i'm not too sure if this is an inner ear thing....but, its persisting alot lately, just wondering if anyone has any ideas on my predicament:

It started less than a year ago, well, i noticed it more...and the past few months its been happening very intensly...it begins with a sort of deafness in one ear.....its starts of like a soft electrical buzz, then ...it gets louder and seems to echo all through my head, everything seems different for a few seconds...and sometimes gets so loud as if an aeroplane is roaring in my head....its been louder since about a month ago...when i was in the bathroom, i felt like someone was behind me, so i turned around thinking they just wanted to make me jump but no-one was there. So i turned back around, then it sounded like a big 'shhhh'...made me jump out of my skin...it sounded like a human whisper. i really dont know what this is...im relatively healthy, i know im not going mad....it just feels like 'electrical sensitivity' but other than that i cant explain it...i would really appreciate any thoughts...

Me too. I thought it was Tinnitus but I don't hear a ringing song and the doctors said my ears are very healthy.

A fellow spiritualist said he can hear it too its like river flowing. Unfortunately theres no way to compare.

Osho said some people do hear a strange sound before entering Silence. It will go away eventually before I hear the ultimate Sound the hindus calls it Om. It is the soundless sound (sounds contradictory doesn't it? well I am not even thinking about it until I experience it for myself). He also said, that if I feared it, it will go away and its not good. So I am very relaxed and indeed enjoying it. In fact my sensitivity has increased, I cud hear sounds much better now.

I hope we are in the right club LOL

**Gee, I broke my rule of being silent but making an exception here because this ain't the first time it was brought up here at LL. Many here at LL reported it.

Hm...odd that it's happening while you are walking around and fully awake. I have something like this happening as I drift off to sleep for many years, though it's sporadic. And yeah, it's as if it's coming from somewhere inside your head or you are listening with an inner ear. For a long time it was a loud strong rushing wind noise, then more of a deep buzzing, and more recently it's changed into a really high pitched tone. Very loud and startling, though i'm used to it now. As I let it go on, the volume and intensity seem to go up and a few times i was in a bright white light even though eyes were closed and room was dark.

Because it's happening when you are awake and about, i'm not quite sure if it's the same kind of thing. Does it happen when you are falling asleep sometimes too?

It could be a psychic thing.
However..do get your ears checked and maybe carotids too.

thats reassuring ...it sparked a thought... soundless sound, contradictory in nature; the sound i get is kinda contradictory in nature, like being underwater and above water at the same time, when it gets its most intense... id prefer to think of it in spiritual terms (LEXX, i looked at what carrotids meant, i hope i'm not mistaking potential enlightenment for a nerve/spinal/heart/brain thing. i really do lol )

Taurus; thanks for the reply, im glad again others have had similar experience, ive had a good think, and its only happened that once while i was standing up...other times have been sitting up in bed, going to sleep, and an odd morning, but yes, usually when i've been kinda laying down. i always here electrical buzz though, it hurts my ears...like what you get off a tv or a live plug.

wow. you see when it gets too intense for me i try to stop it, ive never really gone with the flow, that must have been amazing!

Well I do feel this sometimes when I'm alone in my room. At these time I'm just silent don't know why. There are times when i feel at night where I just feel nervous and feel kind of scary so i play some good instrumental music and then go to sleep, or some time i play some good movie or switch on light and then go to sleep it makes me feel that some things going around me and i just feel secure when i do this. somehow i believe that it's in silence and some times usually in dark that these things happen.
