Feels good to be back here and posting

For the past few weeks - I'd say most of October and beginning of November - I have been struck by near-debilitating migraines from moderately severe to severe accompanied by nausea and dizziness.

They seem to be concurrent with the upswing in solar flare activity. Also noted that I was sick for a period of nearly three weeks with flu-like symptoms that flared up 3-4 times, resolving themselves in 4-5 days.

Emotionally, I feel strong, stable, more centered than I've been in a long time but it doesn't feel like a struggle anymore. It seems like a natural state of being, achievable with the least amount of focus as opposed to the near "tug-o'-war" that it was earlier.

Spiritually, I do feel a sense of connectedness and the beginnings of an understanding of the workings of the Source.

How have you been?

You may ask a question, then put this book down. But watch. Listen. The words to the next song you hear. The information in the next article you read. The story line of the next movie you watch. The chance utterance of the next person you meet. Or the whisper of the next river, the next ocean, the next breeze that caresses your ear—all these devices are Mine; all these avenues are open to Me. I will speak to you if you will listen. I will come to you if you will invite Me. I will show you then that I have always been there. All ways.

Hello, Cancer/Scorpio

My comings and goings vary greatly but I was merely lurking on the site as opposed to posting which I'm doing now. I am well or as well as I could be though the migraines are a pain.

I find it intriguing that the last time my migraines flared this badly was when I was at spiritual crossroads with mySelf. Surely, this is another sign

Have you tried taking fish oil supplements? They won't stop a migraine, but they will prevent them for most people. If you can find some with high DHA, it's even better than EPA.

"Life is like a box of crayons. Most people are the 8-color boxes, but what you're really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back. I fancy myself to be a 64-color box, though I've got a few missing. It's okay though, because I've got some more vibrant colors like periwinkle at my disposal. I have a bit of a problem though in that I can only meet the 8-color boxes. Does anyone else have that problem? I mean there are so many different colors of life, of feeling, of articulation...so when I meet someone who's an 8-color type...I'm like, 'hey girl, magenta!' and she's like, 'oh, you mean purple!' and she goes off on her purple thing, and I'm like, 'no - I want magenta!'"

good advice, but chiropractor are only temp quick fixes.

Have you had any xrays on neck? do you have arthritis, spondilotious? compressed discs in neck?

I suffer migraines, without aura, lots of nausea, can't stand light, have to go to sleep, body feels heavy. You should try and push for MRI on your neck as most problems start there.

Migraines are linked to C5 -6 discs..

Headache Pain. Migraines, Clusters, Tension. Treatment that works.

"Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening views migraine, cluster, tension, or chronic headaches as a muscular problem. AIS therapy is an alternative to pain medication pills. In the book Heal Joint Pain Naturally by Ellen Hodgson Brown, research found that pain pills impede the body’s ability to repair itself (page 20). This is true of headache pain as well as joint pain. Pain relieving drugs provide a temporary solution to migraine, cluster, or tension headaches. The long term solution involves rehabilitation to the muscles that support and surround the head." http://www.resolveyourpain.com/blog/headache-pain-migraines-clusters-tension -treatment-that-works/

Do you know your triggers? food, wine, cheese, stress, relief from stress is one of mine....

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is one of the methods of stretching most used by today's athletes, massage therapists, personal/athletic trainers, and professionals. Active Isolated Stretching allows the body to repair itself and also to prepare for daily activity. The Active Isolated Stretching technique involves the method of holding each stretch for only two seconds. This method of stretching is also known to work with the body's natural physiological makeup to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of muscle joints and fascia. There are many qualified Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) practitioners in this country and abroad who can help you with these beneficial techniques; simply search the states or countries below to locate one nearest you.

After I went to the chiropractor did the adjustment on my c5-c6 as I had misaligned from sandbagging, my migraines went away. I had migraines when I was in college on the East Coast and somehow it ensued from nowhere..went to acupuncture and it helped a little..the doctor didn't understand where my migraines come from either.

They thought I had meningitis and did a spinal tap which only made the migraines worsen. Later on someone introduced me to OPC3--antioxidant and I did a form of breathing method called Kriya and I'm not sure OPC3 or Kriya or maybe a combination that took my migraines away. It was absolutely horrific. Only recently it came back, but it was due in part to sandbagging and misalignment of my neck muscles. I went to my acupuncture and she wasn't able to fix it so she sent me to the chiropractor and that removed my migraines.

I took magnesium while I was getting my chiropractor adjustment. Only went twice and it was fixed. The guy I went to was amazing as well as my acupuncturist. Both took time with me and care about ridding the cause of my issues. So I certainly know the difference between a headache and a debilitating migraine--would not wish it on my worse enemy.

Thanks for the suggestions though Saggi and your inquiries. Much is appreciated.

Try some of this:

I got it for someone I know and it has helped immensely.

Recurring migraines often point to a Magnesium deficiency.

Fenugreek has some remarkable benefits--one of which is the elimination of migraines.

Magnesium

Magnesium is a nutritional supplement with numerous effects that support cerebrovascular tone. These include: 1) inhibition of platelet aggregation; 2) interference with synthesis, release, and action of inflammatory mediators; 3) direct alterations of cerebrovascular tone; 4) inhibition of vasospasm; and 5) stabilization of cell membranes. Some migraine sufferers with poor cerebrovascular tone have been found to have low brain levels of magnesium. Recommended daily dosages of magnesium typically range from 200 to 600 mg to compensate for this deficiency, far above what’s found in most multi-vitamins. Several double blind placebo controlled studies have demonstrated that oral magnesium can reduce the frequency and intensity of migraine headaches in both adults and children. (11-16)

Riboflavin

Riboflavin (vitamin B-2) is a precursor of flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD). This coenzyme is an important component of the electron-transport chain. A deficiency of mitrochondrial energy reserves has been observed in some persons exhibiting poor cerebrovascular tone. This defect may theoretically be corrected by a compound such as riboflavin that improves the activity of the electron-transport chain. MigreLief provides 400mg of Riboflavin, which is significantly higher than most multi-vitamins or B-complex products. Multiple studies have demonstrated that high dose riboflavin can reduce the frequency and intensity of migraines in both adults and children. (17-20)

Feverfew

Commonly recommended for its ability to support cerebrovascular tone, feverfew (Tanacetum Parthenium) is rich in compounds known as sesquiterpene lactones. One of the more important of these compounds may be parthenolide, which represents 85% of the sesquiterpene lactone content in feverfew. Some scientific studies indicate that while parthenolide may be important there may very well be other phytochemicals in feverfew that are as of yet unidentified and play a role in its effectiveness. Some studies of extracts of feverfew containing parthenolide yielded no significant benefits. This led researchers to believe that certain of the unidentified phytochemicals may have been left behind during the extraction process. The ideal solution would be a non extracted feverfew product that naturally contained high levels of parthenolide and kept all of the other naturally occurring phytochemicals as well. Thus Puracol Feverfew, AKESO HEALTH SCIENCE’S proprietary non extracted plant source for feverfew with high levels of naturally occurring parthenolide was developed. Puracol Feverfew is just one of the reasons for the superior efficacy of MigreLief, which delivers optimal dosages of parthenolide. Scientific studies have found parthenolide inhibits platelet aggregation and the release of serotonin from platelets and polymorphonuclear leukocyte granules.* It has also been shown to inhibit pro-inflammatory prostaglandin synthesis and the release of arachadonic acid. Each of these phenomena is associated with migraines. European studies have shown the benefits of feverfew on long-term cerebrovasular tone in multiple human studies. (1-10)

I've tried fewerfew with no noticeable results. I've also tried milk thistle and all sorts of other herbs are are *supposed* to help...

have been researching hawthorn & Fenugreek

Not sure why you recommend these for migraine though. From the research I've seen it's supposed to help -fengureek-
It has been claimed that the herb lessens the effect of hot flashes and mood fluctuations that are common symptoms of menopause and PMS.
It has also been used to treat arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, improve digestion, maintain a healthy metabolism, increase libido and male potency, cure skin problems (wounds, rashes and boils), treat sore throat, and cure acid reflux,

I haven't read anywhere it helps migrains?

Sometimes it needs to be the right combonation of things for one thing to really work. Often one remedy alone does not work, because it needs it's helpers, or to be paired right to work together in harmony to achieve the remedy. A stand alone method or only one vitamin or mineral will not always work. Especially if you are deficient on one, or some.

Kind of how it works with people... in life. lol ;p

The newest research suggests it relaxes constricted capillaries...which is basically what causes a migraine.

For the places it's legal

take it hit let the smoke blow out your nose so it really hits the brain.

I seem to get once at least once a week most of the time.

Took a pill. Hate doing that. I try to eat and drink more water to prevent them.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. This just had to be bumped. I might try meditating with amethyst on my head later.
