What did you learn today?Cheers, Dean. ------------------ I realized it for the first time in my life: there is nothing but mystery in the world, how it hides behind the fabric of our poor, browbeat days, shining brightly, and we don't even know it. Hmmm, today I learned humility is desirable only if you already have the capacity to be humble. Dean. IP: Logged |

I finally learned how to sync my ipod. Does that count? I hope so because I spent HOURS(!!) trying to figure that out.And I lose hours of videos. It ought to merit some kind of special entrance into heaven for outstanding stick-to-it-ness in the face of agonizing frustration! IP: Logged |

Today I learned:Liars are the last to hear the truths they speak. The subtlest minds fall through the cracks; stupidity keeps us sane. The domes of polished churches gleam; Turned-down goblets with broken-steepled stems. These priests have drunk too much!! Or is it not enough? IP: Logged |

I learned that if we believe in a sort of evolutionary means of creation that each of our senses was preceded by that which it perceives. Light doesn't exist because we have eyes. We have eyes, so that we might have means of sensing the light. It's fairly common sense, but not something I'd ever really thought about before. IP: Logged |

good girl, the other day I learned that Badak is the best free codec for media players - not sure if yours plays video, but the codec that came with my zen wasn't as good as Badak.I learned today, that I feel no ethical dilemmas whatsoever censoring masked swear words with asterisks. If it happens too many times though, there may be other actions Cheers, Dean. ps, Happy Australia Day! IP: Logged |

I had an personal experience of "Lairs are the last to hear their own truths" yesterday but could of put it into words so eloquently HSC...My life lesson at this presnt moment goes something like this..... The Goddess wears many faces and they aren't always sweetness and light, sometimes one must don the mask of Kali (The Crone), for even mother nature herself kills to be kind. A mother punishes as readly as cuddling her child..... IP: Logged |

Hi Bad Jelly,Punishment is a nasty word. Discipline makes more sense. What is most important, when a parent is disciplining a child, it that the parent takes the necessary actions, without hardening his/her heart toward the child. Do what needs to be done. But do not show less love. The greatest tragedy is when parents try to discipline their children by shaming them and withholding affection. It is not necessary to guilt-trip them, or shun them. There are other ways. Love is a right, not a priviledge. Take away their priviledges, not their rights. IP: Logged |

Today I learnt ... "It is believed by most that time passes; in actual fact, it stays where it is. The idea of passing may be called time, but it is an incorrect idea, for since one sees it only as passing, one cannot understand that it stays just where it is" - Zen Master Dogen IP: Logged |

Lol, the words you speak are ture HSC, but it is of my partner I speak not my child. My partner had been treating me badly... shouting and ranting at me over the smallest things, it had always been in our relationship, but was now becoming more frequent. I stood up to him two days ago and told him just because I love him doesn't mean that I'm going to put up with his nonsense, that I would rather be on my own than shouted at over nothing. Its very hard for a softly spoken, cancerian loony bird to snip those silvery cords that attach her to her dreams, especailly those dreams which attach her to her first love. To do it I had to change my face, envoke the side of my personality which I do not like, hard and harsh, I had to tell him the truth knowing that the truth would hurt him..... and by hurting him I would be hurting myself. Tomorrow I'm hoping to come back here and write: "Today I have learnt that the truth will sent you free" XD
