Ok, I am not sure if this is the right forum or not but here goes: I was recently told by a psychic that I have some sort of block. The explanation was this may be part of the reason why I have experienced a lack of progress or problems in different areas in my life.

Based on what I've read online a block can be caused by anything from your own negative thoughts to someone putting a spell on you. Should I be concerned or could this be a way for some psychics to make money off people?

BTW I have read up on different ways I can clear negative energy myself, but now I am confused.

In my personal opinion, if they're asking for money to "cleanse" you, (and it's usually a hefty fee they charge) run away... Fast. I've been to numerous psychics (due to a really harsh event in my life 2 years ago) and they all said the same thing and wanted money, and lots of it. I was so desperate at that point that I actually fed into one of them and lumped out a few hundred bucks. The result of that was a quite a whole in my pocket, not getting the results of what was supposed to manifest from it, and now owning several amethyst crystals.

Ever since then I've become far more skeptical about psychics and refuse to step foot into any of their doors if they're asking for large sums of money to "cleanse". Hence why I turned to astrology, it's a fun hobby, it's not costly and I get to learn some awesome stuff along the way (which bodes well for me since I like to learn things on my own).

If you ever get the opportunity, look up cold readings.

Now, that's not to say that all psychics are like this, I've been to/ talked to less than a handful that have been spot on about extremely well detailed personal things in my life. But, regardless, you need to exercise drastic disgression.

Further your learning in astrology or tarot. It (especially tarot) will enhance your intuitive skills with practice, and with astrology it will make you contemplate and think about different things about yourself.

I've had two psychics tell me I should get a cleansing to remove negative energy. The first I was young and did it anyway but the whole time my intuition was telling me it was a scam. I've since learned to trust it and politely declined the second time and would never believe anything unless it came from my higher self.
