I recently read a small but powerful book called 7 Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra. I just had that book for a night, and I read all the 100+ pages in 2+ hours. I thought I would share a summary of what I read, with you all.1. The Law of Pure Potentiality
The first spiritual law of success, the Law of Pure Potentiality, says that our essential state is one of pure potentiality. Pure potentiality is pure conciousness; it is the field of all possibilities and infinite creativity. Our physical body, the physical universe - everything in the material world - comes from the same place: a field of silent, unmoving awareness form which anything is possible. There is no separation between this field of energy and our spiritual essence, our Self. Knowing who we really are gives the ability to fulfil any dream we have, because the same field that nature uses to create a forest, a galaxy, or a human body can also bring about fulfilment of our desires. When our internal reference point is our spirit, our true Self, we experience all power of our spirit. When our internal reference point is the ego or our self-image, we feel cut off from our source, and uncertainty of events creates fear and doubt.
To experience the Law of Pure Potentiality:
# Take time each day to be silent, to connect with your spirit, to just Be.
# Practise non-judgement. Begin each day with the statement "Today I shall judge nothing that occurs,: and throughout the day remind yourself of that statement each time you catch yourself judging.
# Commune with nature. Silently observe the intelligence within everything. Watch a sunset, listen to the sound of the ocean, or simply smell the scent of a flower.
2. The Law of Giving and Receiving
The second spiritual law of success, the Law of Giving and Receiving, is based on the fact that everything in the universe operates through dynamic exchange. Every relationship is one of give and take because giving and receiving are different aspects of the flow of energy in the universe. The more you give, the more you will receive.
To experience the Law of Giving and Receiving:
# Give a gift to everyone you encounter, be it a compliment, a flower, or a prayer. This will begin the process of circulating joy and affluence in your life and in the lives of others.
# Gracefully receive every gift that life offers you. Be open to receiving, whether it be a material gift form others, a compliment or a prayer.
# Silently wish everyone you encounter happiness, joy, and laughter. By giving and receiving gifts of caring, affection, appreciation, and love, you will keep wealth circulating in your life.
3. The Law of Karma or Cause and Effect
The third spiritual law of success is the Law of Karma or Cause and Effect. Karma is both the action and the consequence of that action. The Law of Karma implies the action of concious choice making. When we choose actions that bring happiness and success to others, the fruit of our Karma is happiness and success. In every moment, we have access to infinite choices. The best way to use karmic law is to step back and witness the choices you are making in every moment.
To experience the Law of Karma or Cause and Effect
# Witness the choices you make in every moment. The best way to prepare for any moment in the future is to be fully to be concious in the present.
# Whenever you make a choice, ask yourself two question: "What are the consequences of this choice?" and "Will this choice bring happiness to me and to those who are affected by this choice?"
# Ask your heart for guidance, and be guided by its message of comfort or discomfort. If the choice feels comfortable, go ahead with the choice. If the choice feels uncomfortable, then don't make that choice.
4. The Law of Least Effort
The fourth spiritual law of success, the Law of Least Effort, is based on the fact that nature's intelligence functions with effortless ease, with carefreeness, harmony, and love. This is the principle of "Do less, and accomplish more". When we learn this lesson from nature, we easily fulfil our desires. If we observe the nature, we see that the least effort is expended. Grass doesn't try to grow, it just grows. Fish don't try to swim, they just swim. This is the intrinsic nature. Least effort is expended when our actions are motivated by love, because nature is held together by the energy of love.
To experience the Law of Least Effort
# Accept people, circumstances and events as they are in this moment. When confronted with any challenge, remind yourself, "This moment is as it should be," because the entire universe is as it should be.
# Take responsibility for your situation without blaming anything or anyone, including yourself. Every problem is an opportunity to take this moment and transform it into a greater benefit.
# Relinquish the need to defend your point of view. In defencelessness, you remain open to all points of view, not rigidly attached to any one of them.
5. The Law of Intent and Desire.
The fifth law of success, The Law of Intent and Desire, says that our intentions and desires, when released in the field of pure potentiality, have infinite organizing power.Energy and information exists everywhere in nature; at the level of pure conciousness, and there is nothing other than energy and information. This means that there are no well-defined edges between our physical body and our extended body - the universe. If we practice present-moment awareness, then the imaginary obstacles - which are more than 90% of the obstacles - disappear.
To experience the power of Law of Intention and Desire
# Make a list of your intentions and desires, and look at this list before you go into silence, before you go into sleep at night, and when you wake up in the morning.
# Release your desires to the field of pure potentiality, trusting it to handle all the details for you. Know that when things don't seem to go your way, there is a reason.
# Practice present-moment awareness in all your4 actions. Refuse to allow obstacles to consume your attention in the present moment.
6. The Law of Detachment
The sixth spiritual law of success, the Law of Detachment, says that the way to acquire anything in the universe is to relinquish our attachment to it. This doesn't mean that we give up the intention to create our desire; we don't give up the intention, and we don't give up the desire. We give up our attachment to the outcome. The moment we combine one-pointed intention with detachment to the outcome, we will have that which we desire. Anything we want can be acquired through detachment, because detachment is based on the unquestioning belief in the power of the Self. All we need to do is to nurture our intentions in our heart and go with the flow. The Law of Detachment does not interfere with our goal setting. We still have the intention of going in a certain direction, but between point A and point B there are infinite possibilities.
To experience the Law of Detachment
# Practice detached involvement. Stay alert to the opportunity within every problem by letting go of your idea of how things should be.
# Accept uncertainty as an essential part of your experience. In your willingness to accept uncertainty, solutions will spontaneously appear.
# Remain open to all possibilities and enjoy every moment in he journey of your life - all the fun, mystery, and magic in the field of pure potentiality.
7. The Law of Dharma or Purpose in Life
The seventh spiritual law of success, The Law of Dharma or Purpose in Life, says that we are spiritual beings who have taken physical form to fulfil a purpose. Everyone has a purpose in life - a unique gift or special talent to give to others, and for every unique talent and expression of that talent, there are also unique needs. When we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our spirit. This is goal of all goals. There are three components to the Law of Dharma. The first component says that each of us are here to discover our true Self, to find out that we are spiritual beings, or divinity in disguise. The second component says that each of us has a unique talent that we are here to express. The third component says that we are here to serve fellow human beings with our unique talent. By asking the question "How can I help?" instead of "What's in it for me?" we go beyond the internal dialogue of the ego, into the domain of our spirit - that part of our awareness where we experience universality.
To experience the Law of Dharma
# Nurture the divinity within you, the spirit animating your body and mind, by carrying the conciousness of timeless Being in the midst of time-bound experience.
# Make a list of your unique talents. Then list all things that you love to do while expressing these talents.
# Ask yourself daily "How can i help?" and "How can I serve?" The answers to these question will help you to serve your fellow human being with love.
***
The universal mind choreographs everything that is happening in billions of galaxies with elegant precision and unfaltering intelligence. Everything in life is an expression of the miraculous unfolding spirit. In every moment, spirit just unfolds spontaneously, and the universe evolves into higher levels of creativity, awareness, and divinity. True success is to witness the unfolding of the divinity within us. We are travellers on a cosmic journey, and this moment is a little parenthesis in eternity. Life is eternal, but the expressions of life are momentary and transient. If we share with caring, light-heartedness, and love, we will create abundance and joy for one another. And then this moment will have been worthwhile.
