Heard this quote from Joseph Campbell regarding situations when we are troubled. He says close your eyes and remember the moment when you were happy. When we open our eyes we see the outside world and we close our eyes we look inside us. If we are unsettled all questions keeps popping up including thoughts of people. I didn't read Joe completely, but guess it makes sense that we follow our bliss in those troubling or anxious moments. Its like shuffling thru threads of memories and hanging on to the good memories. Even though it won't last forever it will take your blood pressure down and cool your nerves in those moments.

I love "Follow your bliss."Campbell's statement isn't "regarding situations when we are troubled," but regarding finding your true path in life. If it helps you through troubling or anxious times, then that's nice. quote: It is a matter of identifying that pursuit which you are truly passionate about and attempting to give yourself absolutely to it. In so doing, you will find your fullest potential and serve your community to the greatest possible extent.

Thanks much. Just heard briefly about Joe in one of the movies. And yeah cud be applied to any moment of our lives. quote: If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Wherever you are -- if you are following your bliss, you are enjoying that refreshment, that life within you, all the time.

Well that's just FYI for folks who want to find out more about Campbell's thoughts on his bliss phrase. I do find it wonderful when people can take something and apply to their own lives in a different way. I haven't thought about that saying in regards to troubling times... But I now have that new way to look at it thanks to your post. IP: Logged |
