I think it was out in the theatres early this year (January). I watched part of it online, when I wasn't in a good mood, one Friday night (knowing it would be rented later on). We watched it last month, on On Demand, under the new DVD releases. It was okay, but it didn't scare me that much (maybe because I'd watched some of it on my computer, as I said before). IP: Logged |

Point is...There's real footage edited in with the acting.. much of it is true and all of it is allegedly true.. it's pretty terrifying stuff, if you're honest about it... LTT, I hear you. But if this stuff is real.. it seems so far beyond our ability to confront. Even if we summon the courage (or foolhardiness?) to explore this terrain, where do we begin? What's the next step? And how do we hope to contend with hostile alien intelligences which have the ability to manipulate matter and the willingness to commit atrocities in order to assure their secrecy? cpn,
Thank you for wondering. I'm okay, doing well. Exploring rabbinical literature, and hoping to have something significant to contribute here soon. AG is visiting us from San Francisco (!!!), and we've been exploring museums and such. I hope you're doing well, and I hope you know that, in spite of our disagreements, and some heated words exchanged, I still consider you honorable, and one of the few people here who has treated me with some consideration. take care, V IP: Logged |

I'm not feeling at all well, but I didn't think the supposedly real footage was real. If it was, then that would be scary - I was being honest. IP: Logged |

Yeah. For now, I'm convinced it was real, but I'd be happy to learn that it was staged. Sh!t freaked me out. IP: Logged |

Well, this is good news: quote: ControversyThe alleged real-life video footage and audio recordings used in The Fourth Kind are often denounced as mockumentary-style movie making. The Blu-ray release of the film includes extra footage not included in the original theater release. One of these clips shows the murder-suicide documentary footage. With the volume turned up, a person off-camera can be heard yelling "Action!" The film's trailer states that the story is based on "actual case studies", but did not specify any cases. As a result, much speculation had arisen regarding the search for documented evidence from the actual cases and whether Dr. Abigail Tyler is a real person or a fictional character for use in an internet viral marketing campaign.[9] Actress Charlotte Milchard was credited as "Nome resident", bearing a striking resemblance to the supposed real-life Abbey Tyler seen in the documentary footage. Her IMDB status has since been updated and confirms that she is indeed the English actress who played the "Real Dr. Abigail Tyler". On September 2, 2009, an investigation by Kyle Hopkins and the Anchorage Daily News examined the validity of the film's premise, and its relation to actual disappearances that have occurred in and around the town of Nome. The investigation found no specific events to back up the claims in the film and also revealed that unsolved deaths in Nome are no more a majority of disappearances (just as in other remote areas).[10] On November 12, 2009, Universal Pictures agreed to a $20,000 settlement with the Alaska Press Club "to settle complaints about fake news archives used to promote the movie." Universal acknowledged that they created fake online news articles and obituaries to make it appear that the movie had a basis in real events.[11] It is rumored that the interactive agency Earthbound Media Group, located in Irvine, CA, is responsible for this guerrilla marketing strategy as a third party agency hired by NBC.
Now I feel silly. Flinching at shadows. Of course, in the immortal words of Kurt Cobain, "Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after you." IP: Logged |

Don't feel silly. I googled it the same night I started to watch it online, because I thought I recognized the woman playing her. (I had her mistaken for somebody else, though.) When the Blair Witch Project was being advertised, in 1999? I was interested in the story, after reading the website with my sister (both of us suitably spooked just a little). I asked her if she thought it was real (the legend), only to have her ask, "Wouldn't it be all over CNN, ever year, if it were?" Uh, yeah, I guess it would. Or, we would have heard about it sooner. I not a disbeliever, when it comes to aliens, and I'm open to those who say they've been abducted. (Ooh, now I've remembered one of the parts that got to me: when the one person had been under hypnosis, and what the revelation led to. ) IP: Logged |

I think it probably would have bored me if I hadn't been told beforehand that it was a true story, with dialogue lifted directly from the therapist's tapes. I do think that something like this could happen and that, if it did happen, it might not be front page news across the country or the world. There are many reasons for that. For one thing, no matter how many witnesses you have, without some hard proof, the majority of viewers would laugh it off the air and any station or publication reporting it would be stigmatized as sensationalistic pseudo-news.cpn, I don't know if I'm better than ever. I have good weeks and bad weeks. Sometimes I think I'm breaking the surface for good, and it's gonna be smooth ascension from here on out. You know what I mean? But it's work. I'm always learning that. One day I'm feeling so clean inside, so ready to cry at the beauty of the world and the good people in it. The next day I'm wondering if I'm any good; if my life is worth seeing through; if I'm just bent on self-destruction, destined to sabotage everything good in my life, and everyone who loves me. So, yeah, I continue to wrestle with my inner demons, but, at the same time, Yin and I are making a life together and I'm doing my best to reinvent myself; to settle down and become "a simple man", or "a serious man" (a mensch). Maybe what you feel is a confirmation that your own impression of me, or relation to me, is less tainted, more pure than ever. Or maybe there really is more cause for optimism than I see, and maybe you sense it. I don't know. But thank you for sharing some kindness with me here. I know you are a good person, with a good heart. IP: Logged |

So, I ended up watching it thinking the same thing (that it was staged) by the end of it. It was a feeling I got, like something false. I did believe it at the beginning, but slowly by slowly my eyes started to roll. LOLIP: Logged |

it's getting better all the time better better better it's getting so much better all the time.that song just came in my head. focus on the man you want to be and ....bam...you are that man! i am so proud of you. its like a book and there are so many ways it can play out, after all, you are the writer. quite intelligent enough to have learned so much. Yin has been so good for you. i believe in you v. you can move into a place you never thought you could be, and you can trust it. i'm really happy for you. did you watch the history channel thing on the parallel universe? it was really interesting. watch it if you get a chance. quantum physics is so riveting. sometimes i want to go to the university of michigan and study it, but maybe i am too old to think about any more schooling...and math has always been difficult to me. cool stuff though.
take care you. IP: Logged |

this reminds me of "communion", by whitley streiber, one of the first contactee/abductee stories. when i read it i was so pulled in i was sure it was nonfiction. he is a great writer, but later i discovered he was a SCIENCE FICTION writer...that book put him in contact with a lot of actual abductees and he ran with it, and in fact became more and more factual as he went along but i never could figure out what was fact and what was fiction...the owl in the trailer is straight out of his books, which is another reason it reminds me of them.. Eh, Lexx, what a creepy picture. I've never understood what owls have to do with aliens and conspiracy theories. Anyone know? I always thought they were really nice creatures, but that just may be the result of watching too many Harry Potter movies.
