Yeah, crystals give me crazy dreams too. Some are actually better at it. The one shown in the picture is tabular which makes it better at sending a lot of energy supposedly. Quartz is like the all-pupose crystal of the metaphysical world and you can program it to do anything, however certain quartz are good at certain things depending on their faces etc. I most frequently use quartz with a window and reverse time activation for better visions and past life memories placed on my third eye or hand along with amethyst if I've gotten too caffeine happy. My favorite quartz to feel is double terminated dow.. ideally from lemuria. How you program them is a more complex manner involving holding it in your right hand of energies you're sending out and thinking the process of what you want it to do, whether that's transmit love or imagining it sending you amazingly vivid dreams on your past lives. The more detail and focus you can have with this the better. At the end you seal it with blue flame. Quartz needs to be recharged frequently and discharged of negativity it picks up. I do this with a sheet of celestite I keep at my window, but you can also discharge it with water or letting it sit in salt. Some will visualize this process. You can recharge it best in the sun or ideally burried which it will need in the long run. Just be careful, it's piezoelectric! If you want to receive energies from crystals, your left hand/side is your receptive side. Skin contact is best.
As far as creative programming goes, your mind is the limit. I've heard of people storing their own inforation on their quartz like an encyclopedia/dictionary of sorts or their research. I've heard of people programming quartz for great sex or good sleep and consequently putting the tv repairman to sleep! The larger the crystal the more it can store, but the energy stored isn't at all dependent on size.
