Ok I guess to summarize I'm just curious to hear opinions on why it is that certain people have numerous "paranormal" experiences with ghosts, spirits, etc. while others never do...Is it an "awareness" of these energies, or some sort law of attraction? Probably both I suppose.. IP: Logged |

I agree. Idk what it would be in my chart but I do have sun conjunct neptune and moon conjunct kaali... I've had some minor weird experiences throughout my life that I've tried to just brush off, but some that were kind of undeniable including a few encounters with "ghosts" (I definitely believed they were human spirits still lingering in that space). It's difficult to even talk about since most people don't consider it a very legitimate concept, which I probably wouldn't have either lol Anyway I didn't "want" or seek out those experiences, but it's happened in 3 different places I've lived, the first time being when I was pretty young... Obviously I've been the common denominator so I started to think it's just me who is "attracting" these energies and maybe I am cursed or something. But idk... I was talking to my cousin about this and apparently my Aunt has had similar experiences throughout her life and believes that many people can remain oblivious to the energies around them while others are more "in tune". So it's not so much about attracting it as just being aware and able to recognize the energy if it's there... Either way it's interesting I guess, but I am not a huge fan of the paranormal and never have been lol IP: Logged |

I've found a lot of shamanic lore could be extrapolated to explain why some people have these encounters. While I've yet to see someone say it outright I've noticed too many parallels. Very short & sweet the shamanic societies recognize that some people (who usually, though not always, had a brush with death, including near death experience) are just more in tune to the paranormal. But one difference is that shamanic societies learned how to harness such talent for the good of all while those of us outside shamanic societies tend to find such experiences more baffling or even outright harmful than helpful. There are other factors, too. For example, there are "hot spots" where a lot of paranormal phenomenon goes on and hanging around such areas makes an encounter or experience much more likely--especially for those who seem to have strange experiences all the time anyway. Certain occult significance can also have an effect which can include teens (don't feel like explaining the occult significance as I have before, suffice to say it counts as an "in between" place) who can outgrow such experiences. And sometimes free will is a factor. I have heard of people who sought out the paranormal and found it and also those who have managed to stop all paranormal phenomenon and psychic experiences from happening ever again though it takes awhile and the desire has to be sincere without reservation. And some people say they can't enter or exit that world no matter how hard they try. IP: Logged |

Thanks for your response, you always have interesting information!! I'd definitely like to learn more about shamanic societies, I know some of the basics but will have to do more research..."Hot spots" are really interesting, and I agree certain places can make things much more likely to happen. Idk about it being a hot spot, but during the second paranormal encounter I've had I lived in a very old, former "mansion" built in the Victorian era that is now sectioned off into apartments and rented to students. I was very drawn to the aesthetics and charm of the house in general. But the room I chose was kind of isolated and on a different level from the other roommates, and of course that's where I think the "ghost" or spirit had claimed its space and was most attached. And it definitely didn't want to share... That was the only time I've felt genuinely afraid of a 'spirit' since the energy seemed outright aggressive and hostile. There was just a disturbing feeling of being watched a lot of the time, I tried to ignore it but other weird things would happen pretty often, some more volatile than others.. the door was actually slammed shut in my face as I was about to walk in the room once (with no air flow going on or any other possible explanation) Anyway, I agree free will plays a role to an extent. Much like hypnosis, being "open" to it or not makes all the difference. But if anything I feel like I always tried to resist and find rational explanations for paranormal or psychic experiences and have been thrown into them anyway. So I can't help but wonder whether I subconsciously chose to live in those places for some reason (not including when I was younger and had no say in it of course), or if "it" chose me somehow. Which brings up the question of what, if anything these spirits want out of human interaction, and what exactly their souls are doing still lingering here.. Idk but I've always respected the power of it all and didn't really want to explore it out of fear, but I'm starting to think it's best to just try to understand as much as possible and learn to harness it in a positive way as you said.. eta: Idk if it qualifies as a near death experience, but when I was 18 I got extremely sick out of nowhere and spent almost 2 weeks in the hospital, part of that time in the ICU. It felt surreal at the time but it was actually pretty serious.. I somehow knew I wasn't going to die but I remember having crazy dreams that are hard to explain but were basically lucid dreaming only more intense... I've also been in one other potentially life threatening situation where I felt weirdly "protected". So that's really interesting I would've never made that connection. Two of the three "ghost" experiences I've had happened after I was in the hospital... IP: Logged |

I dont think the ability to see or communicate with spirits makes a person special, imo its just a matter of being open minded. Most people experience out of the ordinary things all the time but they dont trust their instincts because of their pre-conceived notions, this is usually motivated by their religion. I have a good example of this. Me and my neighbor saw a ufo in his backyard but he didnt believe what he saw despite seeing it with his own eyes! This guy is a christian who believes the bible is 100% correct, he doesn't even believe in dinosaurs.. His logic is they aren't mentioned in the bible.. So when me and him saw a huge shiny metallic cigar shaped craft (with no wings) flying across the sky he went into all out denial mode. IP: Logged | |
