I recently read that the most common misuse of the term deja vu seems to be with precognitive experiences, the kind where someone gets a feeling they know exactly what's going to happen next, and it does.

That described my experiences with what I have called deja vu to a T.

It is usually very short, I could be talking to someone and suddenly get this feeling and then "know" the next two or three things that are going to happen, like "now this person is going to say something (I won't know exactly what, but when it's said it will feel right), then I'm going to answer (I'll open my mouth and say something, without having thought about what to say first, but it is relevant) and then I will turn my head in that direction and see a doorway and someone will come through it". Usually I don't know what I'll se, only that I'll look somewhere and se something, and simultaneously know "that was it!"

It usually only last for that long and I've always thought that was deja vu, and when I have described it to other people they have also called it deja vu, but now I'm not so sure.

Does anyone here have any thoughts about the subject? How usual is it that the two terms are confused? Are actually most experiences of deja vu precognition? If what I have described is not deja vu then I have never experienced true deja vu, I think

You have described precognition.
Deja vu is when you experience something and it feels too familiar, like "I have done or said this before". It is closely tied to past lives. Or like going someplace you have never been before and you just "know" it...it is hauntingly familiar.

Ok, I have described precognition. True deja vu is very rare, I have heard.
Do actually most people who experience deja vu experience precognition then? Considering the similarity/confusion of the two experiences, might similar cerebral processes be involved?
People love to study deja vu, but do the studies have their terms confused too? After all, call it precognition and people won't touch the subject with a ten foot pole.

I'm just throwing questions out there, I'd like to have some opinions and/or discussions. Alternatively, what is this form of precognition I have described?
