What exactly IS a co-incidence, and why is it that when someone calls something a "coincidence" it seems synonymous with saying "It has no meaning," or "I'm not looking into it"

I am not sure what is true or isn't, all I DO know is that sometimes things are easier made to seem grandiose, just to doubly make sure that if their dismissal doesn't get ya, their true meaning or significance is still covered in smoke
