. it's pretty simplified, in the realms of the complexity of feng shui, but clarifies much of it for me.

the style is 'Black Hat', which i think places the bagua over your space in relation to the front door of the dwelling, rather than in relation to compass directions.

well, anyway, if you have any wisdom that you can share regarding this, i would appreciate it so much!

thank you.

Hellooooooo,
Sorry, I just now saw this post:
Black Hat sect is also known as Fast Food Feng Shui for many reasons.
If this is what you connect with so be it...
Having an interest, desire, and the means to improve your environment and self is really what it's all about anyways.

I myself promote form and compass use for several reasons, but I am quite familiar with the path in which you speak of. We may need to play with this a little as I cannot visually see your homes actual layout... But let's start with this:

1] The wall in which your stove sets against is what direction?
(while facing your stove)
2] Your front door, again while facing it.. (from the inside) is which direction?

*North, South, East, West, North-East, etc?

3] Are there any open shelf areas between the two?
4] Are any furnishings "directly" between the two?
5] Are you trying to tone down the energy or increase it?

My first instinct is to say use a large potted plant between the two so that the rounded pot changes energy flow. But not knowing your layout or which elements are best suited for which area...

I might rather suggest a mirror of sorts:
Shars are only impactful when they can be seen, a well-placed screen or mirror will get rid of the shar. A shar, or poison arrow, is any straight line or arrow pointed at you or your home. A shar is believed to be a potential for disaster. Shars can exist outside your home or inside your home.

(The door in itself itself is not a shar unless left open and aiming at the stove, inhabitants, etc.)

Common shars upon your home from the outside are driveways, roads, sidewalks, and the corner of a neighboring house. The worst kind of outside shar is anything that is directed at your front door. For example, a sidewalk or pathway that is laid out in a straight line towards the front door of a home is considered a major shar. Its existence greatly increases the chances of disaster for those who live in that home.

Shars can be removed if they can't be seen. If the corner of a neighbor's house points directly at your house, you can remove the shar by erecting a fence that obstructs the view of that house. Planting a tree or shrub just the same...
Shars that can't be disguised (such as the front pathway) should ideally be removed.

Shars inside a home are generally created from things like table corners and wall protrusions.

continued below...

To set up the cure, first one has to identify the direction and location where the shar chi is coming from. Then one has to decide if they like to use the destructive method (destroy by using the opposite element) or exhaustive method (control by using the cycle opposite productive cycle) in curbing the afflicted energy. Ancient texts calls only for destructive cycle. The exhaustive cycle never existed. However, recently many feng shui masters have adopted the new exhaustive cycle as well. Since data showed it also work, then there is no need to go against it. But for stronger effects, one would consider using the exhaustive method. There are altogether 5 different types of setup using destructive method. We will dicuss these later if need be....

Simplified Feng Shui Magic Square

This side of the square aligns with your front door

(please mark where your door is and where your stove is)example; top left side of Fame is my stove

Are your rooms already set up following either of these patterns?
Cycle of Production

Cycle of Destruction

Cycle of reduction - NEUTRAL
This cycle corrects imbalances caused by the cycle of destruction. It's the reverse of production.

FIRE rebalances WOOD rebalances WATER rebalances METAL
rebalances EARTH rebalances FIRE . . . and so on!

What are your personal elements and directions?
So let's pretend that you are a WATER. Then it means that you should surround yourself with METALS (because it allows for production of your element), but you should keep away from EARTHS (because it destroys your element). This being said you can safely choose a remedy most in tune with YOU.

Finally I'd like to add here a little something you said that triggered an Ah..Ha.. moment while reading your post:

"....i was in a hurry to achieve this, so i bought a pretty wind chime arrangement post haste."

Were you also in a hurry or not so focused while you hung it?
-Is this possible?

The reason I ask?
The very first thing that traditional Feng Shui teaches us is that intent, focus, and meditation is necessary to enact the cure.

If I tell you to hang a crystal near the front door and you just go and do it. -The act will have little to no effect on the situation.

However, if you take the idea, do the action along with your intention, the results will be astounding!

Intention is the elixir that breathes vitality into this system of knowledge called Feng Shui.

I hope this makes sense...

thanks Spiritfriend. my intention for this remedy was a few months in the making. i had considered it quite a while, and kept putting it off until i got all the details correct. i could have done endless research, and found any number of conflicitng suggestions. as it was, i decided finally to put my intentions into action, and once decided, then went about it without further procrastination.

it was only after that i discovered this about the type of wind chimes that are suitable indoors, that one expert mentioned.

you are so knowledgeable. thanks for your help.
