I'm getting a new cell phone number because my last one reduced to the number 8, which I am trying to get away from due to my birthday also being an 8 (per the advice in Star Signs).

With the new number all ten digits add down to the number I want - 6. To add the numbers across,it is a 42. If I break it apart (area code + exchange + last four digits) it equals 15, something that is not considered desirable for 8 birthdays. Does anyone know the correct way to calculate these? Also, The last four digits of this number are 26/8. I wonder if that matters.

I don't want to take the trouble of getting an new number if it will not bring the effect I want. I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Jai

Why try to escape? Just fall in.

Why fall in when I can escape (or at least lessen the burden).

There is no escaping. Perhaps there is patch work and it is temporary.

Just become aware why the universe is sending you signs? Perhaps you escaped the last time the signs came knocking on your door. When you simply observe with your intellect and your whole consciousness you will come to an understanding.

I will quote you Vivekananda:

Life is Beautiful: First, believe in this world - that there is meaning behind everything. Everything in the world is good, is holy and beautiful. If you see something evil, think that you do not understand it in the right light. Throw the burden on yourselves!

It's Your Outlook That Matters: It is our own mental attitude, which makes the world what it is for us. Our thoughts make things beautiful, our thoughts make things ugly. The whole world is in our own minds. Learn to see things in the proper light.

Mannu, I my hasty reponse to your post may have given the wrong impression.

I do agree with you that ones thoughts are what matter. I believe that is the most important thing that determines the kind of life one will live. But at the same time I have really been considering what I read in Linda's Sun Signs book and the other research I have done since on this type of numerology. I have decided I will follow the advice given and select harmonious numbers according your my day of birth. As long as I am getting a cell phone anyway, I would like it to be in harmony with my goals.

The way I see it, its like when you move into a new apartment. You can be happy regardless of what the place looks like as long as you keep the right thoughts. But having a decor with a pleasing and harmonious color pallet and decorations that are meaningful to you will contribute to an overall feeling a well being.

Now that I know something about numerology, I will try to work with the energies of the numbers.

Regards,
Jai

Great attitude, Jai!

I have taken the same approach as you. I find that one has to come to terms with how they really feel about the information they take in. I am a solid 8 birth number and I did not like the numbers that my name came down to, according to Star Signs' interpretation. Now, of course it is possible to take another approach and just disregard the interpretation given by any source. That doesn't make either approach invalid; it just makes them different. I've learned much by changing my name to a "better" vibration and I feel that I acted with good interests. I don't regret any of it, regardless of seeing things differently now. So you do what you feel is right for you and keep learning. All of our paths should be trodden willingly.

Be well, brother.

NosiS, thanks for your support.

You menioned that you changed your name. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing what your new name adds down to? When did you change it? And have you noticed any change in your thinking so far?

I took Linda's advice changed my name so that it adds down to a single number 6 vibration. The court date was on August 24, 2004. It's sort of a second birthday for me. lol

I wouldn't say that its effect is any change in thinking. At least not in the way one would expect. The single fact that I changed my name was quite an impact in and of itself. The loosening effect that it had on my psyche as I began to disassociate with many things that one normally attaches their identity to (like one's name, birthdate, etc.) was strengthening. There is a fine line there. I've come to an interesting place by standing on these stones of identity without holding on to them. Is this making sense? It's difficult to express.

Ultimately, a name change is like a change of wardrobe. Nice clothes can make you feel good about yourself. But what you do with that feeling is still going to depend on the tendencies of your deeper character. So change your name if you are so inspired but don't get caught up in the magic. We have to keep going and keep working on our deepest Self. I did it for me, to feel better about confronting my own insecurities. But I still have yet to confront insecurities.
