just wanting to know if anyone else wakes up with music in their head? every morning as i wake up, even if a dream is also lingering in the borders of my consciousness, i have a song playing in my head.

it is very much like waking to a clock radio. the song is different almost every day. this morning, for instance it was "just my imagination" an old motown hit which has been covered by many people. another day, recently, it was the cars' "just what i needed", etc...

is this common do you think? if it happens to you do you find it is always a relevant message of some kind? or do you think it's just random?

kat, this happens to you too! I'm so glad you brought it up. Maybe over 95% of mornings, i wake up with a random song in my head. i've wondered if maybe i was tapping into radio station waves. LOL It's very curious isnt it?

This is the one from this morning (still playing in my head):

Rosanna - Toto

All I wanna do when I wake up in the morning is see your eyes
Rosanna, Rosanna
I never thought that a girl like you could ever care for me, Rosanna
All I wanna do in the middle of the evening is hold you tight
Rosanna, Rosanna
I didn't know you were looking for more than I could ever be

Chorus:
Not quite a year since she went away, Rosanna yeah
Now she's gone and I have to say
Meet you all the way, meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah
Meet you all the way, meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah

I can see your face still shining through the window on the other side
Rosanna, Rosanna
I didn't know that a girl like you could make me feel so sad, Rosanna

All I wanna take is a night you'll never ever have to compromise
Rosanna, Rosanna
I never thought that losing you could ever hurt so bad

(don't ask. i don't know )

Would love to know who else this happens to here too?

yes we do! unfortunately i dont listen to the radio much so i don't know what might be on at that time of day. OFTEN i have felt the song contained a message, maybe a little hook from the dream i was in, a reminder to take the place of remembering the dream...since i have lately lost the almost total dream recall i used to enjoy. and i really did enjoy it!

perhaps we are being given examples of telepathy, tho, i hadn't considered i might be picking up on actual transmissions from the radio! good point, T!

Yes, i too, think they come with messages sometimes. In this morning's case, not so much though. The last thing I'd want to see, first thing in the morning is someone named Rosanna in my bed.

Yep, i've considered telepathy too. Have you tried keeping a dream journal - to help remember your dreams? They say it doesnt take long to start remembering them more if you jot down any bits or feelings as soon as you wake up. I would like to, but dont seem to have the discipline.

i used to remember every last iota of my dreams, really enjoyed it and learned a lot from them. the last few years its really rare that i remember more than a whiff...the songs sometimes help me pick up parts. i've tried dream journals but for some reason even if i can kind of remember as i'm surfacing, by the time i open my eyes they're gone. there have been a FEW, a very few, that have hung around for recall, but they are far between.

i'm hoping its because i'm more conscious of the messages in the "waking" part of the day than i used to be...

I heart you there, it's not often I remember much of my dreams either. Been that way for awhile now. Maybe youre right with the reasoning.

This has happened to me before, and has been happening a lot for my mother, this year. Songs she hasn't thought of in years, have been coming to her.

Kat this thread just caught my eye.

I too, wake up with music in my head, but I wonder if anyone else ever has this happen....sometimes as I am waking or falling asleep, you know, lucid...I "pick up" random conversations and interactions from people I do not know. It is sort of like hearing a movie, but not necessarily seeing it, although, sometimes I do actually see little snippets of the interaction.

For example, when I was falling asleep last night, I heard an altercation between two women. I heard their whole conversation, the slang they used, their tone. It was over a man, and I did see only one image, which was the silvery glint of a knife.

That one was unpleasant, but sometimes, they are very serene, just slices of life type of things. Anyone else pick up on stuff like this??
