I hope I'm starting this thread in the right place. I've been having the nagging feeling I should start meditating - NOW. In the past, I've been told to do the same, but never as strongly as now. There are answers that I need answers to that I KNOW are inside -if only I would tap into it. IF I knew how to - SAFELY. This is my number one concern - SAFETY. So, if anyone can tell me how I can start w/o the fear of some attack, please let me know. I'm also "told" meditation will help my "psychic" gifts. As well as, the use of crystals. Actually, I've been told to seek out crystals for QUITE some time, now. I've finally decided to listen. Annnnyyyyyway, please share any info or exp. Thanks in advance!! quote: Originally posted by Vajra: Hi Leap Year Pisces,I've found Ernest Wood's classic meditation primer 'Concentration - An Approach to Meditation' rather helpful. This would be as safe a way to learn meditation as it gets. It's a manual containing information on the workings of the mind as well as a series of lessons that together take about half a year to complete. After that you can go on on your own and actually know what you're doing. You can check it out here: http://static.livingcosmos.org/ebooks/ernest-wood/ldump2/ If concentration exercises are not for you another rather safe approach could be Buddhist Vipassana meditation. It really is a matter of personal inclination what method suits you best, so read before you decide. Whatever practice you start: Keep reading, listen to your intuition and beware of humbug. It's dangerous to meddle with the mind.
Hello Vajra, Thank you for responding. And thank you for the information. I've a question: Is yoga similar to meditation or one and the same? I attempted grounding the other day. =/ After traveling out as far as maybe Saturn, and had to turn back. I didn't know where I was going. Even after pulling up a picture of the solar system. -_- THEN, after getting back to Earth, I hovered in the air for a lil while. Why, you ask? B/c I "forgot" I was up there. -_- So, after "they" reminded me I was still up there I pulled myself down the rest of the way. I'm talking I could literally see the clouds when I was nudged to finish my "trip". The upside of this story is, the following evening, I found an amethyst stone I was looking for - subconsciously (I say subconsciously b/c I did some light research on crystals the same day. And subconsciously remembered I had that stone in my draw.) Maybe the stone is linked to meditation. I get the feeling I should start with the crystals first and then maybe I'll be ready for meditation. Until then, I'm going to start some research on it. ------------------ I am a child of Karma. Yes I agree with You. Research is the best for you. Because you are already taking off in other planes so you would naturally know which meditation technique would suit you best. And also the crystals. They would help to channelise your energy. 2 decades ago we did not get info easily. Had to keep finding the right people, go and meet them, then go about asking them, run around for info etc. Now you have everything just on a click. So happy hunting. And do keep us updated. Might help knowflakes here. All the best. Welcome Vajra.

I was told i needed to ground myself (my mind tho-I can't do what u did) and was told by someone (who's 'guide' told them) to obtain the crystal jade. It has helped somewhat. Amethyst is def a good choice for u.....u may want to research how to shield urself as well if ur worried about attacks. Here is a website to check out http://www.allexperts.com/el/Psychics/ Winged wolf may be of assistance. U just hafta check to see if the readers r available or not. They each have their own limit on questions as well. They r all free, donations r optional. Winged wolf gave me some links on how to shield myself as I have been developing empath abilities but now I can't find the links lol just keep checking that site each day as it changes. Hope this helps u IP: Logged |

quote: Originally posted by Vajra: Leap Year Pisces,no, Meditation and Yoga are not exactly the same. Meditation is a method for quieting the mind so it can become aware of subtle realities. It is not exclusive to Yoga and has in fact been used in many different traditions, such as Buddhism, Christianity, and many more. Yoga is a system of training with the goal of achieving unity with the infinite, that is, liberation. It employs many methods, meditation being only one. Others include Selfless Service; Prayer and Devotion; Bodily and Breathing Exercises; Intellectual Insight; Mantra chanting; and several more. The reasons is that people are different. So instead of a one-size-fits-all approach a good traditional Yoga teacher would observe the student's personality and character and assign him or her a training regime suited to his abilities and inclinations. So one student would start to practice meditation, another would do service to humanity or breathing exercises for some time and then switch to another practice at some point. Meditation is the primary method used in the Raja Yoga and Jnana Yoga schools that aim at gaining deeper insight into reality. According to tradition these schools are best suited to people who are intellectual and have relatively strong will power. Thanks everybody for the friendly welcome!
*slurp, slurp* <---That's my brain soaking up all of that knowledge! I can't WAIT to dig deeper into this! (more re-search & spiral thinking!) It sounds like yoga may be for me. I've been seeking answers to quite a bit lately, but I've a feeling once I set out to find a Yoga instructor, I'll be led right to him. Look at that! I just narrowed down my search! I now know I should look for an older gentleman. Smh, this is AWESOME! Thank you for your sharing this with me, Vajra. ------------------ I am a child of Karma. IP: Logged |

So, on my looooong trip south the past 1.5 days. I think I had a dream. (Which is easy to do b/c you can't really SLEEP on the bus. just sort of a half-sleep state.) All I can remember is waking up and 'thinking' "...it's not that I need to meditate. I need help focusing or grounding myself. Use the crystals..." WOW! Doesn't come any simpler than that. ------------------ I am a child of Karma. IP: Logged |

It fell out of my pocket last night and my kids found it. Took it out of the pouch I have for it. One of them had the pouch (made it there pound puppies home -_-) and the other was just holding onto the stone like a lucky charm. .-. Although my oldest can benefit from it - she needs her own and I told her so. Don't touch, Mommy's. Thank you. So, now I'm wondering if I should cleanse and re-charge it - again. Any suggestions?? ------------------ I am a child of Karma. IP: Logged |

Uhh I've only just started with crystals lol I've read I'm supposed to cleanse and re-charge them periodically. If its been awhile since u last cleansed/charged, then I'm sure if wouldn't hurt. Guess I need to keep reading in order to give better advice lol IP: Logged |
