Just curious as to what people's thoughts are on stuff like this--as in, on ghost/psychic shows that you see on TV. Since it's come up recently, I've been thinking about it again.

Personally, I tend to be skeptical, especially of the gimmick-y shows that use "night vision" and see a ghost every two minutes, or every weird thing is automatically a ghost. I tend not to like the "ghost-hunting" shows, especially when they always find something. I tend to be more open to shows where people simply describe experiences, sometimes with it being re-enacted: those people seem more sincere/believable to me.

I do believe in ghosts, but not in most ghost story shows that I see, especially the "big name" ones. I also think that all natural and logical explanations should be explored and ruled out first before one assumes that there is a ghost/some kind of spirit, and tend to believe "ghost" as the last option after others have been proven not to be the case, as opposed to assuming "ghost" first.

Psychics, very highly skeptical of TV psychics/well-known psychics. I have been more open to believing in those featured on real-crime shows who work for the police/FBI, but, more and more, I'm wondering if they are really "psychic" or just highly observant/using "cold-reading". Still, I would have more faith in them than I have in the "big names".

Thoughts? Opinions? What makes you believe or not believe? And whatever your position, do you find these things entertaining, simply stupid, or dangerous/harmful?

Me, I tend to just dismiss most, but I do find it sad that some people take advantage of very vulnerable people and bleed them dry financially and emotionally.

I'm in the middle, basically: I'm definitely not on the side of the anti-everything spiritual, but I'm also not on the side of believe-in-everything, either.

Well we all know my stance on "mediums."

But I keep my head stuck on the BIO channel whenever I can watching ghost shows. I love Celebrity Ghost Stories, My Ghost Story, My Ghost Story Caught on Camera...

I like to hear other's experiences with such things. And find the common Joe or Jane credible with their stories, even the celebs.

I get bored with the mediums, cept Theresa Caputo cause she is so entertaining, but I often wonder if they are just talented at tapping into the subconcious for the information they obtain, cause they do come up with some personal things nobody should know.

Like I said, if it makes somebody feel better no harm done. IF the mediums are scammers then they will pay the piper someday.

I would rather spend an evening watching the above metnioned than Joel OSteen, who starts his show with pics of he and his lovley wife and then watch the camera pan over thousands of (seemingly lost) souls then go home to his mansion...

But thats another thread!

Personally I have always believed in ghosts and the after life. A few years back I used to watch the show on Travel Channel called Ghost Adventures, but it became to commercialized. Once in awhile when I am home I will watch a show called A Haunting on Discovery Channel, about people's stories with the paranormal and how they dealt with their ghostly situations. Now I would just prefer doing my own experiments and possibly traveling to some of these haunted locations to experience for myself.

I also like "Celebrity Ghost Stories". Again, I tend to prefer shows that simply tell a story and re-enact it (or even without re-enacting it); those seem more believable and more interesting. There are a few others, too, that I like.

Mainly, I just can't stand the "gimmicky" ones.

I'm not really into ghost shows.

I remember seeing this one ghost show when I was 9 and being skeptical of it. It showed a girl being attacked by a ghost or demon. And I remember thinking 'she wasn't all alone...what about the camera guy?!!'

Anyways I recommend Ghost Hunters, they will debunk things on their show sometimes. I really only like watching for the history of what happened at the place. The guy I date he can watch marathons of this show! I have with him. Where finally I have to say "okay we have to stop watching this, every noise I hear out the window is making me paranoid"
my sister can watch marathons of it too. (at least it's not a "real housewives" marathon) haha
