firecat,

I have not taken these courses but if you feel a calling to them, then why not experiment? If you decide to do so, try to plunge into the experience without any preconceived notions of what you will obtain. Just let yourself and the situation unravel and create a very naturally-produced observation from it. Whatever you seek, be weary of the sensationalism of others and your own.

I hope that this article may help your perspective:

If you have trouble understanding it, let me know. I may be able to clarify it a little, if you'd like.

i have been on a course 2 eight week ones, then went onto third one gnostic wisdom, but iv,e unsuscribed, was attracted to it because you can have o.b.es,astral travel, but i have done neither,i didnt practise much ,but if it gave me the wow factor i would have you know when something hits the spot.the courses are ongoing they start again with the astral courses,so its ongoin like a production line for new recruits, they teach that ego,s are bad lust anger etc,but i don,t see nothing wrong with lust i think my ego,s are what make me as a person, they talk about the wheel of life were you eventually become mineral then veg, then animal and they say pigs, ants are a low form of life no intelligence, but i think everything as a place on the wheel of life, pigs ants are intelligent when you have a nightmare you are in hell when you go to bed on a full stomach and have nightmares that is hell ,the person that teaches dont seem to have no experience of other spiritual things only gnostic, they don,t agree with drinking ,i like nights out ,i also like horror films but it doesnt mean im a bad person ,i basically like the things they say is bad even shopping which i do occasionally,i even felt like i had to dress down when i went not wear high heeled boots etc i even felt guilty about going out for a drink.
so it is not for me

That does not resemble any gnostic wisdom I have known of.
Sounds like a scam/cult.

I like this definition the best:

quote:
Gnosis = Greek for Knowledge.
Gnosis is the universal perennial wisdom underlying the world's philosophies, religions, arts and sciences.

Speaking of the religious aspects of Gnostic thought/wisdom, the general definition which is here:
GNOSIS

GNOSTIC

Here is a bit concerning the religious variety.
GNOSTICISM
As with popular religion, much should not be taken literally.
There is alot of metaphor and allegory used to explain more complex things.

well such courses are meant exactly to do that -- that is creat a fight within you. Its bound to happen.

to make most use of the short period of time you are with them perhaps they do advise you not to drink or be angry and other such things...

appears you are already gnostic wise and that course will not help you. so move on why waste both's time.

Hi firecat:

I think you sound like a good person. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with gnostic wisdom.

My suggestion would be to build your spiritual practice from the ground up. Before getting into more heady stuff (third eye chakra) like astral projection, you should work to strengthen you root chakra with grounding spiritual practices. These could vary widely. May I suggest yoga, Buddhism, meditation on your root chakra, or nature worship? Even petting a beloved pet or watering a plant could serve this purpose. Taking a sitz bath could also be effective.

Hey, firecat.

Your experience sounds like it has a lot to do with the sensationalism that seems to have taken a hold of the ideas behind gnosticism.

When the process of "Gnosis" was active within humanity, it was a few thousand years before the emergence of Christianity and shortly after. Since then, the process itself has waned and, ultimately, it has completely vanished. All that remains is the exocentric knowledge that has ironically become the bellwether of the New Age "Esoteric" movement. The true esoteric principle behind the process of Gnosis has been gone from human experience for some time now. That principle had much to do with the preservation and passing down of ancient knowledge by humanity through a specific organization of ritual and initiation. The principle that leads us to the path of that knowledge now has much to do with the mystical facts of Christianity, in which the power to unravel the living knowledge of the Spiritual Worlds becomes available to the inner forces of individuals.

To paraphrase and clarify what I am trying to say, let me be more blunt: The process of Gnosis is dead, so to speak. We can no longer obtain much from these ancient practices with much validity. It has become obsolete.

Truth be told, the teachings and exercises that a lot of these courses endorse are the palest shades of what once was sought in ancient times. And all of them will never allow you to reach a true Gnosis. That's not to say that their teachings or exercises may not be helpful either. As long as one takes things with a grain of salt, anything may prove useful.

I feel for you and your disappointments throughout these courses. I know what it's like to want and seek something so much and to lose hope over it. I wish you many blessings in your quest and I hope that you may soon find a proper path for yourself.

Well, BR, that's just common sense.

If I ever needed to know anything about roaming the blue, I'm pretty sure I know exactly who to go to.

Good luck to you, firecat.
