Help!!! I am reading a book that is teaching me to get closer to my guardian angel. As I was reading I pondered about whether or not I really wanted to see my guardian angel. I came to the conclusion that I am afraid to see my angel. I don't know what to expect. Is this normal? and how do i deal with this?

They'd never want to scare you, so as long as you think it would scare you to see them they won't show themselves to you.
The first you are likely to notice is a feeling of "presence" with you, but if that feels scary or uncomfortable that is NOT your guardian/s. Your guardians would not usually let unpleasant spirits near you anyway, so that is not likely to happen
After a while you might see them as shadows at the edge of your vision field, but that will not be scary or uncomfortable if it is your guardians. It might not even be your guardians, but other neutral/friendly spirits.
I've interacted with my guides/guardians for some time, but I'd also be scared half to death if one of them suddenly showed himself to me..

It looks like whatever your mind forms it into. Let it appear to you naturally, do not expect it to look like anything.

I have no idea what they look like, since I'd still be scared if I saw one
I have a pretty good idea about my primary guides though, but that is more a feeling than anything else, it was what I felt they looked like when I heard their names.

Some have usual names, some have foreign names, some have old names and some have "weird" names. Not just speaking of mine though, I mean in general. My primary guide has a quite common English name, but with old roots, and the other guide who have been working with me the last few years have an old Hungarian name. Those are the only two I know the name of.
I suggest you try to google "spirit guides" or "spirit guardians", "guardian angels" and such, there really is a lot of interesting stuff to find.

I'm actually relieved to hear that someone else feels like this! Times when I've asked my guardian angel or spirit guides about something, who I do not know as yet, I've always asked them not to show themselves yet or do anything that will scare me. lol.

One night I set my "internal" alarm clock so that I would wake up at 7am the next day. The cool thing was, someone tapped me on the shoulder about a minute before the alarm went off! I thought it was my bf, but when I looked over, he was fast asleep and facing the opposite direction... whoever did it was helpful and friendly though! I found the experience to be really cute and cool! So I think that could have been my spirit guide maybe?

None of you are alone in the being scared of those things department. Count me in on that as well.

All I know about my Guardian Angel is that his name is Dominic. I asked my guadian what his/her name was and that name just popped into my head.

Since I would never have selected that name myself and don't particularly care for the name, or didn't at that time anyway, I felt it had to be my guardian letting me know his name.

Then I wondered why I got a guardian angel with an Italian name when I am part Native American and have no Italian blood lines.

I would be scared if any spirit showed their self to me so I like the thought that Dominic is there guarding me but I don't want to see him.

Even so, I have to be honest and say that I still question the existance of angels. Which is to say that I neither believe deeply they exist or believe they don't exist. It's still one of the things I question.

I do lean towards their existance though. Mainly because I was in a house fire when I was 3 years old. I hid in the corner of my bedroom between the wall and the dresser so the firemen did not find me right away. I know there was someone in that corner with me. In my memory of that when I try to recall it in my mind, I know I was not alone in that corner but as hard as I try to see in my mind who it was I cannot put a face to the person or maybe, the spirit, that was with me until I was found. I do recall in my memory that I was not afraid. I had second degree burns on my right forearm and forehead but don't recall any pain.

That event in my early life keeps coming back to me from time to time and always I recall I was not alone. Maybe it was Dominic who was there with me.

do you guys believe if you ask your guardian angel for help they'll come? ive never asked my guardian angel for help, i usually talk to dead relatives. its strange that this thread would find me today out of all days, and im really hoping by speaking to them, it will guide me in the right direction and make me feel better.

i too have told spirits(i have sensed) not to show themselves, especially dead relatives. i cannot handle that, i'd have a heart attack i think.

If you ask for help or guidance they will always try to help you. Whether you pick up their signals or not is another thing
But the thing is, you always have to ASK specifically for their help, they are there, ready and wanting to help you, but you have to ask... and be ready to receive the signals, either a feeling, or words popping in to your head, something suddenly being shown to you.
I remember I was once writing an email to someone, the guy who helped me find the names of my primary guides, so I was actually writing about one of my guides, and I described her as a "No-nonsense character", but suddenly I was unsure about whether I'd written "no-nonsense" correctly, if I was suppose to split the word or not have the "-" there. I was sitting there looking at his, when suddenly someone I work with came up to me with a movie they'd just been given. It was a region 1 DVD, quite uncommon in itself here in Norway, and she asked me if I'd heard about it (I love movies and have quite a collection) and when I looked at the back cover there was the word "no-nonsense", it nearly jumped out at me and I got this eerie feeling, I can't even remember what movie it was, heheh.. I think that was her way of both showing me that I'd written it correctly and to tell me that she agreed with my description of her
Not a very big thing that, but I just wanted to show that it doesn't just have to be earth-shattering things they connect with you about

other people see angels around me that i do not see and this has protected me from harm on numerous occasions. i have called for angelic protection and it has been provided. i ask not to "see" in "reality" things that would frighten me. i ask to see these things in "dreams that aren't dreams" which i could call dreams in order to filter away any fear if that makes sense.

also do be careful not to invoke demons due to some trick you fell for. keep yourself protected and aware of what you are opening doorways to- like james joyce wrote, " the devil once lived in heaven and those that have not met him are unlikely to recognize an angel when they see one."

Good point, TM. When you traverse into the spiritual world you have to be cautious of who or what you converse with. Not all spirits are good.

I don't think you have to ask your guardian angel for help. I think they are always with you, always guarding you, always helping and guiding you. Otherwise they wouldn't be called "guardian angels."

Angels are messengers of God. Since we don't have to ask God to help us, God helps and guides us anyway, I wouldn't think you would have to ask your guardian angel for help. Although it couldn't hurt to ask for help and it certainly couldn't hurt to ask for guidance.

But those are just my thoughts. In Scripture it says that during Jesus' passion in the garden the angels were "sent" to minister to him. At no time did Jesus ask for their assistance. God sent them to minister to Jesus. I think God does the same thing for us. Whether we ask or not.

I talk to dead relatives as well, writesomething.

I don't think either that you have to ask for all help, they pretty much just "do their thing" in important or life-threatening situations, but they can also guide you in more trivial things, IF you ask.
Or when you are in a difficult situation, in the beginning you're using all your energy worrying and fretting (and not really asking for help or being open to impressions), and then when you calm down and start thinking about what you should do things usually present themselves
That usually applies in all situations, you have to be open to receive the guidance, and that is maybe what I call "asking" for help

I asked for help or advice on this because i want to develop a very close relationship with my guardian/guide. I have a short patience for many things and I am trying to learn the most basic or simple way to interact with them that has great results. I read that they could have been your imaginary friend during childhood. I personally don't recall having one because i was old from birth but i would like to become closer to them even though i have never really seen them. Im sure that they could help me a lot with my purpose in life and to help others i meet along the way.

I recently decided to ask my guardian angel something and I was having this conversation in my head, when Mr Gemini came in and kept interrupting! I found it irritating but then I got a sense that my guardian angel (or guide) was having a giggle about it! So I then saw the funny side of it too and at the same time I knew that I was being heard. Kinda funny. I also just got a very good reading at the Psyche forums which confirmed things to me about certain guides who might be around me. It's nice to know that there's help and guidance, but still I think the reality of it is too freaky to really 'go there' in a direct encounter. I just don't like that kind of thing.

Also... I do think that guardian angels do whatever they can to guide and help you, and if guides also do that then it depends on whether or not we see the signs and act on them. I've realised that guardian angels will act for you if you ask them to. A favourite saint of mine is St Padre Pio and he believed that you can ask your guardian angel to take a message to God, or to himself, and that the message is taken faster than we can imagine! lol. I think of the guardian angels as having some kind of special favour. I heard something just recently that you can ask your guardian angel to take a letter to another person's guardian angel so that they can work together to help the other person or both of you.

oh that is so beautiful. I am not afraid to see my angel anymore because i read about the knowledge and conversation of the holy guardian angel rite and the bornless one rite. It shows me that when i do have an encounter with my angel, that it will be pleasant and in a non-startling way.
