has anyone read michael newton's books? he is a psychologist/hypnotherapist who stumbled on past life regression decades ago and has done thousands since; he specializes in regressions to the spirit world BETWEEN lives where people review their last life, plan for the next, meet with spirit friends, etc.he is not a new ager really, and quite clinical in his approach. i find his insights fascinating...

no, he doesn't get into cayce at all. he is a clinical hypnotherapist/psychologist who had a client who regressed spontaneously and he took it from there. now he teaches hypnos how to guide clients to the spirit world through a theta trance...i don't think he was particularly interested in this till he saw how effective it was in helping people deal with present-day problems. he was impressed with the similarities in his clients' experiences in between lives and zeroed in on that part of regression therapy...IP: Logged |

teasel, i don't know your financial situation but i DO know a hypnotherapist who does regression sessions for $100. because of the sensitivity involved and unpredictability of the sessions, she does not box off finite times as with other hypno clients, but leaves quite a wide window open for unexpected developments.personally i have not had that kind of money but even so it seems reasonable, especially for someone who seems as keen as yourself to experience this. that said many people seem to do quite well with recorded inductions as in brian weiss's stuff...also i would think ohio might be a little less expensive than norcal where there are so many affluent seeker-clients! I've made two appointments with a lady, about two hours from here – one for August 14th, and the other for September 4th. I’m ordering one of her CD’s, so that I can listen to it, and get used to her voice – hopefully, it will help me to go under when I’m actually in the room with her. I can't afford the Life Between Lives regression (yet) - I was hoping she might allow me some sort of payment plan for that... I can get the first two - much cheaper - regressions out of the way, though. If I learn/experience anything from it, and it doesn't feel too weird to share, I'll post something here. (I'm hoping to find some way to deal with my anxiety, as well - that she might be able to pop something into my head that helps me to not become such a mess under certain circumstances.) IP: Logged |

Oh, katatonic - I didn't see your message before. I tried a few CD's by people like Brian Weiss and Sylvia Browne, but wasn't sure of what I was getting. They were good for relaxation, though. I love Weiss' CD for relaxation (if only I could find my copy). quote: teasel, angels won't say if you died in a gas chamber. this angel reader is a con. or at least her "messages" don't come from angels.
I haven't taken her up on her offer, because I wasn't sure about her. I didn't think that I could be cured in one session - and I know what caused my issues in this life - but my mother thought she was nice, so I thought I might give her a chance. Money is usually tight, though, so I didn't want to blow $100 on something that might not help. (I'm sorry I deleted my other posts here, from late last year - I felt self-conscious after posting. ) IP: Logged |

Thank you, kat. She popped a CD in the mail to me, last night - she isn't far, so I'm hoping it will get here tomorrow. I can't remember if I mentioned it above, but she said that would relieve me of the cost of a basic session she usually has, before going into anything deeper (so she saved me $60). She was trained by Michael Newton - I found her through his website. IP: Logged |

I had my first regression today. She was a very nice lady. I felt disappointed, because I wasn't getting very much - and I wasn't trusting what I was getting. I was getting the odd word or number (age-wise), and the occasional image, but I didn't feel as though I was anywhere else... I was physically relaxed, but had trouble letting myself go, so I imagined I was listening to her CD whilst lying on my couch (as I have been), and that helped a bit - I'm just concerned that I missed out on something she was saying or instructing me to do, when I was visualizing my living room windows, and trying to feel my own couch beneath me. I used to be terrified of being in complete darkness - so much that I woke up screaming if I found myself without any light (as a child). She thinks that's what we honed in on this time... I'd like to think that we did actually get somewhere, but I'm not so sure. One thing that did catch me off guard, was the name that came to me; I wasn't getting anything, then this name came to mind - a male name that just made me grin, and think, "Are you kidding me? No way... maybe there's something to this after all." I got this big grin on my face, and then almost laughed (I started to), because it seemed so silly - I knew I hadn't made it up to just have something, but I felt a bit embarrassed, and have felt some mild concern that I pulled stuff out of my a**, even if it was unconsciously. She was so encouraging and enthusiastic, that I wished I was getting more information so that she wouldn't feel embarrassed if it wasn't working, but she assured me that I was doing fine - as well as any other person undergoing hypnosis in that way for the first time. She wants me to try writing about what I felt and saw, to see if I can get anything else. (I haven't felt anything else so far, but then I was concerned that I didn't go as far under as she thought I did.) She said that I'm very analytical, so she wants me to write it all out - that usually helps me to process things. I was aware of sounds around me in and outside of the building... she'd warned me that the UPS man might pop in to use her bathroom, but he was always very quiet, and wouldn't disturb us. I heard my parents pull up at some point, when she was asking me questions, and wondered if that was the UPS man wanting to use her facilities. I've probably forgotten something, but I started to feel very sick over an hour ago, when I was sitting in Borders, so I need to go and lie down. I wanted to get a bit of this out. I'm going to let mum listen to my tape, to see if there's anything on there that I don't remember. (I feel weird about that - I'm glad I have it, but I don't want to listen to it.) IP: Logged |

yes i think the first session being uncharted territory you might not be able to go as deep as you'd like...are you going again? the effect can be cumulative, just like massage or other therapies. even antibiotics take awhile to saturate your system enough to do the full job!IP: Logged |

Just bumping.. just wondering if anyone else had any experiences. I read a post from someone on another board, about how she finally got to have a regression, and she had a very vivid experience. I PM'd her to ask if she got more information, the way I was supposed to afterwards (I never did). I'm envying those who have such success with theirs - I want this LBL, and have to go for a second regression first (I cancelled the second one last September, because I didn't want to waste money if it wasn't going to work again - then I kept getting distracted from working with the relaxation CD's and regression exercises, usually falling asleep. I would have been in better shape, had I practiced - I was all wound up.) I bought another book last night, called "One Soul, Many Lives" - it's like something that's been calling to me again, since October 2009, when I picked up the one book - but it's freaking me out that it's been eighteen months since I bought it (almost), and I've had such little luck. It's more like a reminder to me right now, that there's more to this than what I'm experiencing right now, if that makes any sense. IP: Logged |

I didn't see this before. Sorry. I sort of answered your question above: I'd wanted to practice with CD's to see if they would help me to get deeper, and cancelled the second appointment, hoping to get back to her as soon as I felt ready - that hasn't happened yet. I do plan to go back, and am also trying to find a therapist closer to me, who does both regular therapy and hypnotherapy, so that we can work with both. I can't believe it's been almost eight months since I posted above. IP: Logged | |
