This is something very queer that's been happening to me for quite a long time. Whenever I meditate, and reach the state wherein my mind is in a calm state, I begin hearing someone's footsteps. And it seems as if the person is walking right in front of me!
The first few times I dismissed them as random noise and thinking it would have some explanation.. But whenever I opened my eyes, the sound stopped. I still continued meditating in the same room until one day when I could feel someone sitting right besides me! I could hear deep breaths being drawn in and out. It was since then that I stopped meditating.
But yesterday, I suddenly woke up from my sleep at around 2.30 (I sleep in a room different from the room I meditate) and I could hear the footsteps, the sound increasing, as if the person was walking towards me. Whenever I closed my eyes, I could feel white flashes of light coming from the middle of my forehead.
I had heard that u can protect yourself from non-physical entities by imagining a wall of sorts around your body. So I began imagining a bubble around me, and made it expand. As soon as I began doing it, I could hear the footsteps retreating. After a time, they were gone altogether.

My grandfather died in this house 8 years ago. When he was alive, he would always check in on me by opening my rooms door slowly. The door still opens the same way till date. Could this be him?
If so, can anyone help me contact him?

PS: I just feel the need to tell that whenever I meditate, i feel a tingling or sometimes, ever pressure at the centre of my forehead. What does that mean??

The cards which fell had a pink back.

I freaked out. Ran to grab the cards from behind my sofa. 7 specific zen cards. It was a helpful message from the spirit because I was just going through a bad depression related to a past action. CLINGING TO THE PAST+GIVING UP+GUIDANCE+CELEBRATION+EXISTENCE+INTENSITY+CREATIVITY. Beautiful.

I'm not sure. If my granny died and came to me I'd be careful about it, especially if some time had passed. I'd ask WHY she had come back, if I could (using knocks and pendulums might be good if I couldn't hear any voices), and might even test some knowledge (but then I expect spirits can read minds, or at least know how you HOPE they'll respond so ideally it would have to be knowledge I'd have to fact check elsewhere AFTER I got answers). I'd carefully consider the motivations (and also what she could be doing instead of haunting me).

I'd also try the tarot, both on attempting to vet the claim that the spirit is the ghost of my granny, and also if it's a good thing for her to hang around to interact with me while I'm still alive...for me, and for herself. I wouldn't use the pendulum for this, however, as I think it would be easy to get a false reading (either the answer desired rather than true, or from being manipulated by the spirit similar to a planchette).

Thanks for reading...yes, I'm okay with exploration. But no, I am not courageous enough (at this point) to be a willing participant, interacting with spirits that scare me. Just like, I would not want to be alone in a room with a violent criminal...I do not want to be alone in a room with a poltergeist.

Just to give you an idea...well, this is one of the "subtle" things I wasn't going to mention. But the other night, after I heard the "demon voice," I was in bed next to my husband who had fallen asleep. Suddenly it sounded to me like someone was popping out of my closet (the door was already open), roughly pushing my clothes aside while hissing in a menacing way.

I sprang on my husband, shook him awake and pulled his arms around me while cowering against him. You can probably imagine my level of fear by thinking of an actual robber hiding in your closet, popping out at you and hissing the way a totally insane person might. There's nothing to "explore" at that point. Only terror.

As for your gramps ~ as I've said, I have walked this path of feeling like my loved ones are around me...but no, I never felt that I had anything to offer them in terms of "crossing over," so I can't really suggest anything there...just be mindful and careful.

But yeah I do think that a demonic spirit can attach to someone..but just a regular "ghost" if you will, prob not.
Maybe you can try some space clearing in your house.

I never had that trouble with reading about serial killers before, not that I'm an avid student of the topic, but my 8H moon/3H Pluto/Scorpio NN goes in that direction sometimes....

But...something I haven't clarified...I was ALSO looking at the Columbine story right before I heard that demon on the stairs. So that's TWO visitations by a sinister spirit after two research sessions on killers (I was looking at their charts, mainly, but also seeing their pictures...I think I'm permeable and weird stuff can get to me through people's eyes. Like I get too much of a sense of them.)

You're right, that romance mystery was not the right subject matter...I was tempting fate by reading dark stuff while alone in this house, before the second incident with the voice made me realize, this is not a game I should play. At all. (I did mention some stuff on the Weapons thread but wasn't looking at pictures or letting my mind engage with the topic much.)

Need to look into space clearing.

Does the breathing try to make you feel scared for your life, or just surprised and startled..Obv you dont have to answer but i think that would be one of the distinctions. Imo demons are relentless, there's a difference between the 2.

The only time I know that people can become confused regarding "activity" or not, is if they're under the influence obvs, drugs or some such to induce hallucinations, some schizophrenics will hallucinate upon awakening, and then sometimes when we start to drift off our mind will tell us to wake up. And it'll do that by, say, we hear our name all of a sudden, or something that sounds like a knock on the door, a stack of books dropping. Things like that. It happens when you have it in your mind that you don't want to fall asleep in that place, or you still have something to do before you nod off.

But if you're awake, not under the influence, female (in particular), cant explain away the thing with some practical reasoning, and are in a relaxed, receptive state then chances are more likely that it's a spirit making itself known. And it does seem activity happens more often at night, because there is something that's different about that energy.. but that one I think depends on circumstance, the severity of the thing. A severe case things will be happening during the day, obvious disturbances.

.....by that reasoning if you keep yourself busy (have high energy doing whatever) and in a noisy place with others (the more the better), chances of you encountering that kind of energy are lessened.

Christians will tell you to read your bible. But it's also good to play uplifting music. Positive messages. Eat well (mostly) keep your energy good, then you'll be stronger number 1, number 2 you'll more easily discern how negative the energy actually is, if its still presenting a problem. The space clearing with sage, after decluttering and washing the walls. I'm sure you've heard all this but just in case someone reading is dealing with similar.

But I agree, rule other possibilities out first. Spirits making contact should be the last on the list of potentials.

If,you think it might be your imagination then stay away from allll negative energy, negative stories, keep yourself clean (regular clean not Carrie coming home from prom acting all crazy), keep your place organized (not Felix from the odd couple but you know). That will help. Let fresh air and light in during the day and keep the windows closed and blinds/drapes drawn at night if possible too.

I don't think it sounds like your imagination, but I guess it could be.

Yeah I've heard from some astrology is a portal. And they think it's witchy.
I guess maybe you could try taking a break if it happens again.

So the voice on the stairs said "I'm away now" or was that a different one?
I think angry ghosts can seem threatening but they're not necessarily demonic.

It'd be nice if some other people with thoughts on the matter came in.

I would think yes more are needed but I'm only one person.
Or maybe ask in forums outside LL?
